Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife
Chapter 514 - 532: He Came to Pick Her Up
CHAPTER 514: CHAPTER 532: HE CAME TO PICK HER UP
"Regardless of whether your mother asked me or not, I want to persuade you to have the surgery," Mabel Quinn said. "If you have the surgery, there’s at least a 50% chance of regaining your sight. If you don’t, it’s like giving up on the opportunity yourself!"
Daniel Harris suddenly let out a mocking laugh, "Giving up on the opportunity yourself... That’s quite an apt description." Hadn’t he once given up on an opportunity himself?
Clearly, he had the chance to recognize her; clearly, when they reunited, she hadn’t fallen in love with Kyle Kinston yet. If he had seized the opportunity then, perhaps things wouldn’t be like this now.
"Since I’ve already given up on the most important opportunity, what’s the harm in giving up on another one now?" Daniel said.
Mabel was momentarily speechless, and at that moment, Daniel’s mother walked into the studio and said, "Daniel, please, just agree to have the surgery for your mother’s sake. If it doesn’t work once, then try again. I will make sure you can see again."
Daniel replied quietly, "But I don’t want to see anything anymore. Now, being able to see feels like a kind of mockery to me."
His mother began to sob quietly. Her son was still young; did he really intend to remain blind for the rest of his life?
Daniel turned his face toward Mabel, those empty yet beautiful eyes still looking at her without any focus. "Mabel Quinn, you don’t need to persuade me anymore. I’ve been blind for 16 years, and a normal person for 11 years, and in the end, I found out that I’m only suited to being blind."
After he finished speaking, he embraced the painting in his arms and fumbled his way out of the studio. Seeing this, the butler waiting at the door quickly went over to assist him.
His mother choked back sobs, tears streaming down her face.
Mabel approached and handed a tissue to his mother. "Auntie, please don’t be upset. I’ll come back next time and try to persuade him again. Maybe one day he’ll listen and be willing to have the surgery."
His mother finally stopped crying and said, "That’s all we can hope for now."
As they were talking, a servant suddenly came over and said, "There’s a Mr. Kinston outside. He says he’s here to pick up Miss Quinn."
Mabel was startled and quickly said, "It should be Kyle here to pick me up."
His mother instructed the servant, "Please invite Mr. Kinston in."
The servant hurried away, and after wiping her tears away, Daniel’s mother resumed her usual composure as the household mistress, aside from slightly red eyes.
Seeing that his mother had calmed down, Mabel said, "I’ll head back for today then."
"Alright, I’ll have a servant see you out," his mother replied.
Mabel followed the servant out and, as they passed through the garden, she saw Kyle Kinston standing on the pebble path beside the lawn, his gaze fixed intently on the painting drying on the lawn, seemingly lost in thought. From her angle, she could see his profile, his cold and lonely face appearing as if it held a hint of contempt.
"Kyle," Mabel called out.
Kyle seemed to snap out of his trance, turning his head to look at Mabel. In an instant, that contempt vanished without a trace.
Mabel blinked, wondering if she had just imagined it.
"Why are you here?" she ran up to him and asked.
"I got off work and noticed your phone’s location was still here at the Harris estate, so I came to pick you up," Kyle replied. "Can we leave now?"
