Endless World: The Rise of Leonard Lawson
Chapter 76: Magic Dimension
CHAPTER 76: MAGIC DIMENSION
"What’s with you and unleashing your aura every now and then?" Amidst the guard’s petrified and horrified expression, Leonard suddenly raised his voice and scolded harshly.
"I swear if you damaged my clothes, then I’m deducting your pay. Like, just cast some other high-class spells instead of unleashing your aura." He continued, treating Mirelle without any regard for her mage’s status.
Naturally, this was purposely done to show the guards who were in charge.
Needless to say, the act was wonderfully done.
Mirelle retracted her aura without any ounce of complaint or resentment under the guards’ watchful eyes.
It was then that the guards came to realize Leonard was definitely more than just a certified gold merchant to be able to publicly and harshly reprimand a sixth magic circle mage.
This kind of Mage is treated with utmost respect everywhere they go. Even their city of Velastra must tread carefully when faced with such a presence.
’What kind of bigshot is this? And who is this mage’s friend?’ By now, the guards didn’t doubt the latter’s claim about meeting up with a friend.
Their researchers were all held in high acclaim, so it was only natural that some of them would know Mages in such a high rank.
Shortly after the guards composed themselves, they lightly inquired, "May I know who this friend you mentioned is so we can verify the matter?"
Despite knowing their identity was special, protocol must be followed strictly in this research facility.
There could not be any mishap under their supervision because one careless mistake meant losing their job, or worse, even their life could be forfeited if it was something major.
"Caroline, that’s her name." Mirelle flatly responded, showing an aloof demeanor. She was helpless toward Leonard and Claudia, but that didn’t mean she was helpless against these pathetic guards. She didn’t owe them anything, so she wouldn’t even feel terrible for them.
Sometime later, one of the guards returned to the building, leaving their companions in the open.
"Tsk, that damn bastard."
"First to take credit and first to flee in an unfavorable situation."
The exiting guard’s companions clicked their tongues and cursed in a low but audible tone. It was clear that they despised the particular guard who had taken the initiative to rush inside first.
The atmosphere quickly turned quite awkward, at least for the guards.
Leonard was prepared and had already instructed Mirelle to retrieve a chair for him to sit on.
One of the benefits of creating a magic circle was the ability to create a separate dimension, commonly known as the Magic Dimension, that could store things. Naturally, the things stored in the dimension could not be living beings.
"Can’t believe my Magic Dimension is being used like this." Mirelle sighed and felt that the storage capacity was wasted.
"Well, if you had done your research properly and made advance plans, then I wouldn’t need a chair." Leonard rolled his eyes. He had to remind himself that Mirelle was definitely not the planning type. She was more of an emotional and impulsive type.
Both types were often a headache to deal with. But Leonard needed to endure it because her power output was still very useful to him.
While Leonard was calmly waiting outside, elsewhere, a storm was brewing internally and externally.
In the Core Region, where the Merchant Guild was located, Wesley’s cane was tapping softly on the carpet. He was listening in on a report by a man donned in all black clothes.
If one took a closer look, they would find their attire resembling the lurkers who had been dealt with by Mirelle previously.
"Hoh, so this Mr. Vincent is waiting at the Research Facility?" Wesley muttered softly, seemingly confused by his action.
"I thought he was some secret agent from the Crown Prince’s side. He came from nowhere and already tried to cause a scene. Moreover, he even had my men eliminated to erase his traces."
The timing of his appearance was too much of a coincidence.
"What about the investigation of his background, Ethan?" Wesley questioned.
Ethan was one of his trusted subordinates and the person leading his intelligence network throughout Velastra.
Ethan’s expression was indifferent and seemed to be detached from worldly desires.
He retrieved a few magic papers that were received from the Merchant Guild branch at Veridale and handed them over to Wesley.
"Based on the investigation, it is stated that Vincent Bond is indeed a certified gold merchant from Veridale. He’s known for his luxurious agricultural products, which have been exported throughout the Valdoria Continent." Ethan reported but held some doubts regarding the findings.
"Vincent Bond’s background is too clean and has zero flaws. Hence, I believe some manipulation has been made, but I have yet to uncover any foul play."
He continued, giving his own inputs that held no evidence to back them up.
"A background that has no flaw is a flaw in itself." Wesley nodded and agreed with Ethan’s judgment.
"So, should I keep investigating further and have our men spy on his movement?" Ethan inquired.
Wesley’s brows furrowed slightly. As much as he wanted to know why and what Leonard’s objective was, he didn’t wish to alert the latter. The killing of his men was a warning sign.
’Since you don’t wish to be tracked, then I shall grant you the wish. It’s not like you can do much in the city I control anyway.’ Wesley thought and ultimately called off the investigation.
"There’s no point wasting our time investigating further if the latter intended to conceal their secret. Instead, pay more attention to the Crown Prince’s movement and his Crimson Guards. They are much more dangerous than Mr. Vincent." Wesley commanded.
"Yes, Lord Wesley." Ethan adhered to the order and excused himself.
Sometime later, Wesley stood up and walked toward the windows. His eyes seemed to pierce through the glass windows and penetrate a specific building.
"Hopefully, the Crown Prince isn’t ignorant enough to mess with the Merchant Guild. The city of Velastra has long ceased to be in control of the Noble Faction."
