CHAPTER 774: INVITATION

--

Cedric stood watch over his sons as they began their breakthrough.

It has taken a while, but they finally felt confident enough to complete their transformation. The ’pseudo’ in their Immortal title will be removed after this, making them a real and genuine Immortal of the Primitive Universe.

Intense fluctuations of concept laws surrounded his sons as their breakthrough occurred. Godwyn was being baptized by Fire Law and Sniping Law, Gilderoy was surrounded by the rich aura of Nature Laws, and Gerald was being forged by the conflicting laws of Fire and Ice.

All of these laws were at the Great Law level, an overachievement, surely, but one that felt necessary and expected of them considering who their father was.

The years they spent learning everything about the Primitive Universe on their own allowed them to understand just how huge this world was. They also understood just how immensely dominant the human race was.

Obviously, they’ve learned about their father’s activities here. They watched the replays of Heavenly Star’s Millennial Tournament from start to finish and saw how their father completely dominated it and nobody could even compare.

He was practically untouchable. Nobody could even come close. It’s not like his competition was bad. It’s more like their father was just too strong.

As his sons, they couldn’t allow themselves to be too bad. This was an unsaid standard they set for themselves ever since they began their Life Evolution journey.

That hasn’t changed until now. And in their opinion, it’s better for their progress to be slow but solid instead of fast but unstable.

This idea even extended to their own families. Although, just like their father, they don’t really enforce it. It is highly encouraged but never forced.

Cedric will be the first one to criticize them if they start forcing their descendants to a certain path and standards.

Anyway, the synchronization breakthrough continued. It lasts for an entire week before it’s finished.

By then, Cedric was relieved because at least this confirms that the Primitive Universe’s will doesn’t discriminate at all, that he wasn’t just a special case.

But of course, this isn’t certain just yet. More people need to complete this synchronization, preferably even the other races from his home too; that way, the data will be more inclusive.

Though right now, he’s just relieved that everything seems to be doing just fine.

As for his sons, the feeling of becoming a true Immortal of the Primitive Universe left them a lasting profound impression.

It’s truly no wonder that their father goes into seclusion a lot after coming to the Primitive Universe. The incompleteness of their home was just too obvious and uncomfortable.

The sense of strength they feel right now is just insane. One careless move from them could potentially do immense damage to their home, and this is with them actively controlling their movement.

Until the day that their home feels no different from the Primitive Universe, it would seem that it’d be wiser for them to go into seclusion too. But at the very least, they can start sending their clones out to start their adventures.

Speaking of their home, things have been going well.

The Void Slave, now serving as the filter between the raw and primal air of the Primitive Universe and the Primeval Scarlet Dust Realm’s incompleteness, has recovered well over these past few decades.

So much so that it has already begun improving the state of the realm.

Right now, it’s slow. The Void Slave was allowing trickles of the Primitive Universe’s primal forces to leak into the realm, slowly but surely tempering the latter.

The realm isn’t ready for a complete overhaul or a reset, just like what the Void Slave did in the past, and its new master wouldn’t allow that either, so this was their next best option.

Of course, it has to start slow. If the Void Slave introduces too much of the Primitive Universe’s primal forces into the realm, that risks immediate instability to the realm. And knowing how its master greatly valued his people, that was a capital crime; it was forbidden to commit.

But there can’t be too little either because the primal forces of the realm would just overpower the ones it brought from the outside. Therefore, it needed to look for the right ratio.

Cedric helped, of course. The Void Slave wouldn’t do anything without his permission, after all. And with his help, they discovered just the right ratio for now.

Of course, this will be adjusted in the future. The goal is to eventually lose the need for filtering at all. When that time comes, the Void Slave will be more than ready to become way more than it is right now.

But for now, this would have to do.

"Hm? What’s this?"

Cedric was in his office when he suddenly received a letter.

It came from a courier who passed it to General Skylark, telling him that it came from the Human Council and that its contents were for his eyes only.

The general has confirmed that the seal was indeed genuine and that it truly came from the council. Now, the letter landed on his desk.

Cedric took it and carefully unsealed it. When the letter was brought out, light burst from it, which scanned Cedric’s body, causing him to raise an eyebrow.

’Identity confirmed.’ A brief mechanical voice was heard from the letter afterward.

Cedric hummed. He guessed that this letter came with a mechanism that confirms the identity of the one who opened it. If the mechanism sensed that it found the right person, nothing happens. Otherwise, it might self-destruct, destroying the letter with it.

It’s not really surprising for the council to use such a method. But this also meant that the contents of this letter must be really important to make them do this.

He opened the letter and began reading. As it turns out, the contents were simple.

"An invitation for a gathering, huh?"

Yes, this letter was an invitation to important people. The venue was the Human Council HQ, and they’re expected to come.

Cedric thought for a bit and said, "This aligns with the day of tribute. I should see my fellow sector lords as well."

It shouldn’t be limited to just Sector Lords either. Other important personnel should attend this gathering too. And since the invitation came from the Human Council themselves, it’s actually less of an invitation and more like a summons.

The prestige of the Human Council is just that great.

"Hmm..."

This wasn’t him deliberating whether he should go or not. He’s attending, of course. He cannot, in good conscience, ignore the summons of the Human Council, especially with how generous they’ve been towards him.

This was him planning his actions and weighing his options.

This gathering might present itself as just a simple party, banquet, or gala, but it’s far more complicated than that.

Cedric will be waltzing right up to the core of this chaos realm’s politics. He’s already involved, but still, this was big, bigger than he should be handling this early.

"Gotta have new clothes, though," Cedric muttered to himself.

As a new Sector Lord who’s about to attend such a large event like this, appearances and first impressions matter. And the very first thing they’d see would be his physical appearance, not his attitude, so clothes were important.

With this in mind, he summoned Enzo to his office to ask him if he knows someone who could make clothes appropriate for an event like this.

This turned out to be a great idea; Enzo introduced him to five people, all with different specialties and price tags, but all were members of the Makers Guild too, so quality was, of course, guaranteed.

Once he made his choice, Cedric left the task of contacting the person through Enzo.

With that out of the way, he focused on other things.

Obviously, Quinella and Wilfred will come with him for this. Even if he were to tell them that they don’t need to, they will come anyway, for that’s their job.

What he’s concerned about is whether to attend in person or send his clones instead.

Cedric was not under any illusion that the council had no idea about his clones. First of all, the councillors were all at the peak of this world and life evolution. His little tricks shouldn’t be able to escape their eyes.

They must’ve ignored the first time since they truly couldn’t care less. But for such an important event like this, sending out clones instead might straight up be disrespectful, especially since they even used his real name for this invitation.

"Fine, I’ll go in person." Cedric sighed, "There shouldn’t be any danger anyway. And if there ever was, which is very unlikely, I could just immediately change places with my clones; distance doesn’t matter to me."

This was one of his trump cards. Cedric wasn’t one to play around with his safety. Of course, there were still ways to counter this, but Cedric had a lot of ways to keep himself safe.

And like he said, it’s very unlikely for something bad to happen within the Human Council HQ anyway, so he shouldn’t be too worried.
