Endless Leveling Done Right!
Chapter 239: The Weakness Of Nobility
CHAPTER 239: THE WEAKNESS OF NOBILITY
"Alex, didn’t you hear what I just said?" Chuck had expected a different kind of reaction from his roommate.
Even if Alex didn’t show fear, Chuck at least thought that the other party would be worried. What kind of reaction was this? Was that really excitement on his roommate’s face? Chuck even doubted if he worded things wrongly or if he and Alex had mismatched vocabularies.
"I heard you," Alex replied. "So, basically, the Lionheart Society is going to target our club and our members, right?"
"Yeah, that’s what I said." Chuck blinked. "Aren’t you worried or scared about them eyeing us?"
"Why should I be worried?" Alex inquired.
"I mean, the current president is Chester Blackvale, the son of the Duke of Blackvale. Their vice president is Xenia’s brother, Prince Edward. Both of them are not to be underestimated."
"Chuck, you think too much," Alex comforted. "The most they can do is bully our members."
"Isn’t that bad?" Chuck insisted.
"Bullying is always a bad thing," Alex agreed. "We’ll just have to make sure to collect evidence when we get bullied. If we do it well, won’t we get material just perfect for blackmail?"
Alex’s devilish smirk clued Chuck in on his intentions.
"You plan to blackmail them?" Chuck asked in disbelief.
"Why not?" Alex answered. "Chuck, what is the thing nobles hate the most?"
"Paying taxes to the kingdom?"
"Um, yes. Reasonable. They do hate that a lot. But think of something else they hate. Think of their weakness."
Chuck crossed his arms over his chest and pondered a different answer. However, no matter how much he tried to think, he couldn’t come up with anything that nobles hated more than financially contributing to the greater good.
"I give up," Chuck said. "What is it?"
Alex’s grin widened. "The weakness of Nobles is that they care a lot about their reputation. So what if their reputation suddenly takes a hit? Reputation is so important to nobles. The higher their rank, the more it matters. In the royal family, for example, a good and bad reputation makes the difference as to whether they have the chance to succeed the king.
"In history, whenever a scum became King, didn’t the people always revolt? No matter the rank or power, no one would like to deal with that. That’s why the princes do their best to appear courageous and righteous. Although the Lionheart Society is rotten to the core, and the commoners in the academy are not able to stand against them, that doesn’t mean we can’t do anything."
Alex then reminded Chuck who the current president of the student council was.
"Theo Asborne is the Third Prince of the Solara Kingdom," Alex said. "But even he who holds so much power needs to follow the rules of the academy. Of course, he can twist and bend the rules every now and then, but he will always make sure not to go past the bottom line of the academy.
"I’m sure you still don’t understand this, so leave everything to me. I’ll make sure to milk them dry and make them regret targeting our club."
Actually, the bullying part was on par with the story of ELO.
Renard and Nessia, who were both Commoners, would get bullied by the Lionheart Society, which would allow them to mature as the protagonists.
Alex planned to take a different approach and not actively shield the main heroes from the original story line.
If he always stopped things before they happened, there wouldn’t be any character progression for Renard and Nessia.
This might even cause them to miss out on the fruitful encounters that would help them grow into the saviors of ELO.
Of course, if their club was targeted, Alex would deal with it.
But for personal matters, he would just observe from afar and let the two heroes handle what difficulties came their way.
They were not greenhouse flowers who needed Alex’s constant protection and care.
In fact, Alex wanted them to become strong as soon as possible. That way, he could hug their thighs in the future!
"Well, if you say so." Chuck nodded. "Do you have any advice for me so I won’t get bullied?"
"Stick to Princess Xenia like a simp," Alex answered in a heartbeat. "Make sure that anyone who sees you is convinced that you have fallen head over heels in love with her."
"Tsk!" Chuck clicked his tongue because he had already half expected this answer from Alex.
He was certain that his older brother, Caspian, would target him personally and make his school life miserable.
This was why he sought serious advice from Alex.
But his president told him to stick to his fiancee like a simp?
’Over my dead sexy body,’ Chuck thought.
Alex looked at his roommate’s expression of defiance. He was starting to understand why Chuck was a troublemaker.
’It might also be because Caspian bullies him behind the scenes,’ Alex realized. ’He might’ve decided to take the initiative and cause trouble for others before others can do the same to him. If that’s his hidden backstory in the game, Chuck is a smart guy.’
In short, people couldn’t cause trouble for Chuck if he troubled them first!
’As for Lavinia and Charles...’ Alex mulled over his other club members.
Lavinia, Nessia, and Renard were in Class B, so they could look out for each other.
Charles was in Class C, with Alex and Chuck.
Lavinia wasn’t someone who would allow herself to get bullied. Besides, her grandfather and the Headmaster were close. Although the student body didn’t know this, her connections would be useful if things got out of hand.
As for Charles... Alex had to admit that he was a little worried about him.
Right now, the teenage boy was going through a lot.
He had to gather enough academy points to buy the cure for his little sister, Eris, while deciding whether he should stay with Endless Horizon or join the Obsidian Fang.
While Charles didn’t have a weak personality, it wouldn’t change the fact that he had the mindset of a commoner, which the members of the Lionheart Society could easily take advantage of.
’The only safe people in our club are Latifa and Princess Xenia,’ Alex thought. ’Latifa is now staying at the clocktower, so she’s safe. As for the princess, no one will dare to harm her.’
As for himself? Alex wasn’t too worried.
In fact, he was looking forward to their acts of bullying.
Professor Gareth owed him a favor. If the bullies really went overboard, he could always use his pocket watch to show the professor what was done to him.
With this, the one who would be on the losing end would be none other than the Lionheart Society.
Sure, they might be noble students, but they were still students.
If a Professor took them to the disciplinary committee, they would definitely regret their actions.
Last but not least, Alex and Dim Dim held grudges.
With the two of them working together, the members of Lionheart Society would be coughing out mouthfuls of blood in no time!
