Drunk and Daring I Kissed a Tycoon
Chapter 383
Vespera slowed down. She was conflicted about whether she should interfere.
While pondering, a slightly plump middle-aged woman in a gown walked out from a room. She faked a bright, enthusiastic smile as she walked toward Fawn.
Both of them walked while chatting. They seemed to be heading in the direction of the mask room.
"That is..." Fawn had noticed Vespera standing in the corridor. Upon noticing Vespera, she found her rather familiar. A vague memory seemed to tug at her heartstrings.
Initially, Vespera decided against saying anything. She had already been through enough, so she couldn''t be bothered whether someone was in trouble. At most, she would make an anonymous police report.
However, everyone had noticed her and was looking in her direction. It seemed like it was meant to be.
Vespera walked over. "Good evening."
"This is our VIP guest for tonight," Mrs. Dawson exined while secretly feeling nervous. Why did Vespera show up all of a sudden?
Fawn shook hands with Vespera graciously. Emily had exined earlier that the purpose of a masquerade ball tonight was to remove any barriers. Everyone would disregard their identities and chat freely.
Fawn greeted Vespera. "Hello! Your mask is gorgeous."
"Is it? Shall I help you pick yours?" Vespera responded naturally. To her, Fawn was lucky that she could help her out of this mess.
Fawn immediately agreed. "That''s amazing. I''m sure youngdies like you have better taste than we do."
Emily was at a loss for words. Although she didn''t want Vespera to enter the mask room, she had no other choice.
One, Vespera was a guest. Two, if Emily disagreed, that might raise Fawn''s suspicions.
Emily could only say, "Sure. Let''s pick a mask together."
They entered the room filled with masks hanging on the wall. Fawn was taken aback by the wide assortment of masks. "They look lovely."
"Actually, I''ve already set aside a special mask for you. It''s intricately made," Emily said, seizing the moment.
But Emily had to consider Vespera''s feelings, as she had no idea which wealthy family Vespera was from. Hence, Emily lowered her voice as if she were whispering to Fawn.
Fawn was delighted to hear Emily''s remark. Who wouldn''t enjoy being fawned over?
Vespera pretended not to have heard Emily whispering to Fawn. Instead, she earnestly went through the masks.
Emily asked someone to set the golden mask back on the table. Indeed, it looked luxurious.
"That''s not bad." Fawn was intrigued by the design. She turned to ask Vespera, "What do you think of this?"
Vespera cast a nce at the mask. "It''s quite nice, but I find it too shy. It doesn''t suit your refined and elegant demeanor, Madam. I think thatvender one looks better."
Fawn did like the golden mask and its luxurious design. But upon hearing Vespera praise her for her refined and elegant demeanor, she couldn''t bear to show up as shy.
"I''ll go with your suggestion. Thevender one it is."
Emily was surprised but quickly added, "A young woman won''t know what actually looks good on you. This golden mask suits your ck gown, Madam. For sure."
Vespera added casually, "ck and gold! Oh, that''s definitely not what youngsters go for these days. It''s so tacky!"
Fawn pointed at thevender mask with determination. "I want that one!"
Emily was about to faint out of exasperation. Vespera had definitely messed things up for her!
The person beside Emily nced at her, gesturing for her to think of another way. Emily returned her gaze meaningfully.
What could Emily do? She couldn''t force Fawn into wearing a golden mask. She had to find some other way.
Emily personally took thevender mask down and helped Fawn put it on. Then, she showed her reflection in the mirror. "Indeed! Young women have better taste."
Vespera added with a smile. "Right? Madam, you look ten years younger now. You look like you''re in your early 20s!"
"Oh, aren''t you sweet?" Fawn was delighted.
Vespera knew that the greatestpliment for a woman in her 50s was to hear that she looked like she was in her 20s. As long as she was happy it didn''t matter whether it was true. That praise was perfect for all middle-aged women around the world.
"Alright! Since you''re the hostess, you can''t just apany me the whole time. Others will feel shunned. I can go in on my own," Fawn said casually.
Emily asked, "Didn''t you say you''d bring your goddaughter? Where is she?"
Fawn replied, "She''s busy, so she couldn''t be here."
Emily nodded. It was a good thing Fawn''s goddaughter couldn''t be here.
At the mention of Emily being the hostess, Vespera instantly knew that she was
Mrs. Dawson. However, Vespera had no idea who Fawn was, and there was no need to know.
"I''ll leave for now. My friends are still waiting for me inside." Vespera decided to leave now. She had already taken such a risk. If she continued hanging around Fawn, Emily might start targeting her as well. ?wnovel
However, Fawn said, "Let''s go inside together."
Vespera was speechless. She didn''t want to get involved with Fawn, but had no choice. "Sure! Let''s go in together."
Both of them left the room. Vespera sighed to herself. If only Reba and Yasmine knew what trouble she had caused.
Fawn walked beside Vespera while looking at her. Vespera''s long hai was styled in an updo, showing off her wless neck. She even noticed a small mole on her ear. The side profile...
Instantly, Fawn''s memory became clear. Many years ago, Mirabelle, her best
friend, also once wore a mint green gown like that.
Fawn still remembered Mirabelle''s voice, smile, and the mole on her ear.
"Mira, it''s you..."
"Oh? What was that?" Vespera had been feeling disturbed at the moment. Upon hearing Fawn mutter to herself, she came to her senses and turned to gaze at
her.
All Vespera saw was Fawn looking at her tearfully.
Oh? What happened?
"Madam, did the mask scratch you?"
"Oh, no, no. I just thought of the past and got emotional."
Vespera was speechless. How did Fawn end up thinking about the past? Also,
she looked like someone who would fall for a phone scam.
Fawn realized she had lost herposure and felt thankful for the mask. At least, things would be less awkward.
"Apologies. Once you get older, you tend to reminisce about the past. May I know which family you''re from? I might know your parents."
