Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife
Chapter 117 - 118: Going Home for Dinner
CHAPTER 117: CHAPTER 118: GOING HOME FOR DINNER
However, when she was writing at the Corporation, Lilith saw it inadvertently, so Lilith asked her for a copy to read. Unexpectedly, things turned out this way, and both Lilith and Supervisor Fang became unwitting witnesses in her favor.
Perhaps now, her state of mind is no longer the same as it was back then, so rereading the novel from those days gives her different insights. Naturally, even if the plot is the same, the perspectives will differ.
Looking at the words she once typed out, Mabel Quinn’s mind flashed back to that darkest time in high school. This time, she neither wants nor intends to yield. She will make sure her work proudly bears her own name!
The next day at work, Mabel Quinn received a call from her mother.
"You haven’t come home for quite a while. Even if work is busy, you should come back more often. Come home tonight and have dinner with me and your brother," Evelina said over the phone.
Mabel Quinn was a bit surprised. Rarely would her mother say such things to her, so after ending the call, she felt a little excited.
Perhaps her mother does care about her, even if just a little.
Seeing the smile on Mabel Quinn’s lips, Lilith couldn’t help but ask, "What’s going on, any good news?"
"Hmm, sort of." She smiled lightly.
"Could it be a handsome guy called you?" Lilith teased.
"What are you thinking?" Mabel Quinn rolled her eyes.
"No matter what I’m thinking, in any case, both you and Lyra Grant are writing the latter part of the script draft this time. You better not lose. Now, everyone thinks I’m your accomplice! That Crayon Mian Mian even said I’m aiding and abetting evil. It drives me mad. When you win, let her see who’s truly evil," Lilith huffed.
Mabel Quinn also knew that because of what Lilith said in the meeting, some people thought they were colluding.
"I will strive to write the script well," Mabel Quinn replied.
Only then did Lilith contentedly return to her seat.
Putting away her phone, Mabel Quinn returned to the computer to continue working. This time, to prevent the scenario of someone stealing another’s script draft from happening again, the chief editor ordered that whatever content Mabel Quinn and Lyra Grant wrote every day must be printed before they clock out and submitted to him for review.
By the time she brought the printed script to the chief editor’s office after work, Mabel Quinn saw Lyra Grant coming out of the office.
But when Lyra Grant looked at her, her eyes didn’t hold the same resentment as yesterday. Instead, there was a smug look, as if watching a good show.
After submitting the draft, the chief editor didn’t say much, only advising her to write diligently and not be affected by outside factors.
The chief editor is a seasoned scriptwriter, nearing 50, who has penned many popular films. Mabel Quinn has great respect for him.
After work, Mabel Quinn returned home. Her mother and brother were already there, and her mother had cooked a table full of dishes, nearly all of which were Mabel Quinn’s favorites.
"Go wash your hands and sit down for dinner," Evelina said.
Cecil Quinn quickly added, "Mabel, mom spent quite a bit of time cooking this meal, so make sure you eat a lot."
