Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife
Chapter 141 - 144-145: Destined to be Lonely for Life
CHAPTER 141: CHAPTER 144-145: DESTINED TO BE LONELY FOR LIFE
Kyle Kinston was indeed obediently lying in bed, so Mabel Quinn first wiped Kyle’s face and then unbuttoned his pajamas to wipe the sweat from his body. As expected, he had sweated quite a lot, even his pajamas were soaked. She went ahead and fetched a clean set of pajamas from his wardrobe, planning to change him into them later.
Throughout the process of wiping his sweat, his eyes were fixed on her, but unlike usual, they didn’t exert any invisible pressure on her. Instead, they seemed merely curious.
After everything was done, she too was drenched in sweat from the effort.
"You’re so nice, Sis," he said with a smile.
"It’s nothing, it’s nothing," she couldn’t help but reach out to rub his head.
After rubbing for a few seconds, she suddenly realized and swiftly stopped her hand. Oh god, what was she thinking! Was Kyle Kinston’s head something she could just casually rub?
He, however, looked at her with a puzzled expression, as if he didn’t understand why she had withdrawn her hand so quickly.
"Let’s take your temperature first," she said, finding an excuse, then took a thermometer and put it in his mouth.
Kyle obediently did as she told, behaving completely like a very well-behaved child.
After three minutes, Mabel took out the thermometer, and upon seeing the temperature of 38.2 degrees, she realized he indeed had a fever. He was probably delirious; otherwise, there was no way to explain his strange behavior.
Mabel and Kyle stared at each other wide-eyed, and the room was almost entirely silent.
This couldn’t go on forever, so Mabel cleared her throat and said, "Aren’t you going to sleep?"
"Can’t sleep," he blinked his phoenix eyes and said, "Sis, can you play with me?"
Play? Play what? He’s burning with fever and his shoulder is injured; what could he possibly play! Mabel replied, "You’re hurt now, you should be resting properly."
A look of disappointment flashed in his eyes, making Mabel feel quite guilty, so she blurted out, "How about watching some animations then?" She reflexively treated the person in front of her as a child.
But the problem is, is Kyle really a child! Mabel questioned herself.
The phoenix eyes lit up instantly, "Sis, will you really let me watch animations?"
Alright, he was indeed delirious like a child.
"Yes," Mabel said, so the person in front of her smiled once more, appearing both expectant and grateful.
Mabel suddenly felt her heart beating irregularly.
She turned on the TV in the bedroom, selected the animation channel, and let Kyle choose. He picked "Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf," which made Mabel speechless; it was indeed a children’s animation.
Kyle watched the animation with great interest, and Mabel accompanied him. During the show, she worried he might get hungry and made him a milk oatmeal packet she usually drinks.
She thought he might dislike it, but unexpectedly, he used his uninjured right hand to eat it spoon by spoon, and then said, "I like you, Sis, I wish my mom treated me as well as you do."
Mabel blushed, not expecting Kyle to declare that he liked her while delirious.
"Doesn’t your mom treat you well?" she asked, suddenly recalling his mumbled words in his sleep earlier, "Does your mom hit you?"
His phoenix eyes dimmed, but he didn’t answer her question, instead he said, "Sis, my name is Kyle, do you know why I’m called Kyle?"
"Huh? Why?" she asked, following his words.
"Because my mom said, I’m destined to be lonely all my life," he said seriously.
At that moment, Mabel was stunned.
Mabel woke up under Caleb’s watchful eyes. Of course, Kyle had woken up long before she did, making Mabel feel embarrassed, unable to convey her innocence through eye contact with Caleb.
She was supposed to be the one taking care of the patient, but instead, the patient woke up first while she was still asleep, especially since she was sleeping on Kyle’s bed.
"Caleb, handle this matter as it should be, you may leave now," Kyle said.
"Yes, Elder Kinston." Caleb left the room, still musing how Mabel was indeed special. Ordinary women wouldn’t be able to climb onto Elder Kinston’s bed, especially not the way Mabel was sleeping, actually hugging Elder Kinston.
When Caleb saw them, he was truly worried that Mabel might hold too tightly and tear open Elder Kinston’s wounds.
Early this morning, he came to check on Elder Kinston and report the situation at the police station. He didn’t expect to encounter such a scene.
Elder Kinston had woken up and asked him to report the situation directly without waking the still-sleeping Mabel.
Regarding Elder Kinston’s final words of handling the matter as usual, Caleb also understood clearly. Learning the circumstances later at the police station revealed that Mabel’s kidnapping was entirely orchestrated by her brother Cecil Quinn. All those gang members’ statements unanimously pointed out that Cecil had conflicts with Brother Biao and compensated Brother Biao with his own sister.
Thinking that Mabel had such family members, Caleb also felt sympathy. But her family was certainly blind; now Mabel is someone Elder Kinston cares about, obviously a treasure, yet her family treats her like grass, they’ll probably regret it in the future.
Caleb directly called the police station, "Proceed according to the law, arrest the person."
The person, of course, referred to Cecil Quinn.
Meanwhile, in Kyle Kinston’s bedroom, Mabel looked at Kyle and suddenly thought of something. She leaned over abruptly, reaching out to place her hand on Kyle’s forehead.
