CHAPTER 792: PERFECT TIMING

--

If Travis had been awake and witnessed everything, he might be able to answer that question.

Because surprisingly, Cedric took note of Travis’ skills and emulated them, in a much smaller but finer way, though.

Yes, Cedric used Divination Laws to predict what’s going to happen. Don’t be mistaken, his Divination Laws aren’t as good as Travis’, that’s a fact.

But how? How was he not discovered by the Bug Empress and punished like Travis? How was he fine? And how was he able to predict what’s going to happen in the end when Travis had to literally risk his entire existence just to see glimpses of the general scene?

Well, the difference was in what they wanted to see.

You see, Travis felt a nagging feeling before he divined the future. It’s an instinct that diviners like him develop in their continued practice of the art.

Trusting this instinct, Travis went ahead and performed a divination ritual. His question was simple but very general: ’What is the source of the foreboding feeling he’s having?’

The divination ritual worked exactly as he intended. It showed him the answer he was looking for. It showed him the Bug Empress—who’s definitely the real cause behind the ominous future he’s sensing.

It also showed him snippets of what she planned to do, bits and pieces of how the fight would go on, and so on. It’s a jumbled mess, really.

The caveat is that the Bug Empress also saw him peeking. They stared at each other’s eyes, and the Bug Empress didn’t appreciate what he was doing; that’s why he was punished. This was made worse because Travis wanted to see more and change the outcome if it proved detrimental to them. That’s why the Bug Empress was extra harsh on him.

Cedric, however, was curious about an entirely different thing. What he wanted to know is, ’Who will touch the doors to the Unstable Heavenly Domain?’.

Compared to Travis’ inquiries, Cedric’s was more detailed and exact. He cared not about the conflict, the hows, the whys, or anything else. He didn’t want to see how it’s going to happen; he just wanted to know who it will be.

And, like Travis, he succeeded. The laws responded and showed him the image of the tiny creature. And unlike its creator, the tiny bug couldn’t sense when someone’s peeking from the past, nor does it have the power to stop Cedric either.

Moreover, Cedric performed his divination amidst the battle between the councillors and the Bug Empress, preventing her from paying attention to a minor character like him.

More importantly, Cedric was paying attention to the fight. Because everybody was holding back, he was able to follow their movement and study their capabilities better from where he was.

He noticed that the Bug Empress wasn’t really good at space laws. She’s brute-forcing her way through it. Her control was nonexistent. She could sense what’s happening, but she doesn’t have the finesse that’s required to manipulate space.

Cedric was doubtful of this at first, but when Gibson placed her in a spatial prison, his guess was pretty much confirmed.

Even if he could deal with Gibson’s prison, he could do so even if he’s majorly occupied by something else.

Yet the Bug Empress couldn’t; all she did was to produce more children, hoping to blow up the prison by overpopulating it. Sure, she might’ve been able to produce children that could eat space, but for some reason, she didn’t do that. He had no idea why, but he doesn’t care.

All he knew was that the Bug Empress was surprisingly bad at space laws, and that’s something he could take advantage of.

He kept watching until the Bug Empress went so very close to the doors. That’s when he decided to make a move. He timed the extermination of the Bug Empress’ lingering resentment on Travis’ soul with that, stopping her just in time from physically touching the doors.

Cedric also predicted the Bug Empress’ desperation, which was also when she decided to play dirty, sending the tiny bug to touch the doors in her stead.

He didn’t do a divination ritual for this. Cedric had been in enough battles against desperate foes to see the signs appearing right before his naked eyes. Therefore, timing his interference also wasn’t much of an effort for him.

All of these factors led to the current situation. He pushed the doors to the Unstable Heavenly Domain wide open, granting and securing this immense opportunity for the human race.

The only spontaneous act he did was sending the Bug Empress to the Supreme Will’s direct gaze, which took a lot of effort, by the way. Because of that, she was repelled, forced to flee with her tail between her legs.

He already offended the Bug Empress by stealing her prize right before her very eyes. Sending her to the Supreme Will to be spanked, though? Now, that makes it personal.

Cedric wouldn’t be surprised if the Bug Empress now has a personal vendetta against him. This isn’t something that he wanted to have in the first place, but it couldn’t be helped.

Better this than making way for her and becoming the human race’s greatest sinner.

All of this is why Cedric was safe and sound despite his risky endeavors. He grasped the perfect timing to interfere and had no hesitation when he moved.

He could explain all of this to the councillors and might receive praise for it. But honestly, Cedric wasn’t interested at all. He could even turn his back to the Unstable Heavenly Domain; how could he be tempted by the crumbs of praise from them?

Cedric did all of this to stop the fight. Both the Bug Empress and the councillors were creating too much noise and causing too much destruction around them.

If he hadn’t been prepared, his territory might’ve turned into a ruined battlefield at this point; that’s something that he clearly didn’t want to see.

**

The councillors didn’t think too much.

In their eyes, a win is a win. Even though a junior embarrassed them by solving their problems for them. They didn’t feel too concerned or vindictive about that. Instead, they were grateful for it.

So much so that they went above and beyond to fulfill Cedric’s requests. As sovereigns of the human race, they surely couldn’t be stingy or bitter.

His request wasn’t that difficult to implement anyway. He just wanted to preserve the peace and security of his territory since it’s still developing.

That request isn’t too much. In fact, it’s way too easy to fulfill. All they need to do is to create an edict, and no matter who they are, so long as they’re citizens of the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm, they’re forced to obey.

And that’s exactly what they did. Not only that, they even ordered an additional army to surround the area and coordinate with Cedric’s men for peacekeeping.

Cedric has already forfeited his rightful place in the Unstable Heavenly Domain. Though the councillors found it strange how he’s not even the slightest bit curious about this place. He didn’t even peek.

He might have his reasons, though, and they won’t know unless he tells them. But that doesn’t matter anymore.

Their priority now is to enter the Unstable Heavenly Domain and discover their path forward.

For this, the councillors went all out.

Before entering, they left a series of instructions for their men to regulate the rest who will come, because there will be others, for sure.

The doors to the Unstable Heavenly Domain won’t stay around for long. Time is ticking, and the more they hesitate, the more time runs out. So, right after leaving their set of instructions, the councillors immediately entered the doors and began pursuing their interests.

The interior of the Unstable Heavenly Domain was...well, unstable, obviously.

It’s fragile and brittle, like even an ounce of uncontrolled strength could cause it to collapse. But in reality, that’s just how it felt; the truth was different.

The Unstable Heavenly Domain was actually quite resistant. The councillors themselves could unleash their complete strength in here without having to fear destroying this entire place.

Not that they’d do that, of course.

As stated, there was no Supreme Will here. Not even a shadow or an idea. It’s vast, fragmented, and a bonafide mess, but it’s an opportunity nonetheless, and they could hardly wait to explore its depths again.

Their priority is to search for their own fortune, one that will lead them to break the remaining shackles they have and finally become Primal Origin Lifeforms.

Only when they can achieve this will they be able to face the Bug Empress and her endless army without flinching or losing. Only when they become Primal Origin Lifeforms would they be able to ensure the safety and continuity of their kind.

Opportunities like this were rare. Even if they wait for a long time, it probably won’t appear in the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm for a very long time. That’s why they have to seize this chance while they can, and they can’t afford to waste any more time that they already have.
