CHAPTER 127: CHAPTER 129: SLIP OF THE TONGUE
Mabel Quinn wants to fight with her? It’s still too early! She knows that she’ll be the ultimate victor. What does Mabel have? Even her own mother and brother don’t take her seriously!
Of course Lyra Grant wouldn’t just let this go, so she intended to force Mabel Quinn to apologize publicly at school, leaving a stain on Mabel’s record. That way, even if Mabel wanted to become a screenwriter in the future, no Corporation would dare hire her.
Lyra Grant was waiting for Mabel Quinn to come to her, bowing and scraping, to apologize in humiliation. She wanted to prove in front of all the colleagues that she was the one who wrote the script and that she was the one who had been wronged.
Mabel Quinn walked step by step up to Lyra Grant. "I have never intended to apologize to you, nor have I ever said anything like that. The original script was mine, so why would I apologize to someone who stole it from me?"
Lyra Grant’s face changed abruptly. "Mabel Quinn, don’t talk nonsense!"
"Exactly, Mabel, your mom and brother have been apologizing to Lyra for a long time, so why are you backtracking?" Cui Mianmian also chimed in.
"I never said any such thing, so how could I be backtracking?" Mabel Quinn retorted.
Evelina and Cecil Quinn, witnessing this scene, became somewhat anxious. Evelina hurriedly said, "Mabel, didn’t you say to me just yesterday that you stole Miss Lyra’s script and did something wrong by her, asking us to come and apologize on your behalf?"
"Exactly, Mabel, you shouldn’t be lying!" Cecil emphasized, reminding his sister not to speak recklessly. At this point, they couldn’t afford to fail.
Mabel Quinn coldly looked at her mother and brother. Even now, they were still pressuring her to give up her life for the sake of a house.
"Mabel Quinn, your mom and brother’s words are clear and direct. They wouldn’t wrong you without reason, would they? Are you playing everyone for fools?" Lyra Grant sternly accused.
"Of course, my mom and brother wouldn’t wrong me without reason. It’s just that someone offered certain benefits, so they’re saying and doing whatever that person wants." Mabel Quinn directly pointed out the fact.
Evelina and Cecil Quinn’s faces immediately turned pale, having not expected Mabel to reveal the truth in public.
"Mabel, how can you say such things about mom and me! We’re here for your own good, yet you say this! Are you trying to drive mom to her grave?" Cecil exclaimed.
Evelina stared daggers at her daughter. If it weren’t for all the people around, she probably would have directly gone up and slapped her daughter twice before dragging her away.
Mabel Quinn, however, no longer paid attention to her mother and brother, but continued to look at Lyra Grant and said, "Do you think that just because your family offered some benefits, you can invert right and wrong, and distort the facts?"
"Your mom and brother both say this about you, Mabel Quinn, you’re just making excuses!"
"It’s you making excuses. Without the benefits from your family, why would they say such things!"
"What benefits could my family possibly offer?!"
"My mom and brother were merely blinded for a moment. Do you think Money represents everything? If your family hadn’t specifically approached mine, inciting them, how would they have said such things?!" Mabel Quinn questioned loudly.
