Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking
Chapter 761: Sector Domain Refinement
CHAPTER 761: SECTOR DOMAIN REFINEMENT
--
Cedric remained mostly unaware of the buzz about him online. Even if he knew, he probably wouldn’t care too much.
Right now, he’s busy roaming his new territory with his bodyguards. .
This activity wasn’t just for pure sightseeing; Cedric isn’t one to do such meaningless tasks. He’s doing this because he was also pruning his territory.
The Rising Sun Sector Domain is nowhere near perfect; the abundance of suns causing the temperature around here to be hotter than other sector domains was one such flaw. That’s why only a few tribes decided to migrate here.
And it wasn’t just this too.
There were areas within the sector that have mutated beyond saving. They only serve to pollute the otherwise pleasant appearance of the domain. They stuck out like a sore thumb and were only causing damage to the realm.
As the new Sector Lord of this place, it was TJ’s duty to eliminate these problematic places. In a sense, he’s pruning his garden by doing this, using his golden cleansing fire, of course.
This was a large and thankless task; it had him roaming the entirety of his territory so that he wouldn’t miss any, but it had to be done. It’s better to take care of these now rather than later; it will just cause distress and complaints from his future citizens.
As his dutiful guards, Quinella and Wilfred offered to do this in his stead. But Cedric refused, saying that this was his responsibility, not theirs.
This activity took him another six months to finish, making it an entire year since he arrived here. He’s got 99,999 years left to develop the Rising Sun Domain so that it could be ready to submit tribute to the council.
Pruning his domain wasn’t the only thing Cedric did during the past six months, though. He had also started laying down some of the foundations needed for his grand plans for this place.
It’s far from complete, but at the very least, it has already started.
Cedric wants all five of the cosmic realms of his domain to be connected seamlessly. He didn’t want any separation or disconnection to occur. He didn’t want his future citizens to be divided too much. It’s fine for them to have some cultural differences and other minor disagreements, but they cannot see themselves as complete strangers.
He also had further plans for specifically arranging the community this way, but that’s a matter for the future.
Apart from these other activities, Cedric mostly used his time to refine the sector domain, making it acknowledge him as its new lord so that he could actually stake his claim to it.
The title of the Sector Lord wasn’t just a title bestowed on him, nor was it just another huge responsibility dumped on his shoulders; it’s both and so much more.
Being the Sector Lord gives him the permission to refine a small place of the Primitive Universe for himself. This had to be done, because if he didn’t do it, then others could do it instead. If they succeed, they will be acknowledged by this domain as the Sector Lord instead of him, and that’s despite the bestowal of the councillors or the official records.
Cedric wasn’t one to let such a vulnerability exist, especially not in a territory where he’s planning to settle down with his family and his people. Therefore, he’s been working hard on refining the sector domain for himself.
Obviously, doing so isn’t an easy task. The Rising Sun Sector Domain wasn’t truly alive, but it does have a consciousness. That said, its consciousness was scattered and extremely chaotic.
Even with Cedric’s vast and indomitable willpower, it’s very challenging to collect and refine every single thread of this domain’s consciousness.
Cedric started doing this since the first day he came here, and he had been allotting a few hours each day to do so, advancing slowly but surely. However, even after a year, he only managed to refine about 25% of the total size of the domain.
If other sector lords were to know this, they’d probably be shocked and turn green with envy.
25% refinement in a single year might not sound like much, but nobody really understands how difficult it was to achieve this aside from Sector Lords.
One must understand that what they’re refining here were scattered pieces of the Primitive Universe. This consciousness was raw, wild, and very unruly. It takes extreme skill and indomitable willpower to catch a single one and refine it completely.
These threads of consciousness will struggle, resist, and fight back. It will not just stay still and allow itself to be refined or, in essence, be enslaved.
Many Sector Lords of the past and the present have struggled with this. Most of them faced backlash and had been injured in varying degrees during this process. And at minimum, reaching 25% refinement takes about 10 years for most of them.
Not 1 year, but ten years. And it only gets harder later on.
However, it’s clear that Cedric was a different beast altogether because he’s outpacing them greatly. And this was him only using a few hours each day to focus on refinement.
One would think that, at this pace, it would take him three more years to complete this refinement, but that would be wrong because each passing day, Cedric gets more and more familiar with the process, and it becomes easier and faster. It shouldn’t take him more than two years to completely refine the entire sector domain.
Again, this was absurd. If you ask other sector lords, they will tell you that the closer they get to complete refinement, the more difficult it gets. Some even experienced failure near the end, wasting decades of their effort and forcing them to start all over again.
It’s totally unlike Cedric’s progress, which only gets faster the deeper he goes.
The reason behind Cedric’s fast progress was because he could see them. Yes, this was yet another benefit brought to him by strange and divine eyes.
Cedric sees more than most. He could stare at the very structure of concept laws without facing any backlash or consequences. He could also see the threads of this sector domain’s consciousness, and because of that, refining them became much simpler for him.
He knows just how much force he needs to use to subdue each thread, making sure that he’s not using more than what is necessary, which both conserves his energy and gets rid of any uncertainties.
And it’s also because of his eyes that he knows that the threads of consciousness he’s refining were, in truth, just an excess of a much larger consciousness of the Primitive Universe.
He’s not really subduing parts of the Primitive Universe by refining these threads. The true main consciousness of the Primitive Universe was much larger and grander than this. It’s not something that a freshly minted Universe Master like him could stare at, let alone contend against.
These threads were more like stray thoughts of that main consciousness, one that is connected and lingered around specific areas, in his case, Rising Sun Domain. It’s these threads that he must subdue and refine to be in control of this area.
But of course, this control isn’t really absolute. Should the main consciousness of the Primitive Universe decide to take back control over this area, Cedric would be dethroned faster than he could blink. That’s just how it is.
If he wants to prevent this from happening, Cedric has to refine the main consciousness of the Primitive Universe itself, and that’s not something a puny Universe Master like him can do for now.
But even though he knows that he could be potentially dethroned by the real owner of this place at any given moment, Cedric isn’t really afraid.
So long as he doesn’t cross the bottom line of the main consciousness of the Primitive Universe, he’d be fine. It will have no reason to kick him out or eliminate him. If anything, it might even support him, especially if he’s doing an excellent job at managing this sector domain.
And so, his days of doing his responsibilities as a sector lord continued.
From time to time, he’d check with General Skylark to see their progress.
He and his army of space marines have already created a defensive line around the territory. They have scattered themselves all around the sector domain, hidden from prying eyes and dutifully looking out for any possible stragglers or enemies to be dealt with.
Kudos to these men, really. They move fast and with ruthless efficiency. They’re making more progress than Cedric himself. Although that’s an unfair comparison because General Skylark and his men were trained for this, Cedric wasn’t.
Besides, now that it has come to this, their development progress was bound to slow down. For what they needed next, only Cedric could provide. They still have supplies, but it’s limited, and they won’t be receiving any more from the council because now, their livelihood is attached to Cedric.
Cedric knows this too and has already made a preemptive move before the general could even raise concerns.
The humble workers he hired through the Golden Bangle Bank’s channels should be arriving soon.
