Chapter 287: Does Exusiai Want a Child? Time-Thief, Namikaze Minato!
Twenty-plus minutes later, Hinata-chan saw the great gate of Konoha.
"Woo-wah!"
She cried tears of joy, unable to hold them back any longer.
Suddenly, she felt something and looked back. She saw Ren waving with a smiling face from a distance before he disappeared.
It turned out that the big brother had been protecting her the whole time.
"Hey, why is there a child over there?"
Hinata-chan was discovered by a Konoha patrol ninja, who, upon seeing her Byakugan, immediately notified the Hyuga Clan. Soon, people from the clan arrived and hastily took her away.
On her way, Hinata-chan’s teary eyes kept gazing at the spot where Ren had disappeared.
In the forest.
"Ren, you seem to really like children, caring so much about her," Exusiai said with a cheerful smile.
"Well, well-behaved children are indeed very cute," Ren generously admitted, then changed the subject jokingly. "If Exu also likes them, we can create one together, you know."
"Eh!!!"
That one sentence completely floored Exusiai. Her halo began to flicker again.
Your combat power is so weak, Exu,
Ren inwardly complained.
Kurumi’s expression was peculiar. From their ambiguous actions earlier, she had suspected they had a relationship, and now it seemed even more certain. However, she was still mistaken.
Ren and Exu currently had no relationship. It was just that the carnivorous Ren was now beginning to make his move.
Instead, Kurumi felt that the extreme Esdeath and Ren were the ones who truly had a relationship.
Ren didn’t rush to leave this time. Instead, he looked thoughtfully at Uchiha Mikoto and Kushina.
"Wha... What is it, Mr. Ren?"
Uchiha Mikoto had come to believe in their goal of saving the world and was no longer wary. Instead, she felt a bit constrained, especially facing the man she had initially misunderstood and who had seen her entire body.
Being stared at by his dazzling golden eyes, she always felt as if her clothes were merely decorative.
"I’m considering whether I should send you two back."
"Ah? Why?" Kushina blurted out.
Uchiha Mikoto was also very puzzled.
Ren pointed to their mature but still charming faces. "As you’ve seen, your bodies will change when you travel through different timelines."
"So, have you ever considered what would happen if you traveled to a future where you were on the verge of death?"
If it was just traveling to a point before they were born or after they died, it wouldn’t be a problem. But if it was at the moment of their near-death, they would enter a dying state.
"..."
The two exchanged glances; they both understood Ren’s meaning. Expressions of disappointment appeared on their faces.
But Ren’s next words rekindled the light in their eyes.
"However... there is a way."
Ren thought of a feasible method. With a raise of his hand, the power of time covered their entire bodies.
He set up a special mechanism for them. When the effect of time exceeded a certain limit, the power around their bodies would automatically transform into effects of time acceleration or deceleration to counteract the external temporal influence.
"Alright."
"..."
Uchiha Mikoto and Kushina didn’t understand what Ren had done. They felt nothing at all, and it just ended like that. The others also didn’t understand what ability he had used.
But it seemed fine, and they could go to the next timeline.
Just as Ren was about to activate his ability, he sensed a ripple of time swirling around him. He looked up, and a golden figure emerged from a temporal ripple that suddenly appeared in mid-air.
"Namikaze Minato?"
Ren was sure he wasn’t mistaken; that golden hair belonged to Minato.
According to Kushina and Tsunade, Minato had suddenly disappeared one day during his time at the ninja academy. The Third Hokage and Jiraiya had apparently searched for him extensively, but he was simply missing. After that, he was presumed dead.
Now, an adult Namikaze Minato had appeared. And he had traveled to this timeline through time.
Ren didn’t remember Minato’s space-time ninjutsu, the Flying Thunder God, having the power to travel through time.
So, this guy’s identity was already clear.
A Time-Thief, one of the main factors of the Abnormal Doomsday.
Namikaze Minato’s state was peculiar. Either his body had been taken over by a Time-Thief, or he himself was one.
Minato, cloaked in a white cape, hovered in mid-air. He stood with his hands behind his back, his cape fluttering in the wind, an aura of kingly dominance emanating from him.
"Were you the ones who pulled out the Time Anchor?" Minato suddenly spoke, looking down at everyone with an indifferent, condescending gaze.
It was a look that made Esdeath narrow her eyes. "What an unpleasant look."
Ren felt that this Minato was putting on a very grand act. He grinned. "Since you said so, I have to make him get down here obediently."
Seeing that no one paid him any mind, a cold glint flashed in Minato’s eyes. He was just about to question the whereabouts of the Time Anchor.
Whoosh!
A sudden strong wind howled. He felt his hair stand on end as a majestic, heaven-shaking force seemed to descend from above.
His heart screamed frantically. Danger! Danger! Danger!
Not good! Run!
Minato’s first reaction was to use the Flying Thunder God to escape, but he discovered that the marks scattered across the various timelines were all ineffective. He could sense them faintly, but he couldn’t traverse space.
The thick space barrier of 4.0 made it impossible.
Seeing the Flying Thunder God fail, he hurriedly activated his time power and even took out his own Time Anchor. But no matter how he urged it, the anchor spun rapidly yet couldn’t even tear open a gap in the time layer.
"Why can’t I open a time gap?" Minato was deeply puzzled. With the Time Calamity King’s Time Anchor, he should have been able to do it.
At this moment, both his space and time abilities had failed.
As he panicked, the heavenly might descended. The invisible clouds in the sky were scattered by some unknown impact. Looking up, it was as if the endless night sky had torn open a huge, even deeper chasm.
