Dragon Ball: I Became Cell in a Doomed Future
Chapter 87 87: Someone’s Been Practicing Their Combo in Secret?
That beam of orange light radiating from the Body Change technique became the only color in everyone's eyes.
But just as it was about to reach its target, Bulma's body moved into the path.
Everyone who saw it widened their eyes in disbelief. No one had expected this turn of events.
Captain Ginyu's face twisted with despair.
Once fired, the Body Change beam couldn't alter its course!
"It's over… our last hope… gone."
"Is the plan really going to fail?"
The orange beam sped toward Bulma's chest.
At that critical moment, a frog looked up blankly from Bulma's arms.
Even now, in a moment of such danger, Bulma's hands remained tightly cradled around the frog, protecting it with all her strength.
Levos caught sight of Ginyu's crimson eyes, and that blinding beam of light.
Everything happened too fast.
Before he could even react, both he and Bulma were caught in the center of the battlefield.
"What?!"
Levos's pupils shrank, his expression frozen in disbelief.
But as the one who had devised the plan, it took him only an instant to grasp what was happening.
With a powerful push of his legs and arms, thanks to the soft, springy platform beneath him, Levos launched himself forward, leaping out of Bulma's protection and into the path of the beam.
Fwoosh!
The orange light struck Levos directly.
Instantly, he felt his world spin. His soul seemed to be ripped from his body, an unbearable, nauseating sensation!
The next moment, Levos found himself inside a massive body.
He understood immediately.
Without wasting a second to process the changes, he drew upon all his strength and charged straight at Fusion Zamasu.
He moved with incredible speed, the very air warping from the pressure of his momentum.
Fusion Zamasu sensed the incoming threat. Without hesitation, he raised his massive scythe and slashed down at the towering Cell Max.
Just as they were about to collide, Levos activated a thought.
A crimson aura ignited around him, blazing with intense heat.
At the same time, his massive body began to shrink rapidly, compressing in a blink to human size.
Whoosh!
The gigantic scythe carved through the air with a roar, nearly tearing the space apart.
But Levos, now reduced in size, narrowly dodged it at the last possible second.
Everyone watching was stunned by Cell Max's sudden transformation.
Levos himself wasn't sure if it was his imagination, but he felt an incredibly high compatibility with Cell Max's body.
The moment he thought of the Namekians' ability to enlarge themselves, a reverse ability shrinking naturally emerged in his mind, allowing him to evade Fusion Zamasu's deadly strike with ease.
Moreover, Cell Max's body contained cells from Goku and many other Earth martial artists.
When Levos attempted to use the Kaioken, it succeeded without resistance!
Even better, Cell Max's fully evolved body could endure a Kaioken multiplier far beyond what Levos's original body could withstand.
So.
"Twenty-five times Kaioken!"
With a low growl, Levos unleashed all his power.
His body turned into a fiery meteor, tearing through space.
In Fusion Zamasu's shocked gaze, Levos's right leg lashed out like a whip and struck him hard in the abdomen.
Boom!
A muffled impact echoed as Zamasu's back arched unnaturally, his entire body folding over with a grimace of pain.
Seizing the opportunity, Levos grabbed his shoulder with one hand, hoisted him up, then slammed a knee straight into his jaw.
Crack!
A sickening crunch followed the sound of a shattered vertebra. Fusion Zamasu spat blood, his body going limp as he reeled backward.
"How is this possible?!"
Vegito Rose immediately fired an energy wave to assist, disbelief written all over his face.
It was the same body, yet Cell Max's current performance was dozens of times stronger than before.
Even the others on the battlefield were speechless, as if they had just seen a ghost.
Wasn't this Levos's first time swapping into Cell Max's body?
How had he adapted so fast?
He'd even unlocked devastating new techniques!
Levos's eyes remained cold and focused.
As Fusion Zamasu briefly lost consciousness, Levos reached for the pouch tied to his waist.
But just then, Vegito Rose's dangerously charged energy blast slammed into Fusion Zamasu.
His body disintegrated and crumbled, and the pouch at his waist along with the Senzu Beans was completely destroyed.
Levos halted abruptly, letting out a silent sigh. He gently wrapped an arm around Bulma's waist, pulling her into his arms, then grabbed a certain frog and vanished from sight.
After setting Bulma down in a safe location, he turned his attention back toward Fusion Zamasu's position, silently considering his next move.
Fusion Zamasu possessed a form of semi-immortality. Even if Levos's power could overwhelm him under Kaioken, eliminating him completely in a short time was nearly impossible.
Besides, killing him outright wasn't necessarily the best option.
If Zamasu wasn't thoroughly annihilated, he could corrupt the universe again or worse, multiply into countless copies.
Neither the anime nor the manga ever gave him a satisfying end.
And Levos wasn't about to let that scenario play out.
Tightening his grip on the frog in his hand, Levos's eyes darkened.
The battlefield once again fell silent.
Everyone stared in shock at the changes to the perfected Cell Max.
He was no longer the same as before. In fact, the difference was like night and day.
Unlike when Ginyu was in control, this Cell Max was restrained and composed, his aura deep and vast.
If Ginyu had been a savage beast baring its fangs, then Levos was a dormant dragon, biding its time beneath the surface.
An overwhelming sense of danger radiated from him.
As silence settled over the battlefield, Levos withdrew his crimson aura, seizing the opportunity to recover his strength.
Cell Max wasn't truly a source of infinite energy.
Just as Bulma had once theorized, androids weren't truly infinite in power. It was just that their energy recovery rate exceeded their expenditure.
But Cell Max, a perfected bio-construct, consumed energy at a level that far surpassed the so-called pseudo-infinite threshold.
Fortunately, the battle had paused.
Levos could clearly feel his stamina rapidly recovering, aided by Cell Max's super-cells.
But to fully restore his energy, it might take several dozen minutes.
He silently cursed Ginyu for using this body so recklessly, wasting so much of its strength and not even healing its injuries.
Though the body had reverted to normal size, a deep gash from Fusion Zamasu's scythe still marred his chest and his tail had been completely severed.
Fortunately, Cell Max contained Namekian cells, granting him their innate ability: regeneration.
Levos inhaled deeply and focused on the cellular activity within.
A moment later, with a single thought.
Squelch!
Sticky fluid splattered.
A brand-new tail extended from the base of his spine.
He gave it a test swing.
It felt a little strange, but it was fully functional.
Next, the deep wound across his chest swiftly closed, healing without a trace.
Driven by curiosity, Levos twitched the wings on his back and found the sensation equally bizarre.
Still, they didn't hinder him in combat and when not in use, they could protect his back from sneak attacks.
The sharp wing-blades might even serve as additional weapons.
"Not bad at all…" Levos muttered to himself.
He couldn't help but give the frog in his hand formerly Ginyu a light squeeze.
"Not my original body, but definitely better than being stuck as a frog."
