CHAPTER 286: COMPLETELY SEVERED TIME POINT
Chapter 285: Completely Severed Time Point, Mikoto’s Good Friend!
"Don’t you think my appearance is more mature?" Kushina blinked her moist eyes.
"Pfft."
Kushina’s words made Mikoto laugh out loud. "Kushina, what are you talking about? Where’s the maturity? You’re still so childish."
"How is that possible? I’m 24 now!" Kushina defiantly pushed back her bangs, trying to make Mikoto take a good look.
"Um, Ms. Kushina, I think I should remind you... you’ve gotten younger than before," Exusiai raised her hand.
Uchiha Mikoto glanced at Exusiai’s bright wings, feeling even more confused. Such a strange form. Another Kekkei Genkai?
"I got younger?"
Kushina was startled and asked, "Mikoto, where’s your mirror?"
"Don’t look for it. Look here," Ren’s words caught her attention.
She turned to see Ren holding a mirror. When Kushina saw her reflection, she was stunned. This delicate, flawless face was exactly how she looked when she was young.
"What’s going on? I really got younger!" Pinching her own cheek, Kushina was dumbfounded.
No wonder Mikoto said there was no change; it turned out she really had reverted to her past self.
"This issue is related to time," Ren explained. "You should know that there should have been a ’you’ existing at this point in time."
"Hmm... I suppose so."
"But the rules of this world do not allow two identical individuals to exist at the same time. So when you entered this time point, you became the ’you’ of this era," Ren continued. Different worlds might have different rules.
"So you are now in a superposition with your younger self."
"..."
Ren’s explanation was simple and easy to understand. Even the careless Exusiai could grasp it.
"Is there such a thing? Then what about me pulling people from other time points?" From Tokisaki Kurumi’s shadow, another Kurumi wearing a Spirit Dress emerged.
"This is a part completely cut off from other time points," Ren glanced at Kurumi.
Another version of himself appeared in front of him, but he instantly erased it.
Clones were a no-go. He didn’t like them; he didn’t even want to look at one. Gross.
But if his girlfriend had clones, he would like it very much. Yes, Ren was a double-standard, selfish man.
He decided to seal this ability, only using it when absolutely necessary for combat, and never against his girlfriends. It would be even better if he could one day unify his past, present, and future into one being.
After Ren erased the clone, Kurumi dragged her own back into the shadow. The returning Kurumi grumbled, "I, that’s too much."
"Shut up and go back," Kurumi said coldly, pulling her completely into the shadow.
This scene left everyone stunned.
"Shadow Clone Jutsu?" Uchiha Mikoto suspected, not believing anything about time.
Ren ignored her and continued, "This world only has one main timeline."
These separated timelines are like branches cut from the main trunk. However, they are not completely severed, so they are still essentially on a single timeline. This is why only one individual is allowed to travel through time here.
Under his observation, the main timeline of this world is uniquely unchanging; only it can extend into the future. Other branched timelines are fixed. This means that if these branches are separated for too long, the timeline will break and be destroyed.
The principle is like a tree. If the trunk is cut into many branches, the middle section becomes very thin. As the front section continues to grow, the thin trunk can no longer bear the force and eventually breaks.
Now he also guessed what the Time-Thief was doing: using this method to break the main timeline, thereby destroying the time of this entire star system.
In Ren’s view, such an action only indicated that the Time-Thief was very weak, or had other motives.
But what was the point of collapsing the timeline like this? At most, it would just let the energy of time vent wildly. This point still needed further investigation.
Ren said a lot. Some were confused, but most could still understand.
"This person is toying with time. His objective might not be simple," Esdeath commented.
"Let’s catch him first," Ren said.
Besides the main timeline, there were 41 branch timelines, and he didn’t know which one the enemy was in. Fortunately, the mission time was 30 days.
Kushina barely understood some of it, but she was still confused. "Why hasn’t Tsunade-sama changed? There should be more than a decade of difference between our times."
Ren smiled faintly. "Her? Don’t you know she has the Yin Seal?"
"!!!" Kushina suddenly realized. Oh, right!
The Yin Seal is an S-rank medical sealing jutsu. A diamond mark appears on the forehead, allowing for chakra micro-regulation to achieve instant healing and enhanced power. Skilled users can also maintain a youthful appearance. That’s why Tsunade-sama shows no changes.
Kushina understood.
But Uchiha Mikoto was completely bewildered.
Time travel? Who would believe that! Someone is trying to destroy the world? Who would believe that! They took a Time Anchor from inside me? Who would believe that! What in the world is all this? How did Kushina get involved with such crazy people?
Compared to her future self, the current Mikoto still had some of the impetuousness of a young girl.
Ren activated Gluttony again, temporarily swallowing the Time Anchor. He planned to collect them all before digesting them at once. These anchors were not simple; they were created by individuals at his level or above. He began to look forward to this journey.
He said to everyone, "The Time Anchor in this timeline has been removed. Let’s go to the next one."
"Okay," they all agreed.
"Wait! Kushina, where are you going with them?" Uchiha Mikoto called out, worried her best friend had been tricked.
Kushina blinked and laughed loudly. "Haha, Mikoto, I’m going to save the world! It’s amazing, you know."
"..."
These words made Mikoto even more worried. Biting her lip, she decided to follow them. She had to save her best friend.
"Kushina, I must go with you."
"Huh?" Kushina looked at Ren again.
Ren said casually, "What good friends you are. Let’s go then."
Snap!
He lightly snapped his fingers, and they headed to the next timeline.
