CHAPTER 242: COLLECTING THE RINGS

With their almost double pace Pei Lingxi and Lian Zhi reached the cultivator holding the rings at the four hundred and eightieth step.

The cultivator flinched seeing them. He was already out of breath and he wanted to stop somewhere to rest but who knew if that would trigger the devil, so he was determined not to stop.

Pei Lingxi and Lian Zhi didn’t stop and crossed him. After twenty more steps they entered the clouds. After moving ten more steps Lin Feng patted Pei Lingxi. "That’s enough. Stop for a moment."

After they stopped Lin Feng looked at them. "You guys should go. I will catch up with you soon."

Pei Lingxi and Lian Zhi nodded and they moved on.

Lin Feng waited for the cultivator to catch up.

It took some time but the cultivator reached his location. The clouds were denser on the steps so you could only see up to two steps ahead.

When the cultivator saw him he almost took a step back. Lin Feng shook his head. "Come up."

The cultivator got stunned. Was this masked cultivator the one who controlled the saber? It was almost impossible to believe. Wait a second, was this guy trying to just impersonate the saber wielder to take the rings?

He shook his head internally. Jumping to conclusions could kill him. He decided to talk first. "A-are you the one?"

Lin Feng looked a little amused. Instead of answering he appeared instantly on the step of the cultivator and caught him by the arm. Before the cultivator could react Lin Feng pulled him and started climbing up at quite a fast pace.

Hearing the cold voice of the masked cultivator the cultivator flinched in fear. Even if this masked cultivator wasn’t the saber wielder he could still kill him with his strength, so there was no point in denying. He took out the rings he had tied in a silk cloth and passed them to him.

Lin Feng took the cloth and after looking inside to see the one hundred and sixty-three rings he nodded. "Good. Now take a heavenly oath on your life..."
