CHAPTER 66: THE WINNER

Everyone was surprised to see the four contestants had returned alive. It was the first time since the beginning of the phantom games this was happening, and the shock on everyone’s face was so loud.

Yuan had stood up from her seat, running down to meet Aaliyah who looked beaten up and battered, breathing fervently on the ground with Blake right next to her. Quickly, Yuan left her seat and moved to see if Aaliyah was alright, but the security witches keeping the spectators from stepping into the stadium center refused to let her pass no matter how much she complained and argued, threatening to throw her out if she didn’t return to her seat.

Little pieces of glass from the storm had pierced Aaliyah’s back and leg, and it hurt harder than the spikes. Her ear was continuously ringing, and she could not hear anything for a long while.

When she raised her head, the crowd looked very excited and were cheering. Her head was pounding and she felt someone touch her shoulder. Her subconscious instinct kicked in, thinking she was still in the games and she grabbed the person’s hand and tried to flip them over... but it was like carrying a Rock.

What the hell?

"Get up," The deepest and huskiest voice her ears had ever gotten the privilege of hearing pronounced to her, and for a moment, all the pain she was feeling vanished into thin air. The voice had chills running up and down her spine, and her head went blank. It’s like her ringing ears had healed from his voice.

She could only follow the person’s lead as he helped her to her feet, standing behind her.

Was it also his presence that was this massive?! She felt like screaming or putting distance between them.

This feeling was crazy. It would be understandable if there were like a million Vampires behind her, but it was just one man.

Her skin has never crawled this hard before. Maybe if she looked down she would actually find a spider climbing her skin.

It was then Aaliyah noticed something she hadn’t before. The witch girl was standing a few feet away from her, and one of the teachers from Olympia was standing behind her the same way someone was standing behind Aaliyah.

A few feet from the witch was the Skinny Vampire boy lying on the ground, with a few teachers who had surrounded and were attending to him. It looked like a big chunk of glass had hit and gone through his chest, but he was still holding onto life.

Without warning, A sharp pain stung her back and she cried out. The teacher behind her had pulled out one of the glasses that was bleeding her. It’s like she didn’t even know how much blood she was losing just standing there.

"Ouch!" She exclaimed, a little upset. How badly she wanted to turn around and give him a piece of her mind, but she was afraid his aura would consume her if she did.

"Stand still. This would be quick," He said again, this time in a whisper, "Or you’ll pass out very soon,"

Every part of her stung at the same time, as the teacher had quickly pulled out every piece of glass in less than two seconds. But the pain she braced herself for did not come as much as she thought it would.

What did he do?

Next, Aaliyah looked around till she saw Blake standing next to the Chancellor. The Chancellor was giving him a handshake, and there was the Golden Medallion around Blake’s neck.

In panic, Aaliyah searched her pockets but the Medallion was gone. Holy hell...

Blake had taken it away from her. Was that the reason he had come back to help her into the portal? He had taken advantage of her distress and stolen the medallion from her like he had wanted to all along.

No wonder the crowd was cheering so loudly. Her head pounded even harder, and she boiled with anger.

How could she let this happen? The one time she had let her guard down after she had put in so much work and all the Glory goes to Blake Fang.

How could he be so heartless?!

Every fiber of her being was vibrating with fury. Her breaths were sharp and fast, desperately trying to calm her temperamental self that had been awoken by Laura and Blake.

They were both people she couldn’t stand and had tainted her soul by their actions.

Aaliyah wanted to yell at everyone that she was supposed to have won this, and Blake had only taken the medallion from her at the last second. But the phantom game had no rules.

The winner was whoever presented the Medallion, and Blake had done just that.

Blake smiled and boasted to the crowd with the Gold around his neck, and they cheered even louder. Many girls in the crowd were fantasizing about the idiot and wouldn’t stop screaming his name to get his attention.

When he turned around and his eyes found hers, her eyes were glowing from her heightened emotions and he got chills from her, quickly looking away before she swallowed him with those beautifully murderous eyes of hers.

"I’m leaving," Aaliyah said to the person behind her and started to walk away without a reply.

Even though Blake had won fair and square, it still hurt a lot and she didn’t want to ruin the evening by allowing her emotions to get the best of her and choke Blake to death!

She dashed into the crowd and ran into Yuan halfway.

"Are you okay? You look like you’re ready to breathe fire. Come, let me help you,"

Yuan wrapped Aaliyah’s arm around her neck, and the two of them stalked out of the stadium with a few curious eyes following them. The whole crowd was chanting Blake’s name and a few of them had evaded the security Witches and had carried Blake on their shoulders.

Laura was the proudest female in the stadium.

But the fact that all four contestants had survived proved something. And the Dark gazes that followed Aaliyah as she walked out of the place with her friend did not go unnoticed by them.

"Change of plans," Theodore said to himself in a low whisper.
