CHAPTER 192: DESTROY THE CURSED (9)
Chapter 192
Farther across the war-torn landscape, Han stood silently beside Clara and Ronan, surveying the battlefield with his arms crossed. Clara narrowed her eyes and muttered, "I don’t think we’re even needed at this point..."
It was true. Their original plan had been to assist the main force and hunt down the dark emissaries lurking on the island. Even Aiden was supposed to be part of their squad, but he had stayed behind, driven by a need to protect the frontlines. Like them, he didn’t want any more heroes dying today.
Everything seemed to be going according to plan.
Just as they turned to leave—intent on finding a way into the cursed stronghold hidden deep within the island—Han suddenly stopped in his tracks. Clara and Ronan followed his gaze. There was a strange intensity in Han’s expression, his eyes narrowed and darkened with foreboding.
"Don’t tell me..." Ronan muttered, scanning the horizon.
At first, he saw nothing. Just the distant shimmer of the ocean under the island sun. But then—movement. Dozens... no, hundreds of small dark figures rapidly closing the distance. Tiny dots at first, but growing clearer by the second. The ground trembled faintly beneath their coordinated charge.
Han’s expression remained calm, but his voice was grave. "This battle is far from over."
He stepped forward, and in that instant, white sparks crackled across his body. In a burst of light, seven identical clones materialized beside him, each one pulsing with power. With a nod to his copies, Han fixed his gaze on the oncoming swarm of new scorpion beasts, their screeches rising to a maddening pitch.
"Where the hell are all these things coming from?" he thought, narrowing his eyes. There were no signs of a spatial portal. No shift in the air to suggest dimensional travel. Something was wrong.
Clara and Aiden snapped out of their shock. There was no time to hesitate. If these new hordes joined the battlefront, the already weakened heroes would be overwhelmed in minutes.
Ronan stepped forward and unsheathed his sword, crossing the sleek blade in front of him. He glanced at the strange, newly-forged weapon in his grip and couldn’t hide the flicker of frustration in his eyes. He missed his original blade—the one Han had accidentally destroyed during a previous battle. He shot a slightly annoyed look at Han but quickly shook it off. Now wasn’t the time for regrets.
"No time to feel sorry," he muttered under his breath. His eyes lit up with a sharp, violet glow—the Eye of Precision activating. In the blink of an eye, Ronan vanished from sight, using his Switch skill to launch himself directly into the incoming wave of monsters.
At that exact moment, the horde of newly arrived scorpion beasts merged with the first wave, forming a single massive front. The heroes on the battlefield felt it instantly—a shift in pressure, a surge in their enemies’ numbers.
Clara didn’t remain idle for long. Around her, several glowing white spheres emerged, orbiting her like sentinels. They spun faster and faster until they converged onto her body in a synchronized burst of light. A blinding flash erupted—and when it faded, a full-body suit had formed over her, sleek and pristine in radiant blue and white.
But that wasn’t the end.
With a calm breath, Clara tapped the surface of her chestplate. A low hum resonated through the air, followed by a sequence of rippling waves traveling across the armor. The suit began to shift, adapt, and evolve—plates of white and gold folded over one another like blooming petals, sharpening into a more refined, majestic design. The once-simple helmet expanded, forming a winged crest that framed her head with regal authority. The boots retracted and extended with hydraulic precision, adding stabilizers at the heel. Her gauntlets lengthened and fused with radiant circuits of golden energy that traced up her arms.
Finally, the transformation completed—Clara now stood tall in her upgraded battle suit: Version 2.0. It was sleek, formidable, and elegant—white as moonlight, lined with veins of gold, and glowing softly with power.
"Version 2.0... activated," she muttered with a determined glint in her eyes.
In the next second, Clara blasted forward, piercing through the chaotic battlefield like a streak of lightning. She launched herself directly into the raging storm of beasts, her armor gleaming with each movement as she carved a path of destruction with grace and precision.
Meanwhile, a roaring inferno erupted from the sky like the breath of a god.
A massive plume of flame descended in a wide arc, consuming everything beneath it. Scorpion beasts and other monstrous creatures shrieked and scattered, but it was far too late—the blaze devoured them in moments. The ground hissed and cracked beneath the heat.
From the heart of the inferno, Han landed.
His feet touched the scorched earth with casual ease, both hands tucked in his pockets. He calmly scanned the battlefield. His expression darkened—not in fear, but in sharp calculation.Even with their intervention, even with their overwhelming power, there were simply too many enemies. The numbers... they weren’t normal.
They could kill them all, yes.
But could they save everyone before the cost became too high?
His eyes narrowed.
He needed to tip the scale—not just fight. And he had just the right skill to do it.
Han slowly pulled his hands free. His fingernails lengthened and glowed, morphing into sharpened white claws. His canines elongated subtly, barely visible as he slightly hunched forward. A low, primal growl began to build in his chest. Power coiled around him like a predator preparing to pounce.
Then—he threw his head back—
And roared.
A sound so loud, so bone-deep, it echoed across the battlefield like a shockwave. It wasn’t just noise—it was a command. A declaration. It rattled through the bones of ally and enemy alike. The skies trembled. The battlefield silenced for a split second.
The system blink to life as a message was displayed.
Skill Activated: LION ROAR.
