CHAPTER 43: CHAPTER 43 MOVING AWAY FROM SCHOOL

Mabel Quinn was stunned. So, if she really was pregnant this time, Kyle Kinston would want her to abort the child too, wouldn’t he? Indeed, a man like him wouldn’t allow an illegitimate child. How ridiculous it was for her to spend half a day anxious before the test results, struggling with whether or not to have the child.

Yet inexplicably, she felt a faint sense of loss deep in her heart. She reminded herself once again that she and Kyle Kinston were people from two different worlds. Even if they intersect briefly now, one day they would become parallel lines once more.

Mabel was dropped off at the school gate by Kyle’s car. Just before getting out, Kyle said flatly, "I’ll send someone over to help you move your things tomorrow."

"There’s no need," Mabel said hurriedly. If he really sent someone to help her move, she’d probably become the talk of the entire school. "I promise, I’ll be at your mansion by tomorrow night." She was just short of raising three fingers to swear an oath.

He looked at her deeply and dropped two words, "Alright then." Mabel finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Once she returned to the dormitory, she realized she forgot to bring fried vermicelli for Alice, who cried out in hunger and insisted that Mabel treat her another day to console her wounded spirit. Mabel agreed readily.

"By the way, starting tomorrow, I won’t be coming back to the dorm to sleep at night. Morningstar is a bit far from school, so I plan to find a place nearby to stay temporarily," Mabel took the opportunity to say. After all, she needed to find a reason; she couldn’t just tell them she was moving in with Kyle Kinston.

Alice Conley and Evelyn were a bit surprised, "Renting outside is expensive, and you’re still an intern. Do you have enough money?" Typically, interns don’t earn much. Despite Morningstar’s good benefits offering some salary to interns, it wouldn’t be very high.

"It’s enough. I’m sharing... uh, co-renting with someone, so it’s not too expensive." Sometimes telling one lie leads to more lies to cover it up.

At this point, Mabel realized the mental exhaustion of lying.

The next day, Mabel stuffed some of her frequently worn clothes, shoes, and books into her suitcase.

"Mabel, aren’t you taking your bedding and linens?" Evelyn asked.

"No need, there are ones already there," she replied.

"Even if there are, they’re used by others and might be dirty. Using your own is more reassuring. If you’re worried about having too much stuff to carry, I can drive you," Evelyn offered. Her family was well-off, and since enrolling in college, she had obtained a driver’s license and bought a BMW MINI for daily commuting.

"There’s no trouble; it’s not much. I can move them myself." Mabel quickly said and then rolled up her pillow, sheets, and duvet, leaving the school as if she were fleeing.

Standing in front of Kyle Kinston’s mansion and looking at the guards at the entrance, she couldn’t help but feel a sentiment she couldn’t quite describe.

Her personal freedom seemed to have drifted further away since she met Kyle Kinston. But maybe she’d only stay here for a few months at most. Perhaps Kyle would get tired of this game and lose interest in her, and then she’d be free!

As for now, she could only take things one step at a time!

Taking a deep breath, Mabel walked towards the mansion’s door.
