Mabel Quinn and Kyle Kinston’s wedding photos were taken with an effort to be low-key, but some passersby who saw them shooting outdoor scenes posted it online. This led to the media speculating whether the two were about to get married, and many suspected a shotgun wedding. After all, Kyle and Mabel hadn’t known each other for long, not even a year. Compared to those Cinderellas eager to marry into wealthy families but couldn’t manage even after several years of romance, Mabel’s path into the upper class seemed a bit too smooth.

There were even online posts claiming to have seen Kyle accompany Mabel to an OB-GYN checkup. Some people compared Mabel’s past and recent photos, claiming she had gained weight. Others argued that if Mabel were not pregnant, there was no need for Kyle to rush into marrying her. After all, Mabel was only 22, and Kyle was just 30; they could easily date for a few more years before considering marriage.

The online speculations were so outrageous that even Alice Conley looked at her friend with suspicion for a long time. "You wouldn’t really be pregnant, would you?"

Mabel was both amused and annoyed. She actually wished she were, but truthfully, she wasn’t.

Moreover, even if she wanted a child with Kyle, it might not happen... As she thought of this, Mabel’s gaze dimmed for a moment. Then, she quietly reassured herself that there was nothing worth caring about. Even if they adopted a child in the future, it would be the same. Blood relations weren’t absolutely important.

"Mabel, what’s wrong?" Alice’s voice sounded in her ear.

"Huh?" She snapped back to reality.

"You looked upset just now. Did I say something wrong? If I did, please don’t take it to heart." Alice said apologetically.

"It’s nothing, you’re overthinking." Mabel smiled. "I just feel that the things online really sound as if the fake has become real."

"That’s true," Alice replied.

In the middle of their conversation, a receptionist came over and said, "Mabel, there’s a woman outside claiming to be your mom and wants to see you."

Mabel froze, and Alice quickly pulled her friend aside and said, "How about I go outside and find an excuse to dismiss your mom?" Alice was well aware of her friend’s relationship with her mother, still recalling vividly the scene when Evelina caused a commotion at the school back then.

Mabel shook her head and replied, "No need, I’ll go see her. Even if I find an excuse to avoid her today, she’ll just come back tomorrow."

As for why her mother came, Mabel had an idea—it was likely to ask for money, as if money was all that remained in their mother-daughter relationship.

Mabel walked to the reception area and saw her mother impatiently sitting in a chair. As soon as Evelina saw her, she immediately stood up and mockingly said, "Aren’t you something? I have to wait at the door just to see my daughter."

"What do you want from me?" Mabel asked.

"You’re my daughter and you’re getting married, and I had to find out through the news. Do you think that’s right?" Evelina’s voice was particularly loud, as if wishing for everyone to hear.

Clearly, Evelina wanted to attract attention.

Sure enough, some colleagues in the Studio stopped in their tracks and started to glance over.
