CHAPTER 145: CHAPTER 149 NO ONE CAN HURT HER IN FRONT OF ME
Mabel looked around and saw quite a few people were present. It wasn’t appropriate to stay here arguing with her mother, so she said, "Alright, Mom, I’ll go with you to the police station."
Evelina’s face lit up with joy. She immediately grabbed her daughter and briskly walked out of the dormitory building, heading towards the school gate.
The Driver saw this and hurried to follow them.
At the school gate, Evelina pulled Mabel along, hailed a cab, and got into the taxi.
The Driver returned to the car and reported to Kyle Kinston, "Miss Qin is going with her mother to the police station."
"Follow them," Kyle instructed.
So, the Driver’s car followed behind the taxi.
At night, the police station was quiet, with only a few policemen on duty. As soon as Evelina entered the station, she started shouting, "Release my son immediately. I’ve brought my daughter here. She said she willingly went with those men; it has nothing to do with my son!"
The police naturally recognized Evelina; just over half an hour ago, she had created quite a scene here.
A policeman involved in the case stood up and said, "Please don’t shout in the police station. If it’s related to the case, you need to go through the proper procedures."
"Sorry, officer, I need to make things clear with my mother," Mabel said, then turned to her mother, "Mom, I came here with you not to change my testimony but to make it clear that I won’t change it. There’s no need for you to make a scene any longer."
"You—" Evelina’s expression changed, "Fine, you’re playing me for a fool. I’m your mother, and when I ask you to change your testimony, you must change it!"
"Mom, if you truly consider yourself my mother, you wouldn’t say something like that. When Brother did these things to me, did you feel any bit of heartache for me?" Mabel asked, but she was disappointed. In her mother’s eyes, she saw no hint of heartache, only anger.
"Are you going to change your testimony or not?" Evelina demanded harshly.
"I won’t change it," Mabel replied.
Evelina suddenly raised her hand, intending to slap her daughter hard. However, the hand was intercepted midway by another hand.
Mabel looked at Kyle Kinston, who had blocked the slap, in shock. "You... how..."
"Came following behind you," he said concisely and turned his cold gaze to Evelina, "No one can harm her in front of me."
His tone was calm, yet his presence was so imposing that no one would doubt his words. Every word seemed so powerful.
Mabel felt a warmth flow through her heart.
Evelina was stunned for a moment. Having worked in a bank for many years, she had seen all sorts of people. The aura of the person in front of her clearly marked him as someone of high status, probably wealthy or powerful.
If it were any other time, Evelina might have backed down. But with her temper flaring and her urgency to get her son out of the police station, she continued shouting defiantly, "So what if I’m disciplining my own daughter? I gave birth to her; I can treat her however I wish. Who are you to interfere in the matters between us mother and daughter!"
Kyle let out a cold laugh, applied pressure with his hand, causing Evelina to scream in pain yet rendering her helpless.
