However, she wore only earrings and no other jewelry.
"Why aren’t you wearing the engagement ring?" Kyle Kinston held Mabel Quinn’s hand as he spoke; her fingers were bare, with nothing on them.
"Isn’t that ring for the wedding? We’re not married yet," Mabel Quinn replied with a smile. "Once we’re married, no matter what event we attend, I’ll wear it!"
"Alright then, after we’re married," he said, then took her hand and helped her into the car.
This year’s New Year’s gala, hosted by the government, was held at the largest opera house in J City. Many concerts and musicals have taken place here, but it was Mabel Quinn’s first time visiting. Kyle Kinston’s seat was in the VIP box on the second floor, occupied by prominent business figures and some of their families, and naturally, those seated near Kyle Kinston were mainly business people who often collaborated with Kinston Group.
However, whether it was these people or their families, they frequently glanced at Mabel Quinn during their conversations.
Finally, one person couldn’t help but ask, "Mr. Kinston, are you really about to get married to this young lady?"
"Yes, she has accepted my proposal, and we’ll be marrying soon," Kyle Kinston answered generously. He had brought Mabel Quinn today to make everything clear.
Naturally, the surrounding people offered their congratulations.
And as Mabel Quinn was about to sit down, Kyle Kinston proactively pulled out her chair. Because the room was heated and he was concerned she might be too warm, he personally helped remove the fur scarf from her neck.
This series of tender actions left the onlookers flabbergasted. Typically, Mr. Kinston was known for his cold demeanor, giving no heed to women trying to approach him, but who knew that in front of another woman, he could be so lovingly gentle.
Meanwhile, on the first floor, Evelyn, dressed in a performance outfit, looked up at Kyle Kinston and Mabel Quinn on the second floor, her eyes filled with jealousy.
Because the news of Mr. Kinston’s engagement had spread, she was close to becoming the laughingstock of the ballet troupe.
Once, she had pretended to accidentally fall into Mr. Kinston’s arms. Not only was she not immediately pushed away, but she even received a hug, which made her smug, leading her to think that Mr. Kinston was interested in her.
Even after Francine Howards came to J City, who was Mr. Kinston’s childhood friend, she specifically inquired at the Hospital and found out that Mr. Kinston had not been to see that doctor. Naturally, she wasn’t worried.
Though there were occasional rumors of Mr. Kinston having a girlfriend, which she had even seen, she thought it was just a temporary infatuation on Mr. Kinston’s part. She believed that if given a chance, she could definitely make Mr. Kinston interested in her.
Just as she was thinking about it, Evelyn’s eyes caught sight of Francine Howards passing by, and she immediately had an idea. Smiling, she blocked Francine Howards’ path, "Miss Howards, look, Mr. Kinston is over there on the second floor, and it seems he’s brought a friend, haven’t you and Mr. Kinston been old friends from Falling City? Aren’t you going to say hello?" Previously, she had found an excuse to introduce herself to Francine Howards, so she was able to strike up a conversation now.
Francine Howards raised her eyebrows, casually glanced at the second floor, and then said, "There’s no rush, I can greet him later."
