Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife
Chapter 82: Coming to the Fore
CHAPTER 82: CHAPTER 82: COMING TO THE FORE
Mabel Quinn never thought such an event had happened—a living person and a dead one spent a day and a night in the mourning hall. What exactly transpired might already be impossible to know, but inexplicably, she had a feeling that Easton Kinston must have loved Kyle Kinston’s mother very much.
After the three finished eating, Mabel Quinn checked the time and saw it was almost six o’clock. If she took the bus back to the Kinston residence, it would be just about the right time to return there.
Blake Winchester insisted on paying the bill, and Mabel Quinn did not argue.
When the three of them walked out of the steakhouse, they happened to see Soren walking over with several people toward the steakhouse. Soren paused slightly at the sight of Mabel Quinn, then greeted those beside him, "You guys go in first. I have something to do; I’ll join you in a moment."
The others nodded and went in first.
Then Soren walked directly up to Mabel Quinn. "I have a few words to say to you." As he spoke, he glanced at Katie and Blake Winchester beside her, clearly not wanting to speak in front of them.
"I don’t think there’s much to say between us," Mabel Quinn replied.
Soren frowned. "I don’t want to argue with you here. If I hadn’t run into you today, I would’ve gone to Morningstar or your home looking for you in a few days."
Now it was Mabel Quinn’s turn to frown. She did not want Soren to really rush to Morningstar or her home, so she let Katie and Blake Winchester leave first. Then she turned to Soren and said, "Whatever you want to talk about, make it quick. I have something else to do soon."
Soren pursed his lips, looking at Mabel Quinn. They had grown up together as children, almost like childhood sweethearts. When Mabel’s father was alive, the two families interacted quite frequently. He wasn’t unaware of her affection for him, but what he wanted in a partner was not a woman who couldn’t offer him any support.
Now, after graduating, he would be entering the city’s publicity department, and Lyra Grant’s father was a senior executive. With her father’s help, his future road would naturally be smoother. His future wouldn’t just be confined to a publicity department either. Besides, in terms of looks, talent, and family background, Lyra Grant satisfied him.
These days, Lyra had been telling him how much grief she was getting from Mabel at work, so he decided to take some time to talk to Mabel about it. However, he didn’t expect to run into her today.
At this moment, Soren said coldly, "There’s no need for you to target Lyra like this. She didn’t do anything to you back when you slandered her. Don’t push it too far."
Mabel Quinn chuckled, "I don’t know what Lyra Grant told you, but I’m curious—do you always just listen to one side and then make a conclusion? It was like that back then, and it’s the same now."
Soren frowned, a trace of displeasure crossing his eyes. "Back then, no one falsely accused you, and now Lyra wouldn’t falsely accuse you for no reason!"
Mabel Quinn really wanted to laugh. At her mother’s and brother’s celebration banquet and at the restaurant where Katie asked her to help with her boyfriend’s meal, Soren had been right by Lyra Grant’s side. With Lyra targeting her like that, was Soren blind?
Perhaps he never wanted to see the truth and only believed what he wanted to believe.
