Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife
Chapter 564 - 585 You Little Swindler
CHAPTER 564: CHAPTER 585 YOU LITTLE SWINDLER
"Then let’s get married, wouldn’t that be great? Your parents would be happy instead of shocked," Dorian Howards said.
Alice Conley rolled her eyes, "Stop changing the subject, you know I can’t marry you."
"Why not?" he asked in return.
Alice Conley pressed her lips together and only after a while did she say, "Because I don’t love you."
The smile on his lips froze, his dark eyes steadily gazing at her, and after a long moment, he suddenly smiled again, flicking her forehead lightly with his fingers, "You little liar, you almost had me there."
"I wasn’t lying to you, I really..."
"Alice!" he abruptly interrupted her, a smile still on his lips but his eyes were solemn, "Whatever you are going to say next, whether true or false, it’s best you don’t say it."
Alice Conley’s heart skipped a beat, this version of Dorian Howards felt unfamiliar to her, even a bit frightening.
For a while, the room was silent, and after some time, Dorian Howards raised his hand, gently patting Alice Conley’s head, "Good, now that’s being good. I know you’ve been concerned about the bombing case these past few days. I came to see you today, partly to let you know that if you want to attend the trial, I can take you there."
"You can take me to the trial?" her attention was instantly diverted.
"Although the trial is not open to the public, if you really want to get in, it’s not impossible," in other words, it depends on the means and connections.
And Dorian Howards is undoubtedly the person with the means and connections.
"Alright, then on the day of the trial, I’ll go with you," Alice Conley said, finally able to see how those bastards would fare. If not for the trial’s rules, she would really want to bring some rotten eggs and vegetables to throw at them!
It wasn’t until Dorian Howards left that Alice Conley suddenly realized she had actually been intimidated by him earlier, so much so that she didn’t complete the sentence "I really don’t love you" the second time.
This side of Dorian Howards, it was the first time she had seen it; it was terrifying enough to feel suffocating. It was as if her words were taboo to him, something not to be spoken, because once uttered, no one could tell what the consequences would be.
But how could she be with him? Even if they could be happy for a while, they probably couldn’t be happy forever.
Alice Conley let out a low sigh, collapsed onto the bed, burying her face deep into the covers like an ostrich, wanting to temporarily forget all her troubles.

In the evening, at the Kinston residence, Mabel Quinn was browsing the novel that Kyle Kinston had handed out at the last meeting. She had to admit, the novel was quite ordinary, without any particularly remarkable or memorable parts. It also wasn’t very suitable for adaptation into film, and if it were to be adapted, there would likely be numerous changes needed.
"Is that novel any good?" Kyle Kinston’s voice suddenly broke the silence, "You’ve been reading it for days."
"It’s average, but since it’s work, I have to read it carefully," Mabel Quinn replied. "The novel’s going to be adapted into a TV series, the Studio took on the screenplay job, and I might write a few episodes of the series in the future." Typically, the next step would involve a head writer overseeing the entire story process, while the team would have writers each assigned to a few episodes. Once completed, the head writer would manage the overall editing and revisions.
