Drawing Cards in the Middle Ages to Rise in Ranks
Chapter 316 - 10: King vs. King
CHAPTER 316: CHAPTER 10: KING VS. KING
"Can you still hold on?"
Prajna gripped the Ghost Face Shield, standing beside Losa.
What was originally an advantageous Dragon Breath standoff had tilted against them, favoring the opposite side.
"If you can’t hold on, why don’t you let me take over?"
Losa’s Breath of the Giant Dragon, augmented by the King of Volcanoes, nearly equaled the intensity of the Tyrannical Dragon, known for its powerful Dragon Breath.
Yet his shortcoming was a lack of endurance.
A hundred points of Spiritual Power, which was considered mid-level even among Wizards.
But when compared to the near-immortal Black Dragon, which could continuously grow its Magic Power, it was far behind.
In terms of total Magic Power alone, even a high-level wizard like Anna, nearing Legendary status, could hardly rival the Black Dragon.
Losa gestured for patience, though his Spiritual Power was rapidly depleting.
Yet, he wasn’t anxious at all.
Their side now had the advantage, and it was the opponents who should be worried.
He was waiting.
Waiting for Isaac to play his trump card first.
Being able to subdue a Black Dragon only proved that Isaac’s power was greater than the Black Dragon’s.
Otherwise, when the Black Dragon first appeared, two Holy Spears would’ve ended it instantly.
At times like this, it’s just like playing Gwent Card, whoever plays their card first loses.
...
Isaac was indeed anxious now.
The situation below was clear to him.
Nearly ten thousand troops crowded on the beach, unable to fully spread out their formations.
In fact, there were still two to three thousand people who hadn’t managed to disembark from the ships yet.
But the forces on the shore had already suffered unimaginable devastation.
Those Crusader Knights,
If not for the Black Dragon still circling overhead, they would’ve retreated long ago.
Yet now, he couldn’t do anything.
...
Chelina stood atop the highest point of the port, above the lighthouse.
Her fluffy gray wolf ears and long blue-gray hair swayed gently in the night breeze.
"Master is about to reach his limit."
She could clearly feel the energy emanating from Losa was plummeting.
She slightly crouched her knees.
The next moment.
Her figure abruptly vanished.
Reappearing.
She had reached beneath the Black Dragon, her sharp twin blades carving a bright cross sword mark in the air.
A piercing scream echoed throughout Limassol City.
Even on the battlefield, filled with the deafening clamor of battle cries, many instinctively looked up to see what had happened.
"The dragon, our dragon, it’s bleeding?"
"The Greek lord is doomed, his dragon is wailing!"
The enemy’s already plummeting morale visibly dropped further.
Especially among the Kuman and Turkic soldiers, part of whom were slaves recruited by Isaac in imitation of the Mamluks, but the majority were mercenaries.
A mercenary army, after all, held no loyalty.
They started scrambling aboard the small boats stranded on the shore, urging the sailors skilled in rowing to come aboard, while shooting down those trying to escape onto the boats from above.
The Black Dragon was bleeding.
Though the wound was on its abdomen, it was not life-threatening to the Giant Dragon, known for its formidable Life Force.
Yet the Dragon Breath it was maintaining was interrupted by Chelina’s "Choke" talent.
The Dragon Flame spat by Losa, unhindered now, crashed into its body like a cannonball, the terrifying heat and impact making Isaac on its back let out a heart-wrenching howl.
"Help...help me!"
In the face of death.
Any notion of freedom was long forgotten.
"Care for a deal?"
A shadow appeared before him with a grinning smile, spiraling along with the blasted-away Black Dragon, maintaining a face-to-face posture with Isaac.
"What deal?"
"Let me borrow your body, and I’ll deal with your enemies for you."
The flying Dragon Breath clung and burned Isaac’s body like hellfire, the intense pain making him wish he could faint immediately, but he remained distressingly lucid.
"I really have no choice, do I?"
Elegantly, the Black Dragon turned all its attention towards him as he rushed to fight back.
"I offer freedom, and freedom it shall be," standing firm on his stance.
"Believe me, Isaac, I’m not like those deceitful Devils, I believe in equivalent exchange, you desire freedom, and I offer freedom."
"Save me."
The agony left him with little room for thought.
The pain contorted on his face faded into indifference.
He glanced down at his Dragon Flame-covered body, and the flames extinguished instantly, exposing unharmed flesh beneath.
"It’s been a while since I felt this way."
Above him, black fog morphed into an Immortal purple-golden crown, with eyes flickering with golden brilliance as it flowed like a cloak in the heavens.
The Black Dragon beneath the Dragon Saddle radiated sycophantic thoughts.
"Your Majesty, you’re finally free from that despicable human!"
Isaac ignored it.
The flesh on his shoulders split, as if something was writhing inside for freedom, pushing out two bone stalks stained with blood.
The bones were incredibly sturdy, their ends as sharp as spearheads.
"The energy is insufficient; this body is truly too frail."
He showed some frustration.
Even after devouring the blood and souls of dozens of living humans, casting a spell to charm the Black Dragon required a significant expenditure of Power.
"Bear with it, little one, it might hurt a bit."
The Black Dragon was somewhat puzzled.
In the next moment, Isaac’s fingers pierced into the Black Dragon’s body.
Agonizing howls erupted.
Within a few rapid breaths, the Black Dragon’s skin shriveled up.
Meanwhile, behind Isaac, flesh began to coalesce beneath the two bones, forming two enormous fleshy wings over two meters long.
The Black Dragon, sucked dry of flesh, nevertheless remained aloft in the clouds.
With Isaac’s snap of the fingers, them once hollow eye sockets of the Black Dragon reignited with two eerie green flames.
"Destroy that woman."
The Black Dragon descended, carrying "Isaac" on its back towards Chelina, who had ambushed it.
This power, similar to Demon-Blocking Gold but far more practical and terrifying, instantly made Chelina his first priority target.
On the lighthouse, Chelina frowned slightly, sensing the special power locking onto her.
She immediately flashed away.
With a thunderous crash.
The lighthouse where she had just been standing seemed as though smacked by an invisible giant hand, the top collapsing, with shattered stones tumbling off the cliff into the sea.
"Nina!"
Furinjira, realizing Nina’s danger first, summoned her inner Magic Power, forming a particularly thick Blood Spear, brushing past Chelina’s shoulder, and shooting straight at the pursuing Black Dragon.
However, the spear was shattered by an invisible force before reaching it.
Standing atop the Black Dragon’s head, Isaac smiled, spreading his arms wide, as if embracing the entire world.
"This is the beauty of having a physical form."
Ahead.
Chelina, fleeing rapidly, suddenly turned direction.
The Black Dragon pursued without hesitation, knocking over two buildings in the smoke-laden air, trying to cut off her path.
But as the smoke dissipated.
Standing before it was a Female Knight clad in silver Armor, gripping a rusty Iron Spear.
The Knight wore no Helmet, her golden hair stained with blood and dust.
Isaac’s smile froze.
His gaze locked on the Holy Spear in Jeanne’s hand.
"This transaction."
"May not have been worth it."
