Endless World: The Rise of Leonard Lawson
Chapter 89: Merchant Gathering
CHAPTER 89: MERCHANT GATHERING
Shortly after Caroline finished cleaning up the room, the formation was soon dispelled. There was no longer a need for concealment when they were about to exit anyway.
"Just like planned, we are now in discussion for a collaboration in the future regarding your agriculture field in Veridale." Caroline reminded him.
"You can save me the constant reminder." Leonard rolled his eyes. "If anything, you can remind your friend who clearly needs some help in the brain aspect."
"My brain functions just fine." Mirelle snorted. "I simply am not shrewd and devious enough like you to think so much."
"Hey, why implicate me?" Caroline was distressed that she would be lumped together with Leonard.
"I was naive and deceived badly once. You know about the incident with that despicable noble as well." She argued.
Upon hearing that, Mirelle pursed her lips and refrained from mentioning the old past. That particular incident was what caused Caroline to despise scummy nobles the most. It was also how she knew the reason behind Caroline’s attack against Leonard almost as soon as he entered the room.
Meanwhile, Leonard’s ears were perked up as he calmly absorbed that slip of a tongue information.
’So there’s some bad history between her and a particular noble, huh. I should probably find the chance to have Logan investigate the matter.’ Since this was unrelated to the things in Velastra, Leonard didn’t mind commanding some of the Crimson Veil Division to investigate Caroline’s past history.
After all, he didn’t hold any intention to poach her into his rank until he came to realize this woman was more valuable and significant than Mirelle.
Oh, there was also the slave that he had taken unwillingly.
Whenever Leonard was reminded of Claudia’s presence, his mood couldn’t help but turn sour.
This woman had the nerve to still attempt to sabotage his carefully planned objective despite being turned into a captive. It goes to show that she was someone who was so fixated on her point of view that it would be nearly impossible for her to be changed.
Had it not been for the fact that she could still be a lethal weapon, followed by the fact that she still contained mana, Leonard would have discarded her long ago.
’The Restoration Potion only works on those with mana. So even if a person’s magic circle was shattered, there was still the possibility of reconstruction, albeit very painful and difficult.’ Leonard was positive that Claudia could still utilize mana based on his findings.
He didn’t mean to eavesdrop on Caroline’s conversation with Mirelle regarding the effectiveness and limitations of the Restoration Potion. But it was certainly hard to not listen in when they spoke at a medium tone in a room that wasn’t very spacious.
After all, the sound concealment cast by Logan only blocked off their sounds from going out. It didn’t stop any sounds from coming into their area.
Such a design was most probably used to ensure that they wouldn’t be caught off guard by external factors during a private conversation.
Sometime later, Caroline finished packing everything up. "Okay, I’m ready to leave."
"You’re finally done?" Leonard yawned and glanced at his wrist.
It used to have a watch around the wrist, but it was just empty now.
’Right, I can’t even check that the time she took was long.’ He smiled bitterly. There was no concept of a wrist watch in this world, only a pocket watch.
Hence, the two were confused by his action.
"Is your wrist injured?" Mrielle asked, her voice filled with concern.
Her genuine concern left him speechless. He didn’t even know what to say.
"Forget it," he shook his head and stood up. "The Merchant Guild... I should also pay them a visit now."
Shortly after his command, the group of four exited the facility and made their way to the Merchant Guild.
Along the way, they encountered quite a lot of merchants frantically leaving the pleasure houses. Some of them weren’t even properly dressed as they rushed out, leaving the women in the pleasure houses astonished.
"What’s with the merchants?"
"Who knows? At least they managed to pay before leaving. Otherwise, I’ll make sure they can’t even walk out of our pleasure house."
As the women made their comments, some of them spotted Leonard.
Instantly, they regulated their emotions and began flashing a warm smile at him. "Hello, Sir, are you interested in our pleasure house? We guarantee your legs will turn jelly, but you will feel like you’re in nirvana."
"Save it, slut. Can’t you see there are three women next to him? Moreover, one of them is a slave."
"Tsk, I doubt a slave like her could possibly be any good in bed. I bet they’ll just be like wooden puppets, giving zero pleasure to the owner."
Their remarks continued to grow more and more outrageous, to the point where Leonard hastened his movement.
The same thing goes for Mirelle and Caroline, who frowned upon these buildings. As for Claudia, her eyes were open, but she was forbidden from speaking. All she could do was followed along without any unnecessary movement or action, lest the slave collar start to tighten around her.
To prevent the previous mishap, the tightening would be instantaneous and set at the highest pain level.
"I wondered what’s going on with the Merchant Guild." Caroline frowned.
She had never seen these horny merchants leave in such haste. These merchants always cared about their appearance, so for them to leave without dressing properly made her worried.
"It can’t be about the Crown Prince." Mirelle deduced. There was already an announcement of the banquet. If anything, they would have already been prepared, and not this kind of rush.
"Why bother racking your brain up?" Contrary to their concerns, Leonard simply chuckled. "We’ll figure it out once we arrive at the Merchant Guild. Honestly, I’m quite intrigued by the sudden merchant gathering. Who knows? They might subtly coerce us into forking over a lot of money under the guise of presenting a gift to the Crown Prince."
