CHAPTER 67: MANAGER DARREN

Darren exhaled deeply and commanded, "Hurry up and find Meagan’s father. Drag him over here as soon as possible. As for the silver medal merchant waiting in the chamber, send a few of our top whores to service him for now."

"Yes, Manager Darren." Owen received the command and inquired, "Then what about the gold medal merchant outside?"

"I’ll handle it." Darren scoffed. "A gold medal merchant must not be trifled with. Our Enchanted Oasis is at fault, so we must be ready to cough up some money. As for the whore, she can be gifted to him to do whatever he wants."

Although Darren had never met Vincent, just the status alone warranted him to treat the latter with utmost respect.

Moreover, establishing friendly relationships with such high-ranked merchants was their motto and goal to survive in Velastra.

If a mere whore could resolve the issue and ensure their Enchanted Oasis would rope in another influential merchant, then they would be set.

"Ah, right, I nearly forgot about this." Darren suddenly recalled something. "The boss mentioned that the Crown Prince of Aldros has recently arrived in our city. We are to find top-notch beauties to be sent over as a gift."

"Rest assured, Manager Darren. We’ve already handpicked a selected gem and sent it over to the Crown Prince’s temporary residence."

"And what about the money?"

"We’ve sent over half of our revenue as well."

"Good, the Crown Prince might be newly appointed, but his House Lawson cannot be underestimated. Their reach in the city might not be present on the surface, but there are many underground gangs that heed to their command."

House Lawson’s influence and power were very terrifying. Their Enchanted Oasis must tread carefully when dealing with them.

Owen nodded his head in understanding before excusing himself to find Meagan’s father.

Meanwhile, Darren fixed his uniform slightly as he exited the building to head toward the incident site.

Outside the building, Leonard was calmly sitting on a chair brought over to him by Mirelle.

His chin was lying on his palm, whereas his eyes were closed. In the meantime, Claudia was carefully wiping off the perfume residue on his pants, much to her disgust.

Unfortunately, the slave collar was absolute, meaning Claudia was forced to look joyous while cleaning his pants.

While Leonard made himself comfortable and displayed a typical demeanor of a merchant, the crowd remained still. They were curious as to how the situation would be resolved.

"A new gold medal merchant entered the city. I wonder how Enchanted Oasis will clean up this mess."

"It’s definitely going to be offering the whore and money as compensation. I’m more curious as to how the silver medal merchant would behave."

"I know, right. The whore he paid escaped and managed to cause trouble for a higher-ranked merchant. He must be feeling like crap now."

"But don’t forget that this is a new merchant in the city. Maybe there could be some leeway since he’s new."

"True. A merchant prioritized profit, but they still needed to care about relationships among fellow peers."

The crowd’s conversation was by no means low or barely audible. Instead, they were quite loud and even started suggesting having a gambling session on how the situation would resolve.

Mirelle overheard them and was once again left disappointed by society. They kept calling the woman a whore as if their lives were worthless.

’Just how rotten is the world?’ She frowned and kept her sight on the distraught woman. The woman’s eyes no longer reveal any color, almost as if she had given up on her life.

Had it not been for Mirelle’s restraining her movement, it would have been hard to discern whether she would bite her tongue to commit suicide.

Of course, such an action was beyond laughable as well when there existed healing magic and potions.

Sometime later, a person could be seen from afar.

"Sir Vincent, that person is Manager Darren from the Enchanted Oasis." Jeffrey recognized him and quickly informed Leonard.

Since he had already stood by Leonard’s side, he might as well continue to earn some merit. Either way, he got numerous excuses to ensure his survival if things went awry.

Upon learning someone of significance had arrived, Leonard promptly opened his eyes.

"Scram to the side," he then gestured with his fingers to order Claudia to step aside.

Disgruntled internally, Claudia flashed a sweet smile on the surface, stood up from the ground, and went to the side.

’Hmph, this is all that hypocrite’s fault.’ The more Claudia recalled how Mirelle forcefully placed the slave collar on her neck, the more infuriated she became.

Alas, nobody had the time to have any concern for her when the main spotlight was on Leonard.

"Sir, our Enchanted Oasis wishes to express regret for the unsightly incident." Darren approached Leonard but paused after a fixed distance and apologized sincerely.

His hand held a small box with a lock. "The whore shall be up to your discretion, and this is our small gift to compensate for the matter."

The crowd went numb from astonishment when they saw Darren’s action.

Needless to say, the small gift was definitely anything but small.

’Overbearing is really the key to survival here.’ Leonard glanced at the small box with a stoic expression. He wanted to test how prestigious his current disguised status was.

The result couldn’t have left him quite disappointed.

A Crown Prince was treated with fictitious respect, but a gold medal merchant was treated with utmost respect.

When he watched how the group of people greeted Number 13, who was impersonating him as the Crown Prince, he could discern their emotions. Full of smiles on the surface but secretly full of hidden blades, ready to backstab him at any moment.

A few seconds later, Leonard exhaled softly and gestured with his fingers at Mirelle.

"Since Manager Darren is being like this, it would be impolite of me to refuse the gestures." He calmly said, seemingly allowing the issue to be put to rest.

Darren instantly heaved a sigh of relief and was about to hand over the small box until a voice echoed from behind.

"What a nice way of saying! If stealing my whore away and receiving the money that I spent as well is polite, then I’ll be damned."
