The doorbell rang. Reba and Wanda both turned toward the door.

"Ba, didn''t you say this apartment only has one unit per floor and that not even a cat could wander up here?" Wanda asked.

Reba didn''t know what to say. She got up and said, "I''ll go and check."

Then, she quickly headed to the door, thoughts racing. Weren''t Vespera and Dominic exhausted from the business trip? Did they not have jetg? Why couldn''t they hold back? And who the hell was ringing the doorbell? Did they not know howplex the situation was?

Reba opened the door furiously and saw that the person standing outside was none other than Raymond. She greeted, "Mr. Chandler, it''s you."

Raymond was just as surprised. He said, "Ms. Snyder, what brings you here this early?"

Reba didn''t let Raymond enter. Instead, she slipped out and pulled him aside. She leaned in and whispered, "Mr. Chandler, Vespera''s mother is here. I think it''s better if youe backter."

There was no way Reba could exin all this. If even Raymond could waltz in unannounced, what about Dominic? Dominic would probably just enter like he owned the ce. And if that happened, Wanda would explode.

The moment Raymond heard that Vespera''s mother was around, he understood the situation. He nodded and turned to leave.

However, before Raymond could get far, Wanda stepped out and asked, "Who is it?"

Wanda looked puzzled. Then, Raymond calmly made up an exnation, saying, "Ms. Gildon wasn''t feeling wellst night. Mr. Reid heard and came to check on her. She had a high fever, so it wasn''t safe for her to be alone. So, he stayed to take care of her."

The second Raymond said that, Raymond knew exactly who he was. Her expression didn''t soften. A fever? Took care of Vespera?

Wanda didn''t believe Raymond, but she just replied, her gazending on the stuff

in his hand, "Is that so? And you''re here now because..."

Raymond caught on quickly and said with a smile, "I brought some food. Even though Ms. Gildon''s fever has subsided, she should still eat something."

Reba felt numb. She had said Vespera went to work, but Raymond said Vespera had fallen ill. Aside from that, there were noisesing from the bedroom as well. The cat was also still pawing at the door. How did everything go downhill this fast?  s

To Reba''s surprise, Wanda said, as if she suddenly epted the exnation, "So, she really is sick. Ba tried to cover for her, and neither of them came out. That''s why I got the wrong idea."

Reba couldn''t tell, but she quickly responded, "Mrs. Gildon, I misunderstood too. I panicked and didn''t want you to worry, so I made something up. If Mr. Chandler hadn''t shown up, we would all still be misunderstanding the situation." "Go and call them out," said Wanda.

Reba answered, "Alright, I''ll call them right away."

Nheless, once she turned around, her smile dropped. What should she do? Should she actually call Vespera and Dominic out and have them face Wanda?

Dragging her feet to the bedroom door, Reba stopped behind the cat and knocked on the door. She said, "Vera, Mr. Chandler brought breakfast. He says eating will help. you recover faster from your ever. Let Mr. Reid, who has taken care of you all night,e out too. Everyone''s waiting outside."  s

Vespera froze upon hearing that. Dominic pulled down the hand she had used earlier to cover his mouth and said, "It looks like we have to go out."

Vespera knelt on the bed, her mind running quickly. If they were going out there, how could they make it believable?

Vespera nced at Dominic and

Calmly, Dominic replied, "It would be better if you hold a knife to my throat." When Vespera heard that, she nearly choked on her own breath.

After a pause, Vespera released Dominic and cupped his face. With a fierce expression but gentle smile, she said, "How could I ever be rough with you? I''m trying to be reasonable. Just do as I say this time, alright?"

Seeing that Dominic didn''t react, Vespera nted a kiss on his cheek and repeated, "Alright, Dom?"
