CHAPTER 123: CHAPTER 124 COMPLAINING
What’s going on?
Suddenly, the pub quieted down, while those uniformed people seemed to be searching for something in the pub.
The two men who had intended to cozy up to Mabel Quinn didn’t dare utter a word. They silently cursed their bad luck—just when they had almost caught a fish, it was thwarted by this group of unknown people.
However, they still didn’t want to give up on Mabel Quinn so easily. They decided to wait until these people left, then make a move. Meanwhile, they kept Mabel’s head down, afraid she might attract attention.
It wasn’t long before a tall figure walked into the pub. The leader of the uniformed men quickly approached him.
"Where are they?" Kyle Kinston asked.
"We’re searching for them; it should be soon," the other replied.
By now, the dim lighting of the pub had already been replaced with normal lighting, brightening the whole place. Clearly, the leader had already spoken with the pub owner in advance. Kyle’s gaze roamed over the men and women in the pub, trying to find the figure he was worried about.
Mabel Quinn, who had been held down by the two men, suddenly struggled free. She pushed them away and looked up to see Kyle Kinston standing in the middle of the pub. She immediately shouted, "Kyle... Kyle Kinston..."
Her shout drew the attention of everyone in the pub to her.
Kyle quickly stepped forward, and Mabel buried her head in his chest. His presence inexplicably made her feel at ease.
"How much did you drink?" He asked, both angry and anxious. Her tolerance for alcohol was terrible, yet she dared to drink alone in a small pub. He couldn’t understand where she found such courage.
Mabel swayed and held up three fingers, then mumbled, "It was... beer..."
"Why did you hang up earlier?" He asked, exasperated.
She shook her head and complained, "It wasn’t me... they... they hung up..." As she spoke, her fingers pointed at the two men. "I... I wanted to leave, but they wouldn’t... let me leave..." She was like a wronged child who had finally found someone to back her up, immediately starting to complain.
Kyle’s gaze turned icy as he looked at the two men who were shrinking back. He could only imagine what might have happened if he hadn’t arrived in time.
The two men pointed out by Mabel were now sweating. They couldn’t believe her babbling about waiting for a boyfriend was true. Not only had her boyfriend shown up, but he also brought a group of people with him.
And judging by the looks of it, her boyfriend seemed to hold a significant position.
"We... I mean, miss, we really didn’t know you were waiting for a boyfriend. If we’d known you actually had a boyfriend, we wouldn’t have dared to do anything," one of them said.
"Yeah, yeah, we were just joking around earlier. Now that your boyfriend’s here, you should... you should hurry and go home with your boyfriend," the other added.
"Boyfriend?" Kyle looked down at the person in his arms. Her cheeks were flushed, and her normally lively eyes had taken on an unusual charm due to her inebriation.
