Margaret jumped in and said, "Over the past week, a bunch of women from wealthy families have tried and failed. Mrs. Reid just takes one look at their pictures and says that they weren''t her. I wonder what kind of stunning beauty this mystery woman must be."

The woman, who had started the gossip, looped them back to the juiciest part. She began, "Anyway, you were talking about those women Mrs. Reid refused to meet. But Ms. Monroe actually got invited to the Reid residence. Mrs. Gordon helped arrange it.

"Apparently, Mrs. Reid asked Mrs. Gordon to help search, and Mrs. Gordon matched Mrs. Reid with Ms. Monroe based on those clues. Mrs. Gordon probably figured it was a win-win. But Ms. Monroe was a total disaster.

"Ms. Monroe showed up like she owned everything and didn''t know how to read the room. She insisted she was the woman in the green dress. Mrs. Reid was so irritated that she called Ms. Monroe out right there on the spot and sent her home humiliated. Mrs. Gordon was livid."

All the women listening burst intoughter, but Yasmine wasn''t paying attention. She was still reeling from the revtion that Vespera had saved Dominic''s mother. And the Reid family was serious about finding the woman. And if Vespera didn''t speak up soon, someone else might just im her spot.

"I''m sorry. Something came up. I have to go," said Yasmine, standing up abruptly. Then, she sprinted out of the estate.

Once Yasmine was outside, she gave Vespera a call to break the news. However, Vespera was currently in a meeting and had put her phone on silent mode.

Yasmine contacted someone to pass the message to Fawn. She didn''te right out and say she knew who the woman in the green dress was. Instead, she imed she was one of the women in the corridor who had helped Fawn escape that night.

She figured that at this point, Fawn was probably tired of hearing people iming they were the woman in the green dress. But if she could offer a detail only someone truly present that night would know, it might change the game.

Two quick phone callster, Yasmine got into her car and curled up in the back seat, trying to call Vespera again.

There was still no answer. What on earth was Vespera up to?

Later, Yasmine gave Reba a call instead. After a few rings, the call connected. Yasmine went full drama as she said excitedly, "Ba, guess who one of the two women we rescued that night turned out to be? You''ll never guess!"

Reba was deep in a stack of paperwork, her head pounding. She leaned back in her chair and replied dryly, "Dominic''s mom?"

Yasmine froze. She asked, "Ba, are you psychic or something?"

Reba rubbed her temples. She chuckled and said, "Let''s not pretend. I am a bit of a psychic. Let me do a deduction..."

Yasmine cut in and said, "I''m just joking."

Her exaggerated expression dropped, and her tone changed as she asked, "So, Vespera already knows about this? And you guys didn''t even tell me? Am I no longer part of this friend group? I''m deeply hurt."

Reba, who was still in the middle of deducting, froze. A whileter, she sighed and replied, "We just found out yesterday. Technically, it''s still a guess. Besides, Vera doesn''t n oning forward."

Yasmine asked, "Why not? What does she need to consider?"

Since Yasmine had already found out, Reba decided to tell Yasmine about Vespera''s worries. After hearing the reason, Yasmine nodded and said, "It makes sense that she thinks that way, but if she doesn''t want to step up, I can make sure Mrs. Reid finds her."  s

"Finds her?" Reba straightened her back.

"Vespera is like someone who got bitten by a snake, and now flinches at every rope she sees, even if it''s harmless. But sometimes avoidance only makes things worse. If Fawn turns out to be another Felicia, at least Vespera can stop before things get out of hand.  s

"But if Fawn is decent and changes the way she thinks after finding out that Vespera was the one who saved her, things between Vespera and Dominic will get a whole lot easier.

"Vespera is too stuck in her own head. Her past keeps making her hesitant. Since we''re outside the situation, we can see clearly. Sometimes, we have to break the loop."

Yasmine analyzed the situation. Upon hearing everything, Reba chuckled and said, "What you said makes sense, but yanking someone out of theirfort zone too hard might backfire."

To that, Yasmine responded, "Don''t worry. Vespera is the type who rises to a challenge. Be too soft with her, and she turns into melted butter. Push a little, and she turns into a cactus, prickly but resilient.  s

"So, what''s the n?" Reba asked, almost convinced. She agreed that it was worth the shot.

Yasmine raised her hand and admired her beautiful manicure as she said, "Leave it to me. I''ll make sure this encounter is nothing short of fabulous.:

The meeting Vespera attended had finally ended. When she stepped out of the meeting room, she saw two missed calls from Yasmine and immediately returned the call. She asked, "I was in a meeting. What''s up?"

Yasmine answered, "Vera, are you still mad at me?"

"No. I got over it a long time ago," answered Vespera.

"It sounds like you''re still holding a grudge. How about I treat you to dinner tonight?" Yasmine asked.

"Tonight..." Vespera hesitated. She had originally nned to talk to Dominic tonight ande clean about everything.

Sensing Vespera''s hesitation, Yasmine immediately turned up the dramatics and muttered, "You won''t even have dinner with me now? You really don''t love me anymore."

Vespera paused before responding, "Alright. I''ll have dinner with you. Don''t be sad. Otherwise, I''ll feel guilty."

"Great! I''ll text you the restaurant detailster," replied Yasmine. "Alright," answered Vespera before ending the call and returning to her office.

A few minutester, the internal line rang. Vespera picked up the call, and Dominic''s voice came through. He said, "Come with me to a g tonight."
