CHAPTER 39: CHAPTER 39 AWKWARD

Mabel Quinn suddenly lowered her head, feeling her cheeks heat up slightly. Just thinking about having shared the most intimate moments with someone like him, and the possibility that she might be pregnant now, made her feel even more anxious and confused.

"No matter what kind of guests come in, keep your spirits up," the manager said as he unknowingly approached Mabel Quinn and Xiao Chen.

Both of them responded, and at that moment, the bodyguard had already finished checking the woman’s phone. The woman hastily ran out of the store without even buying anything.

Throughout the evening, any customers who wanted to take pictures or try to get close to Kyle Kinston were blocked by the two bodyguards. Mabel Quinn tried to avoid looking at Kyle Kinston and focused on her tasks, but always felt a gaze following her like a shadow.

Kyle Kinston remained seated until almost closing time before standing up to leave. When Mabel Quinn finished tidying up and left the cake shop, she was surprised to find Kyle Kinston standing not far from the entrance, seemingly looking up at the sky, with his entourage surrounding him.

It seemed Xiao Chen was right; Kyle Kinston was indeed waiting for her on purpose.

Feeling her gaze, he turned his head and looked at her, "Come over," he said in a light yet commanding tone that left no room for refusal.

Mabel Quinn hesitated for a moment, then walked up to Kyle Kinston.

"Do you think the moon looks beautiful?" he asked unexpectedly.

"It’s... beautiful, I suppose." She was puzzled but still glanced up at the moon in the sky. It was early in the month, so the moon was still in a semi-circular shape. There were no clouds tonight, and the moon appeared quite bright.

"When do you like the moon best?" he asked again.

"During the full moon, maybe, it feels like a reunion." She said, unconsciously recalling the Mid-Autumn Festival nights when her father was still with her, sitting on the balcony together and watching the moon.

"Full moon?" Kyle Kinston let out a soft chuckle, a laughter seemingly laced with unspeakable irony, "The thing I hate the most is the full moon."

Mabel Quinn was surprised. He... hates the full moon? Then, she suddenly remembered that his parents had passed away, and perhaps her words had reminded him of something unpleasant.

Just as Mabel Quinn was contemplating whether to apologize, suddenly her phone rang. In a fluster, she retrieved her phone from her bag, but in her haste, she inadvertently pulled out some small items as well.

Plop!

The small miscellaneous items fell to the ground. Mabel Quinn answered the call while hurriedly squatting down to pick up the scattered items.

Her coin purse, lipstick, hand cream...

"Alice, when you come back tonight, can you get some fried rice noodles for me? I’m a bit hungry," came Alice Conley’s voice from the phone.

"Alright," Mabel Quinn replied, suddenly startled, seeing a pregnancy test kit lying on the ground a step away.

Oh no, how did that fall out of the bag too?

Mabel Quinn quickly reached out, wanting to pick up the pregnancy test, but a hand reached it faster than hers and picked up the kit.
