Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife
Chapter 103 - 104: The Stolen Longevity Lock
CHAPTER 103: CHAPTER 104: THE STOLEN LONGEVITY LOCK
At the same time, Kyle Kinston hadn’t returned to the mansion for several days, and naturally, the servants treated Mabel Quinn with even more neglect.
She overheard the servants talking behind her back more than once, saying that a sparrow would always be a sparrow, never a phoenix, and living in the mansion was nothing more than a pipe dream. Some bold and young servants would even say sarcastic things to her face.
Mabel just smiled and paid no mind to it. Since the words came from others’ mouths, if she cared about everything, it would only make herself unhappy with no other benefits.
That evening, when Mabel returned to the mansion and pushed open her bedroom door, she saw a servant inside her room.
The servant was startled by her sudden entrance, turned pale, and said, "Miss Mabel, you’re back."
"What are you doing?" Mabel asked suspiciously.
"I was just helping tidy up your room. Since you’re back, I’ll take my leave," the servant said hurriedly and left.
Mabel glanced around her room; it seemed almost the same as when she left that morning, and nothing appeared to be tidied. Moreover, she hadn’t noticed any cleaning tools in the servant’s hands earlier.
But when she walked over to the dressing table by the bed, she frowned. One of the dressing table drawers wasn’t fully closed, and a part of it was slightly protruding.
She had opened that drawer earlier in the morning and closed it tight afterwards, she was sure of it.
Mabel quickly pulled open the drawer and inspected its contents.
Upon checking, she immediately found that a longevity lock bracelet was missing. This bracelet was one her father had given her to wear since she was a child. As she grew older and could no longer wear it, her father told her to keep it well.
Her father had told her that every child born into the Quinn Family’s main house received such a longevity lock bracelet. As a child of the Quinn Family’s branch, she originally wasn’t supposed to have this bracelet, but her father had persistently begged for one for her from the main house, something not even given to her older brother. Her mother often complained why her father hadn’t begged for one for her brother as well.
After her father passed away, the bracelet was like a piece of her father’s love for her. And now, the bracelet was gone.
The bracelet was made of gold and had a fair weight. If sold at current gold prices, it could fetch tens of thousands of dollars.
Mabel pursed her lips, firmly looked at the drawer, and then turned and walked out of the room.
At this time, most of the servants had returned to their quarters at the back, so Mabel went straight to the entrance of the servants’ quarters and said to the housekeeper in charge of managing them, "I’d like to see all the servants who have ever entered my room. Please help gather them."
The housekeeper, a woman in her forties, looked disdainfully at Mabel upon hearing this, "You think you can summon just because you said so? Miss Quinn, this is the Kinston mansion, not the Quinn mansion. I’m paid by Mr. Kinston and take orders from Mr. Kinston. Some people, without the status of a master, shouldn’t act like one."
Seeing Mr. Kinston bring a woman to live with him, these servants naturally treated Mabel with utmost respect initially, but recently, the CEO had apparently become cold towards her, not even showing up. Naturally, they wouldn’t give her any good face either.
