CHAPTER 747: SPIRE ASCENSION (XVII)

--

"Great Law of Sword and Fire, earned by the same person. Damn, and here I am, about thousands of years older than him with my barely recognizable Great Law of Water. I’m just trash compared to him."

"Still not over that?"

"Nope. I can’t. I have to see him strut around with that, after all."

"Well, to be fair, everybody would look like trash next to him."

"Actually, it shouldn’t be a big deal. Having gained the recognition of two great laws is indeed rare, but not for geniuses like him. It just became a big deal because he’s already so strong with just one."

"Very true. He scaled that deadly spire so far with nothing but his sword and sword laws. Everybody assumed that that’s all he had, and for the most part, it was enough. But he was pushed when he was swarmed with billions of bugs, so he had to reveal his achievements in fire laws, too."

"I think the real kicker here is that he uses Fire Laws just as well as he does Sword Laws. He could even combine the might of two great laws without breaking a sweat."

"Yes, that’s the really huge thing. Everyone knows by now just how good he was with the sword, and everybody thought that he got to this stage by being absolutely devoted to it. Yet here he comes, pulling out fire out of his ass, using it as well as the majority of fire users I’ve seen in my entire life."

"A thousand years shouldn’t be enough to completely explore the profundities of those laws, yet here he is, displaying that it could be achieved. That’s the most ridiculous part."

The crowd ceaselessly discussed Cedric’s achievements during the downtime.

By now, as Cedric rested before going up to the 50th floor, the crowd had already caught up with what happened. Everyone’s abuzz right now because of the sudden reveal of Cedric’s golden flames.

Most are still in disbelief. A large majority of them think that it’s unfair for somebody to be this blessed.

It’s widely known that chasing after laws was stupid. The more you chase after it, the farther it flees from your grasp. People could only stay true to themselves and hope that the laws will recognize them and allow them to get a glimpse of their true profundities.

Understanding the very building blocks of the universe is the key to further evolution. The pursuit of life evolution is to become the perfect being, to stand as equals to the heaven and the earth, and to be an eternal existence.

Those who came from the ancient sects and organizations had it better since they had ways to increase their chances of being recognized by the laws of the primitive universe. That’s why they’re all the elites of the elites.

But how about those who aren’t even qualified to join them? What does that make them?

It sounds unfair, but the Primitive Universe has never been fair to anyone, even to those it showed bias to. In a sense, that’s how it shows fairness to everybody.

The Primitive Universe won’t help anybody become an existence equal to itself, but it won’t stop them from trying either. Every opportunity, every luck, every resource, and everything that could be of help to achieve their goals was something that must be fought for.

That’s why it’s a little hard for them to believe that Dawnbringer was this blessed.

Just like that one person earlier said, it’s not really rare to see a participant of this tournament wielding the power of two great laws. In fact, there is another person in this very tournament right now who could do the same.

And if it’s not just limited to these young geniuses, if we also add those who have lived for far too long and had enough time to sit down and ponder, his feat becomes even more ordinary.

The majority of the Universe Masters have two or more great laws they can rely on in combat. There were even some who had more than five.

What confuses them the most is how Dawnbringer had the time and energy to explore and utilize both the laws of fire and sword to this extent when he’s not even a thousand years old. This is the most difficult part for them to comprehend.

Like that one guy said, a thousand years shouldn’t be enough to master two great laws to the level that Cedric achieved. In fact, to most people, a thousand years was barely enough to take a single law to the Great Law level. And that’s even with them living in seclusion for most of their lives and/or under a time enchantment.

Even the other participant of this current tournament who could use the two laws at the same time like Cedric barely even scratches the surface. Anyone could tell at a glance that he just got lucky and that he’s better off choosing one to focus on for now.

But Cedric was just different. He swam at the depths of those two incredibly profound laws and stayed there like he could breathe underwater.

And the fact that he could effortlessly merge both laws together was even more ridiculous because it shows that his understanding of both laws has already surpassed at least 99% of the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm’s total population.

Hell, even some Universe Masters were inferior to him in this aspect.

And he’s barely a thousand years old! How? Was he the illegitimate son of the Primitive Universe’s supreme will?

The humans discussed fervently while other races wrote Dawnbringer’s name in solemnity. Races like ’The Horde’ even already declared him as their mortal enemy, one that must be killed as soon as possible.

And yet, all discussions stopped once they saw that he was on the move again.

It only took him three days of rest before he completely recovered and felt ready enough to advance.

And so, his climb resumes, and everyone’s eyes are on him again.

**

Just like in the previous stages, after clearing the 49th floor, the platform of cubes rose up another level once more.

The scenery around him became even more friendly, becoming better and more suitable for life to grow. He could even see patches of grass and a few dried-up trees around him. It wasn’t much, but things were definitely getting better.

However, this wasn’t really his concern.

He looked at the portal leading to the 50th floor and noticed that it expanded a bit once again, just like the previous times.

Cedric didn’t take too long admiring it before entering to see what he’d discover on the other side.

Upon stepping out of the portal, he noticed that he was standing in the vacuum of space. He’s surrounded by the vast and seemingly endless blanket of stars, planets, and asteroids.

His eyes narrowed as he sensed the presence of his enemies. Yes, enemies. He’s not just facing a single one this time, unlike the previous times, except for the horde floors. He’s facing multiple ones this time.

The enemy didn’t hide from him. They showed themselves as soon as he sensed them. And to Cedric’s surprise, he saw two familiar creatures.

"A Fierce Beast and a Demon?"

That’s right. Cedric was currently facing the enemies he encountered on the previous floors. Only this time, they’re stronger.

Both of these creatures were equivalent to mid-stage Immortal Emperors, two minor realms above his own life evolution level, and of no ordinary foundations too.

The two creatures didn’t give him much time to think. They attacked as soon as they met, bearing no regard to manners or their personal safety.

Much to the audience’s dismay though, Cedric only stuck to his sword laws this time. An understandable choice, yet boring for their viewing pleasure.

They get it, really. Although these two were strong, they were enough to overwhelm Cedric like the Horde could. There was no need to be excessive here, so his sword laws were enough to deal with them.

That said, it could’ve been better if he showed more of his prowess with fire laws. He’s showing more flair that way, all puns intended.

And so, Cedric continued his ascent.

After clearing the 50th floor, he immediately went to the 51st, where he faced a Fierce Beast, a Demon, and a Mechanoid working together.

And while it was a bit funny to see a demon mounting a mechanoid who turned into a stationary turret with both of them being carried on the back of a demon, Cedric was starting to see the trend here.

His guesses were confirmed when, upon arriving at the 52nd floor, he was met with a Fierce Beast, a Demon, a Mechanoid, and a True Dragon.

From the 50th to the 59th floor, Cedric learned that the spire will have him fight the enemies he encountered so far. On the next floor, he should be meeting the same lineupbut with the addition of The Horde.

And for the floors afterwards, he will face multiple versions of them. Although it was less creative, the variety of enemies he could face makes this rather fun.
