CHAPTER 509: BET A PACK OF SPICY STRIPS 2
Xu Na’s chest heaved violently. No wonder Shen You’an said nothing yesterday—he had been waiting for her here all along.
True to form, taciturn but ruthless, quietly making big moves.
The woman on the phone sighed helplessly, "With this case, I don’t think you stand a chance. Even if you hire the best lawyer in Chunzhou, it won’t help. The only way is to privately settle and get the plaintiff to withdraw the lawsuit. You better figure something out and drop the spoiled heiress act. Otherwise, if a criminal record sticks, you’ll regret it when it’s too late. As your old classmate, that’s all I’ll say. Take care of yourself."
Xu Na clenched her teeth, rage rising within her, and threw her phone forcefully.
The Bolonka dog cowered in the corner, letting out pitiful whimpers.
~
"Sister Yu, do you think that girl named Shen You’an will show up today? She won’t have been disqualified by the organizers, right?"
Yu Ruohuan chuckled, "Who knows?"
"I asked around. That invigilator named Xu Na has some connections. I think Shen You’an might be in trouble. It’s already so hard just to get in here—what a pity..."
As the two spoke, a slender figure walked past them. Her composed elegance became the most eye-catching sight on the solemn campus.
Jing Zhan: ...
Gao Yuyue turned back with a cheeky smile, "Sorry to disappoint you. Our An’an is just fine."
As she finished speaking, she rolled her eyes and walked away arm-in-arm with Shen You’an in grand style.
Jing Zhan was stunned, "How is she okay?"
Yu Ruohuan frowned slightly, "Alright, stop talking now."
Jing Zhan closed his mouth reluctantly.
Inside the exam hall, everyone sat silently in their seats, waiting for the invigilators to arrive.
Two figures walked in, one after the other.
The male teacher was the same as yesterday, but the female teacher had been replaced.
Yu Ruohuan furrowed her brow slightly but kept her composure without revealing her emotions.
Her thoughtful gaze fell on the back of the figure ahead.
The second day’s three questions were noticeably harder than the first day’s.
Yu Ruohuan was not satisfied with her answers from yesterday. After estimating her score, she realized there were several deductions, so she knew she had to give her all on today’s three major questions.
The first two questions were manageable, and she felt slightly reassured.
But as her eyes landed on the third question, her pupils shrank sharply. Her fingers clutching the exam paper turned pale.
The Navier–Stokes equations.
As one of the seven globally renowned unsolved physics problems with a million-dollar bounty, it is the hardest among the seven to solve.
Although she had expected the questions to be tough, she hadn’t anticipated the organizers being this ruthless.
Physics equations can never be detached from mathematical approaches, and this great equation epitomizes that, requiring extensive mathematical theory as support. This explains why it appeared on the test paper.
Yu Ruohuan specialized in mathematics. With mentorship from top-tier instructors and her natural brilliance, she found it manageable. But when it came to the abstract realm of physics, she hadn’t devoted much energy to it, leaving her completely stumped now.
When the mind is chaotic, the pen hesitates.
This question had obviously stumped all the test-takers.
Except for Shen You’an, who remained poised throughout. Unlike before, she didn’t hand in her paper ahead of time this round.
The bell rang, and only then did she put down her pen and exhale deeply.
Everyone obediently stopped writing. In fact, most had already abandoned their pens; the difficulty of the last question was overwhelming. Even the brightest geniuses reached their limit at the step involving differential equations.
One after another, their faces looked as if mourning their exam results.
Yu Ruohuan took a deep breath—it’s okay. No one could solve it anyway.
After submitting their papers, everyone left the exam hall in order.
The exam papers were sealed on-site and expedited to the grading room.
The results would be out within two days.
The next two days were scheduled for academic reports, and the third day would feature the closing ceremony, including the award presentation.
Yan Lu retrieved her backpack, visibly dejected. "Why were the questions so hard this time? Did the organizers overestimate me? Someone as mediocre as me—how could I possibly solve the Navier–Stokes equations? If I could, I’d already be at the Physics Research Institute, wouldn’t I?"
Mumbling to herself, Yan Lu glanced at Shen You’an, "An’an, don’t tell me you actually solved it."
Shen You’an merely smiled without answering directly, "I’m starving. Let’s go eat."
Mental work is far more exhausting than physical labor. Her body felt drained and desperately needed food to refuel.
When the group met up, they tacitly avoided mentioning anything about the exam questions.
"Bichen."
A soft, gentle voice belonging to a young woman sounded from behind.
Gao Yuyue and Yan Lu glanced at Gu Bichen, their expressions teasing.
Gu Bichen furrowed his brow slightly but turned around calmly and politely, looking every bit the gentleman, "Miss Yu."
