CHAPTER 151: CHAPTER 155 WATCH ANIMATION TOGETHER
Ever since she deliberately fell into Kyle Kinston’s arms the last time, Evelyn has been trying to get close to him, but unfortunately, they have no common ground, and with Kyle being busy with work, she had no chance of getting close. Even at this restaurant, she had wandered around for several days before "coincidentally" running into Kyle.
In recent days, those voices that once envied her have all turned into mocking. She thought that the way Mr. Kinston held her meant he was interested, but during this time, he hadn’t even met her once.
This made Evelyn secretly anxious, thus prompting her to seek another opportunity to get close.
"I didn’t publicize my injury. How did you find out?" Kyle asked.
"Ah?" Evelyn was stumped. She couldn’t possibly say that she found out after much inquiry, could she?
"Moreover, you and I are not related, so there’s no need for you to worry about my injuries or visit me. Do what you ought to do; unnecessary things don’t need to be done." Kyle said coldly, with not a trace of expression on his handsome face, not even lifting his eyes.
Evelyn’s face flushed red. The unnecessary things naturally referred to what she was doing now.
"Mr. Kinston doesn’t like being disturbed while dining," Caleb said, signaling Evelyn to leave.
No matter how much Evelyn wanted to say, she could only walk away reluctantly now; if she stayed, she would only embarrass herself further.
Caleb glanced at his boss. There aren’t many women who can catch his boss’s eye, just Mabel Quinn and perhaps... that one in Falling City.
"Did you handle what I asked you to this morning?" Kyle suddenly asked.
Caleb snapped back to reality and quickly replied, "It’s been taken care of. I’ve had those books sent to the Kinston Mansion."
"Good." Kyle continued his meal.
But Caleb sighed inwardly again. Who would have guessed that those books were actually Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf comic books? What on earth is Elder Kinston thinking?
When Mabel Quinn returned, she saw Kyle Kinston in the living room watching Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf animation, and a pile of related comics was spread out on the coffee table in front of him.
If it were someone else, Mabel might have described it as a remnant of childhood innocence, but for Kyle... she didn’t know how to describe it. A man who joined the army at 18, experienced family hardships, struggled in the military, and witnessed the brutalities of the marketplace—could he even have so-called childlike innocence?
Previously, he would only watch cartoons when he was feverish and muddled.
Wait! Mabel suddenly thought of a possibility and quickly rushed forward, placing her palm on Kyle’s forehead to check his temperature.
The temperature was normal, the touch was normal—everything was normal, except for those slightly puzzled phoenix-like eyes watching her.
"You’re... not having a fever..." she said awkwardly, taking her hand away.
She had thought he had a fever again.
"It seems you rather wish to see me feverish," he said lightly.
"No way, you’ve got it wrong, you’ve got it wrong..." she laughed awkwardly, repeatedly denying it. It’s just that when he had a fever, he really was more agreeable and would smile at her like a child.
He patted the empty seat on the sofa next to him, signaling her to sit down.
