CHAPTER 101: CHAPTER 102 MEDDLING IN AFFAIRS ONCE TOO OFTEN
The man frowned and grabbed Mabel Quinn’s other hand as well.
Now, both of Mabel Quinn’s hands were held by the man.
"Sorry, I just wanted to know if you could see, that’s why..." she quickly apologized. No matter what, her actions just now were quite rude.
The man had a noticeable displeasure on his face, "Do my eyes look like I can’t see?" It could be said that he hated it the most when others made remarks about his eyes, after all, there was a long period in his life when his eyes were in total darkness.
Mabel shook her head, even though the man’s eyes seemed to have a sense of emptiness and desolation, they were indeed normal eyes, not the ones she had imagined.
"Next time, don’t make that gesture casually in front of me," he said. If it had been a few years ago, he might have directly had her hands cut off.
"Oh." She responded. She wouldn’t randomly make that gesture in front of people anyway, "Are your eyes uncomfortable? Do you want me to massage them for you?"
"No need," he said, releasing her hands. He wasn’t used to letting strangers touch him, though the woman in front of him wasn’t repulsive to him. Earlier, he had heard the door open and mistakenly thought that the person coming in was the one he was waiting for.
Mabel shrugged and didn’t insist, she just started looking for the so-called investigation report around the meeting room. After looking around, she indeed didn’t find even a sheet of paper. Mabel knew that Lyra Grant was deliberately making things difficult for her, and staying in the meeting room to search would just waste time.
While she was looking for the report, the man’s faint groaning occasionally reached her ears. Mabel turned to look at the man, and saw that he still kept his head down, eyes closed, rubbing his temples. However, he was clearly very uncomfortable, so much so that his actions were almost like clawing.
Mabel thought for a moment, quickly walked out of the meeting room, and returned moments later, stepping up to the man, and suddenly cupping his face with her hands, making him tilt his face up.
The man was about to push her away when she quickly said, "Don’t move." Then, she placed a small steamy towel over his closed eyes, her fingers rhythmically massaging his temples.
The needle-prick-like pain and discomfort in his eyes gradually subsided. He usually didn’t like physical contact with strangers, but strangely, he didn’t reject her.
A blind person, when their eyesight fails, other senses become more acute. Having been blind for over a decade, he was naturally sensitive to smells, and now with his eyes closed, the refreshing and natural fragrance from her body wafted to his nose.
It was mild and not unpleasant at all.
The heat from the towel, combined with her fingers massaging, made his eyes feel much more comfortable, so he didn’t resist further, allowing Mabel Quinn’s fingers to knead his temples.
When Colton Duncan, the CEO of Morningstar Group, walked into the meeting room and saw the scene before him, he almost thought he had entered the wrong room.
"You two—" Even Colton Duncan, usually calm and composed, was momentarily at a loss for words.
"CEO!" Although Mabel had only been at Morningstar for just over a month, she had still seen Colton Duncan from a distance, so as soon as she saw Colton Duncan walk in, she stopped what she was doing and turned to face him.
