CHAPTER 789: MANIFESTATION OF THE DOORS

--

In the depths of the Bug Empress’ consciousness, she actively sought out the mystical and, frankly, unreasonable curse that plagued her children.

As domineering and deadly as Greg’s postmortem curse was, it’s ultimately unable to affect the Bug Empress at all. She was on a different plane of existence already; her authority far surpasses what Greg’s curse could handle.

However, that doesn’t mean that getting rid of Greg’s postmortem curse was easy. This wasn’t the Bug Empress’ specialty. Sure, she should be able to get rid of it eventually, but it’s still going to take some time.

And the longer she takes, the more of her children suffer from it.

Greg’s sacrifice caused the ceaseless discharge of bugs to visibly stagger, a result that was clear for all to see, and its effects weren’t limited here; it transcends time and space, also causing immense suffering to bugs far away from here.

It’s a little outrageous that a tiny creature could cause this much destruction and loss on the Horde. But this represents just how many unknown wonders and mysteries there are in the world that even the Bug Empress doesn’t know of.

"Get her out now. We won’t get another chance like this again," Berk hissed to his fellow councillors.

They didn’t need to be told twice; they were already doing something even before he said this.

Together, they began displacing the area that Gibson anchored. Their goal was to transport it outside of the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm so that they could handle the Bug Empress better.

This might be confusing, so let’s clarify the situation.

The councillors could fight the Bug Empress to death, sure. But as the sovereigns of the humans, their first and foremost priority is the safety of their people.

Earlier, when Gibson used almost half of his entire origin energy reserves, he caused so much disturbance that it could be felt at every corner of the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm.

This was just a glimpse of his true power. This was just him mobilizing his origin energy, yet it already caused this much commotion.

And this was just Gibson alone. His comrades haven’t followed suit just yet. If they did, one could only imagine what would happen.

It’s because of this that they have to be very careful. They were too strong to release their full might, especially within their territory.

And if they’re like this, then the Bug Empress, who’s known to be slightly above any single one of them, would be even more outrageous.

Her presence alone has already shaken the entire chaos realm. And unlike the councillors, she had no qualms about causing destruction within this place because this wasn’t her home. She’s on the enemy’s turf. In fact, it would even make sense for her to cause as much damage as she could.

The only reason why she held back was because she was being careful not to destroy the still stabilizing doors to the Unstable Heavenly Domain. Everything and everybody else can go to hell for all she cares.

Obviously, the councillors didn’t want her anywhere near the Unstable Heavenly Domain, so it would make sense for them to get her out as far as they could away from it.

But for this to work, they have to unleash parts of their strength, and obviously, this causes a large commotion to happen.

The entirety of the eastern side of the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm seemed to have come to life. The mystical forces and concept laws around started simmering into activity, seemingly responding to the will and command of the councillors.

Cedric could feel it; everybody in his domain could feel it; even the people who are nowhere near this place could feel it.

This commotion will evidently cause people to speculate and investigate this place, but at this point, it could no longer be helped. It’s a little too late to stay low-profile anymore.

Inwardly, the Bug Empress cursed. She’s aware of what they’re trying to do, but she was still too occupied with Greg’s curse to launch a retaliation or stop them from displacing her.

The Bug Empress sure was capable of multitasking; however, things worked differently for her. It’s not easy for her to stop when she starts producing children. And even if she’s able to stop, she’d still be vulnerable and would have to destroy Gibson’s prison before being able to interfere with their actions. It’s not that she hasn’t tried to solve this problem at all; it’s just the way it is.

This was the balancing act of the Supreme Will. Being able to give birth to bugs that reach adulthood in a split second was already an outrageous gift. She can’t have it all.

This, coupled with Greg’s postmortem curse pressing her for attention, made it even more difficult for her to stop them from doing what they want.

It’s no different from forcing her to choose what she should prioritize.

And to make matters worse, they all felt shocking fluctuations behind them.

When they paid attention to it, they were all surprised to see that it was coming from the area where the doors to the Unstable Heavenly Domain were manifesting.

There, they saw it, a pair of doors that seemed tomade out of the purest ivory adorned with colorful gems. It released a soft aurora that made it an alluring sight.

"It’s here!!" Urek screamed in excitement. His fellow councillors’ eyes also shone resplendently.

Indeed, the doors to the Unstable Heavenly Domain have indeed manifested completely. It was now ready to receive guests on a first-come, first-served basis, and only the race of the first entity to touch the doors will be allowed entry.

Despite his excitement, Urek reined in his temper; he looked at his comrades and said,

"You guys go; leave her to me. I’ll get her out somehow. Our priority is to secure that place. Hurry!"

Nicholas and the rest were surprised when Urek gave up for this chance.

Seeing their hesitation, Urek urged even more, "Come on! We don’t have all day! Don’t worry about me; I can wait for another 2,500 years. What matters now is to prevent this bitch from entering! Go, touch the doors!"

"Urek’s right. You guys go on; I’ll stay with him." Gibson followed suit: "He needs help; this bitch is about to go crazy. You guys, go! Now!"

Nicholas, Patricia, and Berk hesitated no more. They saw the resolve on both Urek’s and Berk’s faces, and they’d be disrespecting their sacrifice if they didn’t move now, so they did.

But before they could go far, the worst had come.

"Mine!!!"

The Bug Empress’ screech was so loud that it could almost be heard across the chaos realm.

Ultimately, she’s unable to resist the allure of the Unstable Heavenly Domain, causing her to make a choice.

She stopped trying to solve Greg’s postmortem curse. She also stopped producing bugs and forcibly hastened the transition, which definitely caused a backlash to her, one that she endured with gritted teeth.

And as a testament to her desire, her deep, terrifying, and incredibly ominous power began manifesting into reality. Her aura caused everything around her to be plunged in despair and terror.

Her sheer presence was so heavy that it’s causing Gibson’s prison to creak dangerously.

"Fuck!" Gibson snarled as he desperately urged his machines to repair the prison so that she’d stay anchored here.

Urek also responded by summoning his own power. He yelled as he forced the prison to be displaced outside of the realm, hoping to give his comrades enough time to reach the doors to touch them first.

Nicholas, Patricia, and Berk resolutely flew to the doors. They even directly tore space around them to take a shortcut.

Unfortunately, the Bug Empress isn’t going to let that happen this easily.

Despite the odds, she snarled and broke Gibson’s prison, tearing it apart in a single slap.

The Bug Empress looked absolutely wrecked and wretched. Gone was her elegance and ethereal beauty. Now, she truly resembled her title as the Bug Empress.

After destroying Gibson’s prison, the first thing she did was to chase Nicholas, Patricia, and Berk.

Gibson and Urek both tried to stop her, but in response, she created clones of herself to stall them. The clones were nowhere near strong enough to actually cause problems for them, but they sure did delay them long enough for her to catch up to the trio.

Sensing that they can’t outrun her, it was Berk who decided to stop and turn around to stop her.

His body morphed into something else that nobody could truly pay attention to right now. He called for his other pets to join him in stopping the Bug Empress, but in response, the lady just slapped him to the side.

Her eyes never regarded him. Her eyes were on the doors the moment they appeared, and they have never left.

She crossed the distance in a split second, coming right next to Nicholas and Patricia right away, and with her speed, she’d gain on them and most likely reach the doors earlier than them.

Both Nicholas and Patricia knew this; therefore, instead of advancing, they decided to stop her instead.
