CHAPTER 48: CHAPTER 48 VENTING ANGER

Kyle Kinston’s eyes flashed with a cold light as he lifted the hand that was resting on her belly. Her hands, as if they had a mind of their own, pulled his hand back, placing it back on her abdomen.

Her lips unconsciously curved into a slight smile, as if she had just caught hold of something comforting.

His phoenix eyes narrowed slightly, moving from her face to the hand she held. No woman had ever dared to hold his hand like this, as if... his entire life would be held by her.

But now, it was supposed to be him holding her. He was the one in control.

"Mabel Quinn, I will never be controlled by you, never." He murmured lowly, adamant that if the fates dictated that Kinston family members be controlled, then he would be the one to shatter this rule!

At the moment his voice dropped, he pulled his hand from her grasp.

When Mabel Quinn woke up in the morning, her stomach wasn’t hurting as much, and naturally, Kyle Kinston was no longer in her room. Thinking about how she had slept through the night, she was somewhat impressed with herself.

Early in the morning, when Mabel Quinn arrived at the Corporation, she heard her colleagues from the scriptwriting team discussing that actress Grace Yowell would be coming in today. Grace Yowell was also the female lead in the film "Sound of the Wind," which was about to start shooting.

Grace Yowell had been quite a rising star in the past two or three years. As soon as she debuted, she was cast as the leading lady by a famous director, and in all her subsequent films, she always played the lead, never a supporting role. Her co-stars were either popular young actors or well-known veteran actors, so Grace Yowell’s resources were absolutely enviable.

Of course, there were also many rumors saying that Grace Yowell undoubtedly had backing. Otherwise, with her ordinary family background that had been dug up, how could she have such resources? It’s said that an influential figure was behind her.

"I’ve heard that Grace Yowell is quite a diva, and it seems like it’s the Harris Family backing her," Lilith whispered as she leaned closer to Mabel Quinn, sharing the gossip.

Mabel Quinn was slightly taken aback. The Morningstar Films where she was working now was one of the Harris Family’s enterprises. The Harris Family held a significant position in J City.

But for her, she was more curious about whether Grace Yowell was the childhood playmate she had in the village. After all, the name was the same, and there was a slight resemblance in looks. She had been speculating when she saw Grace Yowell in movies before, but never had the chance to confirm it. Unexpectedly, today she had the chance to meet her.

"Mabel Quinn, what kind of materials have you given me? They’re completely unusable," Lyra Grant’s sudden voice snapped Mabel Quinn out of her thoughts, as a pile of documents was slammed in front of her.

Lilith immediately fell silent.

Mabel Quinn looked up at Lyra Grant and said, "I gathered the materials according to your request. Whether or not they are usable is not within my responsibilities."

"What do you mean by that? Are you implying it’s my fault?" Lyra Grant said angrily, the sight of Mabel Quinn’s face in front of her stirring more anger. She recalled the words spoken to her in the editor’s office. It was as if she had been slapped across the face. What did they mean by saying her adapted scripts lacked the original novel’s vitality? What did they mean by saying her adaptations were just imitations, lacking deeper exploration?
