CHAPTER 773: THE GRAND SHIFTING SECTOR FORMATION

--

More time passed, and soon, it’ll be 50 years since Cedric became a Sector Lord.

Currently, he, the main body this time, stood tall as he witnessed the deployment of the Sector Domain’s first layer of protection, which took this long to complete. Of course, Quinella and Wilfred were with him.

"Ready to launch at your command, Lord," Enzo of the Makers Guild said in a placid tone. A soft reminder of why he’s here.

Cedric nodded and said, "Go, launch it."

With his permission, Enzo turned to his men and nodded. Then, they started the launch of the defense system.

Fwoosh!!

A strong gust of wind and aftershocks erupted from the machines they created. Ten large structures flew up the sky, shimmering with a colorful spectrum of lights and emitting sharp screeches.

They released so much activity that it disturbed the fabric of space. And before long, they began flying off to the horizon one by one like comets.

Interestingly enough, the aftertrails they left didn’t fade; they didn’t show any signs of fading either. They remained behind as proof that the machines once flew over this specific direction or for an entirely different purpose.

Cedric said nothing, and so did the test. They stood still, patient and waiting.

The machines didn’t just fly in a single direction and stop at the coordinates punched in them. They changed courses mid-flight, leaving behind a lasting trail that intersected as the machines continued on their path.

This went on for a while. It wasn’t until a week later, since their launch, that the machines finally stopped flying around and went still at their destined coordinates.

During this time, they flew across the entire sector domain unimpeded and fast. The aftertrails they left behind now turned into a series of complicated intersections of lines that covered the entire sector domain.

"You can activate the machines now," Cedric told Enzo, and the man didn’t need to be told twice.

With a push of a button, they activated the machines’ functions remotely, and then, a light exploded.

The intersecting aftertrails drawn all over the sector domain seemingly caught on golden flames, the same ones that Cedric used regularly. They became so bright that the light was seen by every living creature within the sector domain.

All of the Rising Sun Domain seemed to welcome dawn itself when this happened.

This lasted for about ten minutes before fading. And when it did, everything slowly returned to its usual state. However, those who knew what was happening behind the scenes also knew that from this moment onwards, the Rising Sun Domain was no longer the same.

Cedric closed his eyes. He could feel his connection with the Sector Domain deepening as time went on. He had already refined the Sector Domain’s will and connected it to himself a few years ago; that has already solidified his position as this domain’s Sector Lord.

But this deepening connection right now? This one’s different from that. It’s more personal, more detailed, and more intimate. It’s like his entire body was the whole sector domain itself, but not really.

The intersecting lines that caught on fire just now? Yeah, in truth, that was a Grand Formation, one that he learned from the Architect and the Divine Blood Race’s inheritance.

This formation was called the ’Grand Shifting Sector Formation’—a tool they used not only to keep close surveillance over their lands but also to defend them from their foes.

With him at its core, Cedric could sense everything that was happening within his sector domain no matter where he was. To say that the entirety of the Rising Sun Domain just became his body wouldn’t be an exaggeration at all.

This formation was tied into his soul. Therefore, even if he were to be chaos realms away from here, he would still know what’s happening. Distance no longer mattered.

As for its defensive properties, with just a single thought from Cedric, he could shift a target location within this domain at any given moment as he pleased. He need not care about how this shift would affect his territory; the formation itself will take care of that for him.

So, in case that enemies manage to infiltrate this place somehow, they will be at Cedric’s mercy. He could either trap them within a looping area eternally, connect them from one end to the other of the sector domain to not allow them entry, or worse, just suppress them directly.

Of course, there were ways to counter this; this formation was, by no means, perfect. That said, it’ll be difficult, especially for those who are unaware of just how complex this formation was or simply had no idea that it was here in the first place.

The formation also needed energy to function, but that’s hardly unusual; any defensive measure needed energy, and this one’s no different. The good thing is that the formation could absorb raw origin energy; it doesn’t need to tap into Cedric’s reserve.

It also has a very large capacity, and its rate of absorption was swift, so Cedric has a lot of leeway to mobilize its functions without worrying too much.

The ten large machines they launched earlier were the cores of this formation. If one of them gets destroyed, the formation will lose a chunk of its strength.

Fortunately, they were created to be self-sustainable. They don’t need people for repairs or maintenance; all they need is raw origin energy, and they’d be fine on their own.

Furthermore, they are hidden across the entire sector domain. Except for Cedric, and maybe his heirs, they will never see these formation cores ever again.

With a relieved sigh, Cedric opened his eyes. He then turned to his people and said,

"Good work, everybody. Everything’s functioning as expected."

"Prepare a banquet for yourselves to celebrate; don’t be shy and take as much as you want from the resource pile—you deserve it."

"I’m also giving you a month’s worth of vacation. After that we resume our work."

After saying this, Cedric began walking away with his guards. He disappeared after a while.

Enzo and General Skylark looked at each other for a bit, then they turned to their men. Enzo then yelled:

"Alright, boys! Party time!!"

"WOOOOO!!!"

**

The celebratory banquet went on as expected.

Enzo and his men from the Makers Guild certainly weren’t shy. They drank until their bellies bulged from too much alcohol.

Even General Skylark and his men were swept away by the celebratory mood. The general even found himself absolutely hammered despite his life evolution.

And if these soldiers couldn’t resist the temptation, how could the demons? Of course, they too were included. They drank till their hearts dropped and could no longer understand what’s happening around them.

Cedric sensed all of this happening even though he’s at the center of the sector domain. His new sense of closeness with his domain, thanks to the formation, made this possible.

He didn’t attend the banquet; he didn’t need to. He’d just make the mood somber and hold them back from actually celebrating to their hearts’ content.

Instead, he just returned to his home as usual and immersed himself in the changes in his perception.

It’ll take some time before he gets used to this. He also has to remember that this godly perception was only limited to his sector domain.

The true range of his perception was only around 10% of what he currently has right now. It only became this big because of the formation. This was something he needed to constantly remind himself, lest he lose himself to it.

Even though the formation was already launched, earlier than his expectations, if he may add, the work was far from done.

Cedric wasn’t satisfied with just this. He’s never one to compromise with the safety of his people, especially his family.

The Grand Shifting Sector Formation was only meant to be the first layer of protection for this sector domain. It is not enough to truly satisfy him.

But with this early in the sector domain’s development, it’s alright. At least they already have one for use.

If other upstart sector lords were to be informed of this, they’d probably tear their hair out from frustration and envy. They’d even call him a cheater.

50 years might sound like a long time, but in terms of a sector domain’s development? This was no different from a couple of weeks.

Building a defensive measure for the entire sector domain in such a short period of time? How was that possible without cheating?

Cedric can’t really defend himself against that accusation. If they’re referring to his wealth, luck, and knowledge, then he was, indeed, cheating.

But if cheating means providing for and protecting the people he’s responsible for, then he’d cheat all the way. What’s so bad about that? It’s not like he’s forbidden from doing so.

Hell, if others had the ability, they would cheat too. Why make things difficult and hard when there’s an easy and efficient way out?

The life of a Sector Lord is already destined to be difficult and miserable; there’s no need to make it more complicated when there’s absolutely no need to.
