Dragon Ball: I Became Cell in a Doomed Future
Chapter 81 81: The Final Dragon Ball
Ginyu froze for a moment, his eyes scanning the battlefield in search of Majin Buu, ready to react at any moment.
"No need to look. While Majin Buu is still reconstituting himself, you two should go ahead and swap bodies," Frieza said with a smile.
Whether Majin Buu was truly dead or not, it didn't matter. This time, His Majesty was clearly intent on having Ginyu follow through with the exchange if only to test his loyalty.
Levos quickly caught on.
It all depended on whether Ginyu would obediently carry out the order.
Judging from his earlier behavior, Levos wasn't exactly optimistic.
At this very moment, he was perhaps the closest to death he had ever been.
Ginyu might try to eliminate him outright and pretend the whole body-swap deal never existed.
Fortunately, Bulma had been cautious enough to stay on guard the entire time.
She remained close to Frieza, and if Ginyu tried anything, His Majesty would surely be able to intercept.
Ginyu glanced around and noticed all three King Cold, Cooler, and Frieza had their eyes fixed on him.
"Lord Frieza, shouldn't we confirm Majin Buu's status first?" he asked carefully.
Frieza's gaze turned razor-sharp, cold and devoid of emotion. His voice was chillingly authoritative.
"I'll handle Majin Buu myself."
"…Understood, my lord," Ginyu said with a sigh, bowing his head while sneaking a glance at Levos's position.
Then, with a falsely gentle tone, he called out,
"Levos, come a little closer."
His voice was calm, even kind but the tension in the air grew thick enough to choke on.
Even the sky seemed to darken ominously.
…
Meanwhile, in the outer layers of Earth's orbit.
"Lord Champa, the signal from the Dragon Ball just reappeared. It's definitely somewhere nearby."
"Perfect!" the figure called Champa grinned, forming a small purple sphere of energy in his palm.
"Lord Champa?" the angel beside him raised an eyebrow.
"Hm? What is it, Vados?" he asked, puzzled.
"What are you doing with that sphere of Hakai energy?"
"I'm going to clean the dust off the Dragon Ball, of course!" Champa answered with perfect confidence.
Vados casually tapped her staff, pointing behind them.
The glow of six massive orange spheres each one planet-sized cast deep shadows over the Earth.
Compared to them, the Earth looked like a mere marble.
"The Dragon Ball's diameter is three times that of this planet. You really think that's it?" Vados deadpanned.
"Tch. I know that! Don't insult my intelligence," Champa muttered as he casually dispersed the Hakai energy.
"Oh my, then surely you already know where the last Super Dragon Ball is hidden?" Vados teased, eyes narrowed in amusement.
Champa's smirk froze. After a few seconds of fruitless thinking, he frowned.
"Fine! Vados, just tell me what you know already!"
"You called me naggy earlier, didn't you?" Vados smiled sweetly.
Champa looked like he was about to explode.
Vados finally offered a hint.
"Just a tip, only gods can gather and use Super Dragon Balls."
"…You mean another god already has the final Dragon Ball?" Champa's eyes widened. He muttered, "But who would that be…"
"No matter who it is, Lord Champa, the final Dragon Ball is definitely connected to someone on that planet. We're in the right place."
"Heh… that's right. Once I get the last Super Dragon Ball, I'll finally unlock the recipe for the universe's most divine dish!" Champa practically drooled with joy.
Vados arched a brow and smiled slyly.
"Oh my, so the wish isn't to revive your dear brother?"
"Pfft! Who'd wanna revive that arrogant jerk!" Champa huffed.
Then he turned serious.
"Vados, when I make my wish, don't get in the way."
"Can't do that. Angels are meant to guide and supervise Gods of Destruction. Everything you do must be under my watch," she replied with a pleasant smile.
"Fine, whatever. I'm going down there to find whoever's hiding the last Super Dragon Ball."
Vados peered into her staff. "Looks like something interesting is happening down there already."
Champa glanced at the orb atop her staff. "Hmph. Just a bunch of foolish mortals fighting. No doubt this planet will be reduced to rubble from their power soon enough."
Vados smiled faintly.
"Why don't we go meet the local god first and ask about the situation?"
"Sure, as long as we find that last Dragon Ball fast."
With a gentle tap of her staff, the two vanished in a flash of divine light.
…
Back on Earth.
Frieza narrowed his eyes, staring into the sky.
The sun seemed to vanish, as if something massive had blocked it out.
An orange hue spread across the heavens.
Levos felt the strange shift too. An inexplicable unease gripped his heart.
"Captain Ginyu," Frieza said calmly, "please begin the exchange."
Then, to ensure it happened, Frieza personally took Levos from Bulma and placed him right in front of Ginyu.
Ginyu knew he could no longer delay. With no choice left, he moved slowly, dragging out every second.
Still, as long as he remained loyal to Frieza, he wouldn't be able to escape the inevitable.
The moment Levos gained Cell Max's perfect body, Earth's fate would shift dramatically.
Ginyu darted his eyes across the battlefield, still hoping to find Majin Buu's remains.
He had no choice but to accept his fate now.
Unless Buu was still alive… and Levos could somehow be convinced to swap back later.
His thoughts were a tangle of anxiety and resentment.
Meanwhile, Earth's defenders stared intently at the frog in Frieza's hands.
The entire fate of the planet now hinged on whether Levos could successfully gain Cell Max's ultimate body.
And just then!
The fusion of Gotenks wore off.
In a flash of white light, the two boys disappeared.
In their place now stood four people.
Ginyu's eyes lit up, hoping this twist might distract Frieza.
But Frieza remained unfazed. His gaze never left Ginyu.
"Captain Ginyu," he said coldly, "don't worry. I trust Mr. Levos to honor his word. And I'll be watching him closely, too."
Frieza clearly knew what Ginyu was worried about—and gave a chilling reassurance.
