Chapter 1065: Absorbing Dragon Force
TL: GoldenLung
“The Head once said that the Dragon Force is a treasure, and at its very core lies the greatest treasure of all—one that none of us are yet able to wield. But as we continue to absorb Dragon Force, we will keep evolving. Perhaps, on the day when our Celestial Dragon Clan can undergo a complete dragon transformation, we will be able to use that treasure and become the mightiest beings in the universe.
“Xiuxiu, I brought you here today for two reasons: one, to test your abilities, and two, to measure your compatibility with Dragon Force—to see how effective your absorption will be.” Huang Daoqi stated his intentions directly.
“Alright.” Bai Xiuxiu nodded in agreement. “So what should I do?”
Bai Xiuxiu was a Wild Dragon and wasn’t registered with any dragon clan—Huang Daoqi had already confirmed that. He didn’t care much about her origins; what he valued was her talent. Identities could be fabricated, but dragon bloodlines could bot be faked. Drinking a cup of dragon blood sap would immediately expose anyone who wasn’t truly of the dragon race—or at least a high-ranking one—and could even be life-threatening.
If, as Huang Yuanlang claimed, Bai Xiuxiu truly was a dual-attribute Higher Dragon, Huang Daoqi believed that such a prodigy would be the core member of any family. There would be no reason for her to be sent here undercover—such a thing was completely unnecessary.
His stated purpose for bringing Bai Xiuxiu to the Dragon Force Hall was the “test,” but there was another reason he hadn’t revealed: every dragon experiences a unique manifestation the very first time they absorb Dragon Force in this hall. If that manifestation appeared, it would prove that Bai Xiuxiu had never absorbed Dragon Force before and didn’t belong to any clan. If not, it would suggest she might be an infiltrator sent by another clan.
Judging from Bai Xiuxiu’s reaction upon seeing the hall, the latter possibility seemed unlikely, which filled Huang Daoqi with even greater hope.
“Xiuxiu, stand in the center of the Dragon Force Hall.” Huang Daoqi gestured for the others to move aside, and the Huang Family members retreated to the walls.
Bai Xiuxiu stepped to the center, directly beneath the massive crystal overhead. She was a little nervous—she had no idea what was about to happen.
She was gambling—that her true identity wouldn’t be exposed. Based on what had happened so far, the odds were very much in her favor.
Huang Daoqi’s aura surged, and a faint golden radiance emanated from his body, a pure energy fluctuation tinged with light.
Outside the hall, Lan Xuanyu let out a quiet sigh of relief when Huang Daoqi released his aura. As Huang himself had said, this bloodline specialized in reproduction rather than raw power. Huang Daoqi was only a god-ranked powerhouse, not a true-god, much less a super-god.
Even if something went wrong, Lan Xuanyu was confident he could take Bai Xiuxiu away safely.
He discreetly signaled to Tang Yuge and Yuanen Huihui beside him.
If anything unusual happened while Xiuxiu absorbed Dragon Force, they would strike instantly.
Inside, Huang Daoqi’s golden aura flowed like water into the runes on the floor and walls. The entire hall lit up, glowing brilliantly gold. Against that backdrop, Bai Xiuxiu standing in the center looked like a goddess descending to earth.
The massive crystal atop the hall lit up as well, radiating dazzling golden light, its aura growing forceful as energy waves surged violently.
Even Lan Xuanyu, outside, could feel something erupting from the crystal, shooting into the sky beyond sight.
Xiuxiu sensed the familiar aura thickening around her, and instinctively looked upward.
In that instant, a twisted radiance descended from above, enveloping her completely.
She let out a muffled groan as her bloodline seemed to ignite, flames of light rising around her body.
Huang Daoqi’s eyes locked on her intently.
The rising dragon flames were the most distinct sign of a first absorption of Dragon Force. She truly was a wild-born dragon. At that moment, Huang Daoqi finally relaxed, a smile spreading across his face.
Deep-blue scales, like carved crystal, surfaced from beneath Xiuxiu’s skin, quickly covering her whole body. She raised her head and released a dragon’s roar. In the next moment, her wings unfurled—she had entered her Martial Avatar form.
The dark-blue flames radiated a chilling aura, dimming the surrounding golden glow. Her massive wings beat powerfully, rapidly absorbing the twisted radiance around her.
The more she absorbed, the brighter the radiance grew. Transformed into an Abyssal Frost Demon Dragon, she released roar after roar, her aura intensifying swiftly. Frost began creeping over the hall’s golden walls.
The Huang family members were stunned.
They had all absorbed Dragon Force before, but none of them had ever produced such an overwhelming reaction. The first absorption was always the most effective, fully awakening the latent power in the bloodline, purifying and strengthening it.
Xiuxiu’s roars echoed again and again. Her deep-blue scales became increasingly translucent. Even Lan Xuanyu, outside, could sense her vital signs shifting rapidly, her aura soaring at a speed almost unimaginable.
At that moment, Bai Xiuxiu herself was in an entirely different state.
“Why? Why did heaven never show us such favor before?” The Demon Queen’s whisper echoed in her mind—her unwillingness crystal clear.
Indeed, the Demon Queen had long reached the level of an Ultimate Douluo, teetering on the edge of evolution. Whether it was her, the Emerald Swan, or the Beast God Di Tian, all of them had been trapped at that threshold.
If they had once possessed a place like this, where they could be bathed in such Dragon Force, then without question, she and Di Tian, as true dragons, would have ascended to godhood with ease, becoming god-ranked true dragons.
But the opportunity had come too late. She was now Bai Xiuxiu’s Spirit Soul. No matter her unwillingness, she could never return to what she once was. Yet precisely because of this, she guided the pure, vast Dragon Force, washing over Bai Xiuxiu’s body, fusing it seamlessly with her own.
Bound by contract, she was only half a Spirit Soul, since Xiuxiu had never been able to accept all her power before. But now, with the cleansing Dragon Force, the Demon Queen’s preserved strength was fully merging into Xiuxiu’s body. With this purifying Dragon Force guarding her, there was no longer any fear that Xiuxiu’s body could not withstand it. Still, the process required time—and much more of that True Dragon force.
Feeling Xiuxiu’s evolution, Lan Xuanyu’s heart blazed with excitement outside. He didn’t know where this Dragon Force came from. Even the Treasure Seeking Beast couldn’t tell him, only confirming it was pure, god-level Dragon Force. In the golden age of the dragons, such energy had existed throughout their territories.
Lan Xuanyu couldn’t help but wonder—if he himself absorbed this True Dragon force, what kind of transformation would he undergo?
For now, though, he relaxed. With Bai Xiuxiu’s current display, not only had she avoided suspicion, she might even have struck awe into the Huang Family.
