Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking
Chapter 759: Rising Sun Sector Domain
CHAPTER 759: RISING SUN SECTOR DOMAIN
--
Cedric just wanted a place for him and his people in the Primitive Universe.
He’s expecting maybe a planet or two, maybe a solar system, or, if they’re really being generous, a cosmic realm. He just wanted to get them out of the Forbidden Zone and slowly introduce them to the Primitive Universe. Once he’s able to do that, his main concern will be gone, and he could do whatever he wants.
Cedric wasn’t expecting the council to give him an entire sector domain to govern, though. In his opinion, it was excessive, but beyond that, it’s also a heavy responsibility.
A sector domain is composed of about two to five cosmic realms under a single management. It’s usually ruled and controlled by a sector lord, who is also sometimes referred to as the domain lord.
The Rising Sun Domain is located at the far east of the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm. It’s one of the more unpopulated domains for no real apparent reasons.
Cedric wasn’t really expecting to be promoted as a Sector Lord this easily. The idea once crossed his mind in the past, but given how the Primitive Universe was an unknown territory for him, he didn’t put much hope into it. But now he’s here.
But as much as this was a surprise, this was also a test for him.
The Rising Sun Domain consists of five relatively small cosmic realms; it’s a lot to manage for a single person. This will not only test Cedric’s ability to govern but also his skills and determination to carve a place for him and his people out here.
Cedric’s combat skills no longer need to be tested. The entirety of the chaos realm saw just how good he was at this. He’s already hailed as the strongest prodigy of this era; nobody could even come close.
What the Human Council wants to confirm is his loyalty to the race.
The grace period of 100,000 years of not having to pay tribute to the council might sound generous, but don’t forget that Cedric was expected to manage billions, if not trillions, of lives.
They won’t be looking at his progress alone but at the whole population he manages. The council won’t interfere with how he ruled, but they will be expecting results, and he only has 100,000 years to prepare himself before he’s expected to present his contributions for the race.
This was the price of this sector domain, the rent, if you will.
Still, even for Cedric, 100,000 years is a long time. So many things can happen within that time frame. He’s very aware that the council was being very generous to him with this timeframe.
This was their show of good faith to him and an investment as well. They know his potential, they know that he’s here to remain, and they know that he’d be a valuable ally in the future, especially against enemy races; therefore, they want to leave a good impression on him. They didn’t want to risk alienating him from the race by imposing strict rules upon him in the name of governance.
Call it biased or not, it doesn’t matter. It was worth it since it’s for Dawnbringer.
Cedric was aware of all of this, and still, he didn’t hesitate to take it. He’s not a stranger to transactions. Hell, he got more than he bargained for, in a really good way; how can anybody expect him to refuse?
**
Currently, Cedric was on the way to his territory riding a new ship provided by the Human Council, of course.
He had parted ways with Sir Thomas and Philip. The former stayed behind at the council since that’s his workplace; the latter had to return to his own place as well since he’s got a lot of work to do. Of course, they promised they’d contact him every now and then to catch up.
As for Quinella and Wilfred, of course they accompanied him. They’re his personal bodyguards after all. At this point, they will go wherever he goes. His safety was their priority, even at the cost of their own lives.
But it wasn’t just them. On this ship was an army under the direct rule of the Human Council. They are the guardians that will be stationed on the outskirts of the Rising Sun Domain from now on, and this post will last for about 100,000 years, maybe even more depending on the situation.
Despite that though, none of them felt any hesitation. They readily boarded the ship and were prepared to face the new Chapter of their lives.
While on the ship, Cedric studied the map of the Rising Sun Domain.
He gazed at it while thinking deeply about how to optimize its development. He’s got so many ideas in his mind that he’s feeling a bit overwhelmed, though.
Obviously, Cedric never managed such a large area on his own. Even back at the Primeval Scarlet Dust Realm, he’s only ever managed a small corner, and that’s humanity’s corner of the realm. Even then, he passed the responsibility to his son, Godwyn, later on.
A large territory like this, however, was definitely beyond his son’s capabilities; even with all three of them combined, they’d be stretched thin for this. Furthermore, it was Cedric who had been given the title of the Sector Lord, not his children; therefore, it has to be him.
Cedric can’t back down from this, though. He already received the title, after all.
To gain more reference, Cedric did some research.
He gathered the maps to other sector domains. He didn’t need the extremely detailed ones; just the general map was enough. What he wanted was some inspiration to start with.
Obviously, things are different at the Primitive Universe. He can’t use the same governing tactics he used back home here; there are just too many things to consider.
This will take some time, though, but that’s fine; he’s got enough.
After a week of travelling, and fortunately without any accidents, the ship arrived at the Rising Sun Domain.
"This will be our new home, huh?" Cedric muttered to himself as he stepped out of the ship and freely expanded his sensory field.
His sensory field barely covered one of the cosmic realms in the domain, but even so, Cedric was just fine with that. He’s got all the time in the world to comb every square inch of this place. He’s not in a hurry.
But before that, Cedric turned to the army, who were standing in a neat formation behind him. The one leading them was General Ivan Skylark, a Heavenly Venerate with a strong military background and achievements.
"I’ll leave the security of this domain to you, General." He spoke to the stoic-looking man.
He got a salute in return and a strong reply of "We will do our best to relieve you of your worries, Lord Dawnbringer."
"I know you will. Please, go ahead and do what you must. Quinella, Wilfred, you two come with me. I’d like to personally see what I’m working with here."
His two bodyguards nodded and stuck close to him. They took a smaller ship, one that was much quicker than the larger ones, to use and went on their way immediately, all while General Skylark and his men began unloading their equipment to start their work.
All five cosmic realms within the Rising Sun Domain were unnamed, so it will be up to Cedric to name them, but that’s a decision for the future.
The Rising Sun Sector Domain was called as such because there were a lot of naturally born suns in here. All of these suns caused the temperature within the sector domain to be on the higher side; it’s much brighter too because of the light.
For Cedric, this was perfect, of course. It’s thematic to his alias as well.
The more he saw his new territory, the more pleased he became. He doesn’t understand why this place was unpopular and less populated. It’s just hotter and brighter compared to other places, and that’s not even a bad thing necessarily. Cedric had seen harsher environments in other sector domains, yet somehow, those places had more people.
It doesn’t matter, though; this works for him.
As for what few people there were over here, they won’t pose a problem to him. They’ve already been informed that this place is now under the governance of a new sector lord. They are given a choice of whether to stay or leave.
If they choose to stay, they will be treated as citizens and will be expected to behave as such. So long as they obey the new Sector Lord’s rule, they will be allowed to stay and might even receive benefits further down the line. If they’re not comfortable with the idea of serving a new lord, they can leave and go somewhere else.
Nobody here was strong enough to oppose Cedric’s rule. And if someone dares, the army he brought with him will swiftly deal with them. It might sound cruel, but that’s just the way it is.
Strength is the loudest voice in the Primitive Universe. Without strength, one doesn’t have a voice.
