Enchantment Of The Night
Chapter 63: The Medallion’s Location
CHAPTER 63: THE MEDALLION’S LOCATION
Blake knew he was close. He was inching closer and closer to where the medallion was hidden, but pinpointing the exact location was the problem.
He kept taking corners around the maze, his senses at their fullest. Whenever he detects a phantom coming his way, he would quickly put distance between himself and them. One of the phantoms had passed through him a few hours ago, rendering him weak and unable to move for a very long time.
Another creepy scream came from behind him. Somewhere around where he had almost run into the human girl...and the scream grew so loud he had to shut his ears and pull back on his alert senses or his eardrum would burst.
His face was constricted with pain as he fell to his knees, palms over his ears to shut out the devastating cry that was making him tremble. His whole had vibrated, and he groaned.
.
.
Aaliyah had been buried under. There was a slight tremble in the heap of the broken mirrors, right before she had burst out from underneath.
There were sharp broken mirrors piercing every part of her body, except her head and neck which she had protected in the last second. She was panting, every corner of her rolling with blood.
Aaliyah pulled out and moved away from the heap of mirrors, then stared back at it. With incredible endurance and pain, she had steeled herself and pulled out every piece of mirror that had pierced her, throwing them away.
The reason she hadn’t left the heap of mirrors was simple. During that devastating scream from the mirror baby, Aaliyah had heard something vibrating underneath where she stood. Although the scream did make the earth tremble, she was very sure this one was different.
Quickly, she began digging into the earth with her bare hands. She cleared the broken mirrors, gaining more cuts and bruises but that was the last of her worries. She dug several holes, trying to remember exactly where she had heard that specific vibration from.
On digging her tenth hole, she saw something yellow and shiny hidden inside the sand. She grabbed the chain and yanked everything out... revealing the Golden Medallion.
It was more Golden than anything she’s ever seen. So golden it was shimmering through the darkness and reflecting back through the mirrors.
The Golden Glow was going to blind her.
Aaliyah stuffed it into her pants quickly, searching around to confirm that no one had seen her find the medallion. She would keep pretending to keep searching for it while finding a way to exit this maze.
But that plan was cut short as the medallion wouldn’t stop glowing. The Glow was getting more and more denser, and there was no way to stop it as it had cast a large Golden Glow around her location, revealing her location to everything presently inside the Maze.
Blake, Marco, and the Silver witch all turned their heads at the place that potentially had the Medallion, and they all moved in that direction.
Aaliyah on the other hand, knew it was time to run. She put her senses on full alert and could feel many presences heading her way. And there was no escape from any of them because they were all coming from opposite directions from her.
No matter where she ran, the glow would give her away and she must cross paths with one of them.
Aaliyah stopped for a brief second, deeply thinking of how to evade them all. A crazy idea popped into her head, and she contemplated it for a second before giving it a shot.
She picked up a few large pieces of the broken mirror on both hands. Then, she did the same around her feet by tearing a large part of her shirt and tying it with the glass around her legs.
Quickly, she began climbing the glass wall like a rock climber, using the sharp glasses in her hand to dig through the glass wall, propelling her higher and higher.
Aaliyah had gone high end luckily when Blake showed up. She looked down and found him staring up at her with an insane look of shock in his eyes, trying to reason how a normal person would have conjured such a crazy idea...and it had actually worked.
"You’ll have to come down eventually," He Yelled at her, just as Marco and the witch also showed up, every one of them gazing at each other in urgency and alertness.
"Who knows? Maybe the exit is up here. This place is full of infinite possibilities," She yelled back at him.
But the four of them had taken her words seriously. It’s been hours if not almost a day, and there’s been no sign of the exit out of the maze. They had explored the grounds thoroughly, but up there was still a mystery.
In about a minute, everyone had copied Aaliyah. The only person who didn’t employ the same method as Aaliyah to climb the wall was the witch, whose spell was enough to make her walk on a wall...and even run.
The Witch left Blake and Marco behind, targeting Aaliyah to snatch the medallion from her.
But Aaliyah had anticipated something like this happening. And to defend herself, she left a glass stuck inside the wall with one hand around it to keep her steady, then used the other hand to fish out some glasses she had shoved inside her pocket and started to haul them at the incoming with her strength.
Since the glasses were small and Aaliyah’s strength was abnormal, they came to the witch flying at the speed of light and struck her on both legs.
The witch seethed in pain, gritting her teeth as she reached over and pulled out the broken glasses from her skin. Aaliyah threw more at her, and some at the Vampire boys’ direction, leaving them evading and almost losing balance and falling back to the ground.
But the witch was sticking closing the distance between them and fast. Aaliyah needed to do something big, and she needed to do it fast.
While keeping an eye out for the witch, she continued to climb faster. Her arms and legs had gotten used to the climbing and were now moving perfectly in sync.
One eye watched the boys and the witch.
Just as the witch stretched her arm to grab Aaliyah’s leg, Aaliyah reversed the motion of her leg that should have been climbing and had them moving backward instead, and the heel of Aaliyah’s shoe struck the witch hard on the chin, kicking the witch completely off the wall.
