CHAPTER 112: CHAPTER 113: BECAUSE OF FATE

As for asking her brother for the 5000 dollars, Mabel Quinn thought it was unlikely, given that her brother often asked their mother for money himself.

He stared at her, his dark eyes unfathomable, "Did you come all the way to the Corporation just to tell me this?"

Gulp!

She couldn’t help swallowing the saliva suddenly secreted in her throat and humbly asked, "Then what should I say?"

Kyle Kinston’s eyes flickered, what was he expecting? What did he want to hear from her?

Suddenly, he stood up and walked toward her. His tall figure loomed over her, casting a shadow that gave her a huge sense of oppression. She instinctively moved her feet, wanting to step back.

But before she could take a step back, he quickly wrapped his left arm around her waist, "Mabel Quinn, have you thought about me these days?"

She widened her eyes at him, oh, Mr. CEO, doesn’t he know how ambiguous his words are?

These days, of course, she’d thought about Kyle, thinking about what he intended to do with her, wondering when she could leave the Kinston mansion, but if she answered "yes" now, it would only make the atmosphere even more ambiguous.

So Mabel simply answered with two words, "I haven’t."

The CEO’s face fell immediately, all those days he had been filled with thoughts of her, even dreaming of her walking away at night, waking up in a cold sweat. Yet this woman said "haven’t" so bluntly.

"So even if those servants stole your things, you didn’t come to tell me, you went to solve it on your own," he said abruptly.

Mabel was not surprised that Kyle knew about it, after all, just days later, a batch of servants was dismissed from the Kinston mansion.

"There’s no need to disturb you over such matters," Mabel said.

"What if I want to be disturbed?" he replied.

She blinked, momentarily unsure of what to say.

He suddenly leaned down, his lips close to her ear, murmuring lowly, "How much longer do you think you’ll stay at the Kinston mansion? Mabel Quinn, have you forgotten? Our contract lasts a lifetime, unless one of us dies, then it’s over."

A chill shot up her spine, her whole body stiffened, staring blankly at his face so close to hers, his face, still so beautiful, captivating many women but also inciting fear.

As if he could see through her thoughts, leaving her no room to retreat. Was it because he had been in the military, experienced life and death, that he could speak of death so easily?

"Why?" She wasn’t sure if she was asking why it was her, or why the contract existed.

"Because of fate." His answer was only these three words.

Because she was his destiny, once met, it was fated to be a lifelong entanglement.

As Mabel was pondering the meaning of Kyle’s words, he suddenly pulled her into his arms, resting his face gently on her shoulder, seemingly helpless, yet with an inexplicable emotion even he couldn’t articulate, "You know, these days, I have thought of you."
