Endless World: The Rise of Leonard Lawson
Chapter 200: Auntie
CHAPTER 200: AUNTIE
Leonard’s mood soured because he spotted Curtis from afar alongside two people he really didn’t want to see: Mirelle and Claudia.
"What are you three doing here?" He questioned coldly, his face completely shifted from warmth to an indifferent expression.
The trio was slightly alarmed and frightened by Leonard’s tone of speech and demeanor.
"Big brother, don’t get angry." Amidst their frightened state, Ellie tugged on Leonard’s sleeve and pleaded.
"Ellie doesn’t want to see you get angry. You are a nice person."
"What did I say previously? Call me Master." Leonard instantly dispelled the cold aura and corrected Ellie.
"If Ellie calls you Master, will you not get angry anymore?"
"It’ll depend on how you say it."
"Master~"
Upon hearing Ellie’s cheerful voice and an intent that clearly wanted him to be at ease, Leonard laughed softly.
’The Crown Prince actually laughed?’ Curtis’s eyes widened slightly in surprise. Ever since Leonard had arrived at Velastra, he had never seen him laughing or smiling in a genuine manner.
It was always a fake smile or laugh to entertain others, or he used it to deceive and mask his actual thought process.
’Looks like the Crown Prince had gone out to take a breather.’ Mirelle also held similar thoughts and realized her actions had deeply affected Leonard. To force the Crown Prince to crawl from the vent to escape the hotel showed how much she had disappointed him.
Claudia didn’t hold many thoughts regarding Leonard’s cold and indifferent behavior. She was used to it and also knew she was on his list of targets for elimination.
As the atmosphere gradually turned awkward, Leonard waved his hand in an annoyed manner.
"Since you don’t want to answer, then leave now." He said coolly. It had been a few minutes already, yet they still remained quiet.
He was certain that his whereabouts were exposed because of the person in charge of distributing the porridge earlier.
As for his disappearance, he never expected he would be able to conceal it for long. With the constant verification from the Crimson Guards to ensure his safety, the lack of response would make them barge inside to check for his condition.
If he were present, then they would gladly receive their due punishment.
However, if he wasn’t, then it would become a deadly consequence.
"We were worried for your safety," Curtis bowed his head and responded.
"I know you’re disappointed in us, but the slum isn’t a safe place." Mirelle chimed in and explained that the slum covered a large part of Velastra. It was impossible for the current manpower to monitor everything in the slum.
Moreover, the slum was a very narrow and complex terrain.
"When is it your turn to speak on my behalf?" Leonard questioned them.
"I’m the Crown Prince here!" He had already sensed a sound formation was active, so he didn’t mind raising his voice.
With his voice raised, Curtis immediately knelt on the ground with both knees.
This was the first time he had seen Leonard using such a tone against themselves.
As for Mirelle, she could only lower her head to avoid eye contact, not daring to speak another word.
"Yes, you’re the almighty Crown Prince. But so what? That doesn’t stop others from trying to assassinate you." Claudia suddenly chimed in and snorted.
"I know you want me dead, so I’m not afraid of your tone. I just want to inform you of this. We didn’t come here to simply find you, but also because Redflow’s traces were last seen here."
"Redflow was here..." Leonard’s expression changed slightly. In contrast to his agitated emotion, he was more concerned with capturing Redflow.
As long as Redflow remained on the loose, the thorn in his heart would never be removed.
While he was agitated by the news that he could have stumbled across Redflow, he suddenly felt a warm and small hand holding his.
Startled, he turned around and glanced at Ellie.
"What’s the matter, Ellie?" He asked in a somewhat confused tone.
"Does the Master want to find someone?" Ellie replied.
"Ellie is good at finding people. If you give me something that has their presence or a description of them, then Ellie can find them easily."
"Is that so?" He smiled lightly.
It wasn’t that Leonard wanted to doubt Ellie’s ability, but if she truly had such a skill, then why hadn’t others taken her under their wings?
As if detecting Leonard was skeptical of her claim, Ellie clenched her tiny fists. She was determined to help Leonard out in gratitude for the porridge.
To prove her worth and claim, she promptly approached Mirelle.
The speed at which she closed the distance between them was alarming.
’What’s with this little girl’s speed?’ Mirelle’s eyes widened in astonishment. Even with her skills, she was barely able to see a slight silhouette. By the time she got a full view, the little girl was already in front of her, and sniffing her.
Ellie used her nose and sniffed Mirelle a few times to mark her unique mana.
The process only took a few seconds before she returned to Leonard’s side.
She held an innocent smile and reported to Leonard. "This Auntie came from the west side and went through a shortcut in the alley from ahead to reach here. Along the way, she came across a total of 7 people in the slum. Those 7 people are currently lining up to receive free porridge."
"Oh?" He raised an eyebrow in surprise. His attention soon shifted to Mirelle.
Although he was silent, his attitude was clear to have Mirelle confirm whether Ellie’s deduction was correct or not.
While Mirelle was indeed baffled by the little girl’s ability, she was more affected by the form of address Ellie used for her.
’A-Auntie???!’ She was still a youthful and beautiful woman.
How was she an Auntie in any way?
"Yo, Auntie, can you confirm Ellie’s words or not?" Leonard suddenly asked, purposely emphasizing the word ’Auntie’ to taunt Mirelle.
It was surely satisfying to take advantage of Ellie’s innocence to get some revenge for the frustration he had cooped up.
