Dragon King Palace: Urban Affluent Son-in-Law
Chapter 663: Worn Out from Coping!
"Fei'er, are you serious? Brother Jiang made nearly 800 million in just one day??"
In the western-style house, when Jiang Feng came out after a shower, he saw Chu Feifei, who had washed up earlier, wearing a pink lace cool nightgown, curling her snow-white legs, sitting on the sofa chatting with Nangong Qingcheng and Liu Shiyuan.
Clearly, while Jiang Feng was away, Chu Feifei took the opportunity to wildly embellish the things Jiang Feng did today to the two, making Jiang Feng sound nothing short of miraculous, leaving Nangong Qingcheng and Liu Shiyuan utterly astonished.
For Liu Shiyuan, she simply couldn't grasp what the concept of 800 million in one day meant!
Normal people couldn't earn that much in several lifetimes, yet Jiang Feng managed to do it effortlessly in half a day, it was truly terrifying!
And although Nangong Qingcheng was slightly better than Liu Shiyuan, she was equally shocked!
Chu Feifei's words even made her feel a slight regret that she missed out on so many exciting experiences today!
"Of course, am I lying to you both?"
Chu Feifei said smugly, "Qingcheng, I've decided, after showing this money to the shareholders in the group tomorrow, I'll keep a small portion for our daily expenses, and the majority, I'll let you use to expand Fengming. What do you think?"
Nangong Qingcheng was surprised to hear this, not expecting Chu Feifei to actually want her to spend this money on expanding Fengming!
This clearly showed that Chu Feifei put a lot of emphasis on sisterhood, considering money to be an external thing, shared among them.
"No need, you should save it and use it when needed. For now, I want to grow Fengming with my own efforts, besides, I have you all to help." Nangong Qingcheng smiled.
"That works too, anyway, this money was earned by Uncle Jiang and given to me, so it's our joint property. Whoever needs it can use it, including Sister Zhiqing and Qinyao. I think Uncle Jiang would agree, right, Uncle Jiang?"
Chu Feifei looked at Jiang Feng coming over, asking with a smile.
"Do as you like, spend as you please."
Jiang Feng sat down calmly; since he didn't have much concept of money and didn't need it himself, he left it entirely to the women to handle.
"Where's Zhang Qinyao?" Jiang Feng glanced in the direction of the room on the first floor, asking casually.
"Qinyao wasn't feeling well tonight, she went to rest early." Liu Shiyuan explained.
"Not feeling well?"
"It's... just some stomach discomfort..." Liu Shiyuan's cheeks flushed slightly.
"Silly Uncle, it's a girl issue, don't ask too much!" Chu Feifei scolded playfully, giving Jiang Feng a light kick with her foot.
Jiang Feng understood and didn't ask further.
...
In the room, Zhang Qinyao was indeed not feeling well.
Like all girls, she had a few days each month when she felt unwell, and hers was a particularly painful type.
Once the pain started, her hands and feet would feel cold, and she would have no strength, so she had to rest early.
However, as she lay on her bed, she could hear Chu Feifei and Jiang Feng return outside, especially Chu Feifei's exaggerated praises of Jiang Feng, which she also heard.
In shock, she dressed again, intending to come out and chat with everyone. But before she could reach the door, her phone vibrated.
She took it out to see that it was her mother, Yang Jingjing, calling!
This made Zhang Qinyao a bit anxious.
Because, since getting more involved with Jiang Feng, she had changed her previous selfish, pretentious, and opportunistic mindset, learning to be grounded.
Yet, up to now, Yang Jingjing still hadn't realized this point, and would intermittently call her to instill those sycophantic ideas and values.
Now, the mother and daughter had developed different life views and values which were completely opposite, making conversation feel pointless.
So every time Zhang Qinyao saw her mother's call, she was reluctant to deal with it.
"Mom."
Zhang Qinyao answered the call, her voice weak.
"Sweetheart, your voice doesn't sound right, are you sick?"
On the other end, Yang Jingjing sharply noticed her daughter's tone and immediately asked.
"No, I'm just a bit tired, went to bed early." Zhang Qinyao replied helplessly.
"That's good; you absolutely cannot get sick these days." Yang Jingjing was relieved, reminding her.
"Why?" Zhang Qinyao furrowed her brows and asked.
"Why pretend not to know? The day after tomorrow is the All Province Business Alliance Conference! Can you afford to miss it?"
Yang Jingjing's tone carried a tone of reproach.
"The All Province Business Alliance Conference? What's it got to do with me?" Zhang Qinyao knew about the conference but couldn't see its relevance to her.
"Of course it matters!"
Yang Jingjing started to sound more stern: "You know the nature of the All Province Business Alliance Conference, it's the largest annual business gathering of the province! It's being hosted this year by the Dongfang Family in the Provincial City, inviting all the big names in the province's financial and business circles!"
"So, you can imagine this year's conference will be of much higher caliber than before! The participants will exchange information and resources through various means like tea parties, dinners, balls, etc. What a rare opportunity this is!"
"Mom, what are you trying to say with all this? You know it's a gathering of big names in the province, what does it have to do with me?"
Zhang Qinyao still didn't understand what her mother was insinuating.
"Oh, I think you've been at university for too long!"
Yang Jingjing said irritably: "Aren't you a part of Chu Feifei's circle now? I heard the Chu Group has received an invitation, and as the chairman, Chu Feifei will undoubtedly attend! As her good friend, she has to bring you along! You should make a good impression these days, don't let her leave you behind!"
"Mom, my friendship with Fei'er isn't for this, I..."
"Listen to me, sweetheart!" Yang Jingjing interrupted her, disregarding what Zhang Qinyao wanted to say. "Though you're doing great now, successfully mixing in with Chu Feifei and even moving out of the dorm to live with her."
"But, you must understand, she is she, and you are you! You can never become her, so always rely on yourself, make things happen!"
"Simply put, Chu Feifei is currently your biggest resource and platform, but eventually, you will move beyond this platform to achieve your ultimate life goals, do you understand?"
"Mom, you're getting it all wrong! My relationship with Fei'er is not what you think, I would never use her. Our relationship now is truly that of good sisters, stop interfering with us."
The more Zhang Qinyao listened, the more discontented she became, responding coldly.
Yang Jingjing didn't understand at all that her being forgiven by Chu Feifei and establishing a friendship, even cohabiting together, had little to do with Chu Feifei, and a lot to do with Jiang Feng's significant role in it!
She never wanted to do anything that would disappoint Jiang Feng again, as the consequences were something she couldn't endure!
