Dual Cultivation: Ying Yang is way to Chaos
Chapter 238: Soul-Bound
CHAPTER 238: SOUL-BOUND
" As for those who fail to reach the top in three hours, well, they still have a chance and that is to eliminate at least ten cultivators on the steps. If you do so then you will be allowed to enter."
Hearing that drained the blood from many cultivators’ faces.
Most of them knew it would be perilous to enter the test since the spirit consciousness had mentioned it beforehand, but they didn’t know that it would be dangerous because they would be targeted by each other.
It wasn’t even a matter of safe zone or not. If there had only been no safe zone then everyone would have focused on climbing the steps while conserving their strength so they could reach the top. But now it was totally different. Knowing that killing would get them the same result, many cultivators would try this method.
This wasn’t a test. It was basically a slaughter arena and those who were weaker or didn’t have the backing of strong groups would be crushed first.
"For the fairness of this test, you have to keep a few points in mind. You can’t attack in groups. If two cultivators are fighting, then you can’t sneak-attack them either. Even if their fight is finished, you have to wait thirty breaths before attacking them. Also, if two cultivators are fighting for more than twenty minutes, then you can attack them without any consequences. Other than that, you can do whatever you want..."
When everyone heard that they felt at least a little calmer than before. They were most afraid of Yin Yang Harmony Sect and Crimson Flame Palace grouping together and hunting them down.
"There is one more thing. Even though you all will be forced to enter the steps, after one hour if you want to leave you can leave. That’s all you need to know. Now prepare yourselves. After ten minutes a pathway will be created from this location to the mountain steps and that will be the start of the test."
So basically if they could survive one hour then they would be free to leave and survive. That made it a little more appealing.
While others were preparing themselves mentally to enter the test which might be their last, Lin Feng thought for a moment and smiled. "I will be right back. Wait here."
The others nodded. Although they were quite curious where he was going, they wouldn’t have minded going along with him but it seemed he wanted to go alone.
Lin Feng entered a nearby residence and activated the array. He took out his wind saber which he had gotten from the first ruin. It was very light, a benefit of being attuned to the wind element.
At Soul Sea Realm cultivators can refine weapons to make them their soul-bound weapon, but refining weapons takes time. It depends on a few things: how well you can control your spiritual qi, what grade of weapon you are refining, and what your strength is compared to it.
Just like how cultivators take time to master control over their spirit qi and blood qi, spiritual qi also takes time to master. Just because you reached Soul Sea Realm didn’t mean that you have good control over it.
Well, this was only true for others. For Lin Feng though none of this was a problem. He could feel inherent mastery over his spiritual qi, and the strength of his spiritual qi would depend on the type of qi he used to create it. In this case it would be pure yang qi.
But to speed up the process of refinement even further he would use another qi: chaos qi. This was the reason he entered the residence.
When he was outside the residence he always felt a gaze on him. It was from the consciousness of the senior, but when he was inside the residence this gaze disappeared.
Even though this senior was dead and only a fraction of his will remained, Lin Feng wouldn’t use chaos qi in front of him. Being cautious in matters regarding chaos was a must for him.
He held the saber in his hand and willed the formation of spiritual qi from pure yang qi. It happened instantly. He controlled it and enveloped the whole saber.
Spiritual qi is invisible to the naked eye and even with spiritual sense you can’t exactly see it. You can only sense it. That’s why cultivators are only able to sense the spiritual sense of someone but not tell whose spiritual sense it was.
Of course there are techniques which allow you to see through it, but he doubted anyone in this world had something like that.
The saber was getting refined and it would have been refined in around ten minutes with only yang spiritual qi, but he decided to finish it faster. He willed and stirred his chaos qi.
Every elevation of cultivation realm increases the strength of the qi you hold in your core or body. His chaos qi was similarly early stage grade 4 in strength, but even then it was far stronger than his own pure yang qi.
The moment he used chaotic spiritual qi the refinement speed increased drastically and in only a few breaths he felt a deep connection with the saber.
He smiled and let go of the saber and controlled it with his spiritual sense. Now this saber had become his soul-bound weapon and in half the range of his spiritual sense he could control it with a mere thought.
He willed it and the saber immediately moved towards his forehead and disappeared. Lin Feng entered his soul sea and saw it floating above the soul sea.
He nodded inwardly and came out of his soul sea before calling the saber back and catching it in his hand.
While holding it he went towards the entrance of the residence. He put the saber behind a pillar near the gate and went back to Bai Lian, Pei Lingxi and Lian Zhi.
