CHAPTER 508: CHAPTER 526: THE WORRISOME ISSUE

Entering the front hall, Alice Conley was busy helping Mabel Quinn with incense, lighting it, and telling her which Buddhas to pay special respects to, bustling around like a busy little bee. Watching from behind, Kyle Kinston was a bit surprised, "A person like Alice Conley would make a good friend, but if you want her as a lover, you’d probably have to put in a lot of effort."

Dorian Howards said somewhat helplessly, "For this girl, how much more effort do I have to put in?" He was just short of directly cutting ties with the Howards Family to prove that he and she were absolutely not from two different worlds.

"Who made you willingly put in this effort?" Kyle Kinston said.

Dorian Howards rubbed his nose, speechless. Yes, he was willing to put in the effort, and even wanted to put in more effort to win this girl’s heart.

Thinking about how he carried this girl up the mountain earlier, she complained the whole way. In the end, they compromised, and he carried her on his back.

While he carried her, she kept mumbling about how he was too thin, how his back didn’t feel solid, and in what she thought was a subtle way, mentioned she could walk on her own, even saying his bones were so sharp they hurt her chest. Hearing this, he finally just put her down and kissed her lips, which finally silenced her.

Thinking about the hardships he faced pursuing this girl, Dorian Howards felt he perfectly fit the word "cheap." There were plenty of women eager to get into his bed, yet he ignored them all, only to become infatuated with someone who ignored him, sticking closely, shamelessly.

Remembering three years ago, back then Alice was all over him, calling him a handsome guy with drool-worthy looks. Now, those memories could only be brought out during his gloomy moments for comfort.

"By the way, I heard it was Daniel Harris who saved Mabel in the explosion. Now that Daniel knows Mabel is the one he was looking for, I’m afraid he won’t let go easily." Looking at Mabel Quinn and Alice Conley praying to the Buddha statue not far away, Dorian Howards expressed his concern.

Although Mabel being saved was a fortunate event, it might lead to more complications in the future.

"Him saving Mabel is one thing, but I won’t let Mabel go," Kyle Kinston said.

"But women tend to be softer-hearted than men, and more prone to sympathy and guilt," Dorian Howards reminded, as Mabel Quinn meant not just a loved one to Kyle Kinston, but also someone who could stop the Blood Curse’s pain.

"I won’t let something like Mabel leaving me happen; she will only stay by my side," Kyle Kinston said, a certain determination flashing in his eyes, "I will help Daniel Harris recover and erase all of Mabel’s sympathy and guilt towards him."

As his words ended, Kyle Kinston walked over to Mabel Quinn, who had just finished with the incense.

"Finished praying?" Kyle Kinston asked.

"Just in this hall," Mabel Quinn replied. "Alice said there are several more halls, so I should do some more praying."

Seeing Kyle Kinston coming over, Alice Conley said, "Mr. Kinston, you should pray too, make a wish. I checked online for guides, and many people said the Buddhas here are very responsive."

"No need, he doesn’t believe in this stuff; it’s unnecessary," Mabel Quinn said.

"We don’t usually believe in this stuff either, but it’s better to do it than not," Alice Conley said.
