Entangled in Midnight: Mrs Grant wants a Divorce
Chapter 9: Her Face—Who Hit Her?
CHAPTER 9: CHAPTER 9: HER FACE—WHO HIT HER?
"Eleanor, shut up!" Eugene Winslow shouted angrily.
"Damn it! Aren’t you guys annoying!"
Jude Winslow, who had been sitting nearby playing mobile games, suddenly stood up and impatiently ruffled his unkempt hair, "Can’t Eleanor keep her own stuff? She’s an adult, married even, why should her things stay here with us? Take them today! Just take them all away! These troubles are just annoying to see!"
Eleanor was pleasantly surprised.
Taking her mother’s belongings was her goal for today, and Jude Winslow unexpectedly agreed with her?!
The rest of the Winslow Family fell silent.
Most of Melody Nash’s belongings were valuable items, priceless in the market, and Eugene Winslow, Yvonne Vance, and Mia Winslow were not willing to return Melody Nash’s belongings to Eleanor.
Before the others could react, Jude Winslow had already picked up an antique ornament next to him and was heading out, turning his head to ask Adrian Grant, "Brother-in-law, aren’t you going to help with your woman’s stuff?"
The rebellious young man’s tone was poor, but Adrian Grant didn’t get angry. Instead, he actually picked up two jewelry boxes, with a good-natured look as if he was ready to act as a mover.
Eugene Winslow wanted to stop him, but Adrian Grant had already taken action, and since these were Eleanor’s mother’s belongings, what reason did he have to continue withholding them?
Not only did he have no reason to continue withholding them, but he didn’t dare just watch!
How had things escalated to this point!
It’s all because of the damn woman Yvonne Vance!
Eugene Winslow grudgingly ordered the staff to start moving things, and in no time, they had packed all the belongings into Eleanor’s big G-class vehicle, filling the entire trunk and back seat.
"Adrian, Eleanor, it’s almost noon, stay for lunch, won’t you?" Eugene Winslow wanted to build more connections with Adrian Grant.
"No, I’ve got classes at the school this afternoon." Eleanor was afraid she would feel indigestion here.
Mia Winslow looked expectantly at Adrian Grant, "Adrian, I made the dishes you like today."
Her sister in front of her was blatantly trying to seduce her soon-to-be ex-husband, which was truly disgusting, and Eleanor couldn’t help but roll her eyes right there.
She couldn’t care less about her soon-to-be ex-husband, just lifted her leg and prepared to leave.
"Of course, brother-in-law is going to send Eleanor back, is he going to stay here alone?" Jude Winslow looked at Mia Winslow full of ’Are you out of your mind?’ expression.
Eleanor almost laughed out loud.
How had she not noticed before that Jude Winslow was kind of cute?
In front of the Winslow Family elders, Eleanor smiled with implicit meaning and said, "Sis, don’t be so obvious with your hidden intentions, it’s rather inelegant."
Mia Winslow’s face slightly changed, but she quickly adjusted.
She sighed, as if helpless against Eleanor’s petty and unreasonable behavior, "Eleanor, I’ve been friends with Adrian for many years, you should grow up, don’t always overthink, and especially don’t speak carelessly, it’s not quite appropriate."
"Who touched her face?" Adrian Grant suddenly asked.
One moment agonizing over his deceased wife’s belongings, Eugene Winslow was startled the next, breaking out in a cold sweat, he opened his mouth but couldn’t say anything.
Adrian Grant looked at him coldly, saying nothing yet exuding a strong pressure.
"A—a slight misunderstanding..." Under pressure, Eugene Winslow stammered, quickly apologized to Eleanor, "Eleanor, Dad was just upset earlier, you know, Dad didn’t mean it! I absolutely won’t do it again, won’t do it ever, son-in-law, rest assured!"
When Eugene Winslow acted, he never thought Adrian Grant would challenge him for it!
Eleanor found it a bit absurd, a bit laughable, her eyes felt a bit sore.
What, he was here to protect Mia Winslow and yet showed concern for who hit her?
Giving a slap then a piece of candy, he was rather skilled at this!
Seeing Eleanor remained silent, Eugene Winslow tried to make amends, "That string of jade beads, your Auntie Vance will auction them back for you, and return them to you!"
Eleanor decided to accept what was offered, "Alright, I’ll be waiting."
Her mother’s belongings were the biggest gain today!
-
With her mother’s belongings now in her possession, Eleanor couldn’t suppress the smile at her lips, but the moment she widened her smile, it pulled at the muscles on her left face, making her gasp in pain.
"Got bullied but don’t know how to complain?" asked the man next to her in the passenger seat.
"Complain to who? You?"
Eleanor was about to mock him but remembered it was indeed Adrian Grant’s statement that changed Eugene Winslow’s attitude, retracting her sarcastic tone.
Thinking about the slap at the bar, Eleanor felt a twinge of guilt.
She pretended to clear her throat, "Ahem! The Preston Family retreated, why didn’t you tell me about that? Or I wouldn’t have..."
She wouldn’t have slapped him.
Eleanor took a deep breath, "Anyway, still, thank you——"
"Not me." Adrian Grant saw her undisguised joy, looked away, "It was the old master’s decision."
"Oh." Eleanor’s smile froze, she nodded pretending to be relaxed, "Grandpa is still good to me!"
Blaming herself for being clueless, for humiliating herself.
She casually made up that Old Madam Grant intervened to help, turns out the truth was Old Master Grant made his move, not surprising.
"I wasn’t good to you?" Adrian Grant asked.
Eleanor’s genuine confusion, "Good to me? You think you were good to me? If you were good to me, would I have needed to be humiliated by you last night?"
"Miss Winslow, unwilling to be Mrs. Grant, naturally you can’t enjoy the rights of Mrs. Grant."
Eleanor was about to say something when Adrian Grant’s phone rang.
Adrian Grant answered, "Mia."
Eleanor’s expression, vivid a moment ago, instantly fell. Her long, curled eyelashes covered the intense loneliness.
She looked at the man, her expression dull, the man’s expression gradually became grave, then he responded with a ’good’ to the person on the phone and hung up.
"Eleanor, drive me back to the Winslow Family," Adrian Grant said.
Eleanor laughed angrily, fury rising from the depths of her heart.
They had just left the Winslow mansion, now Mia Winslow was causing trouble!
"Am I your chauffeur? Just picked you up from there, now you want me to take you back? Only back to the Winslow Family? Adrian Grant, do you want me to escort you to her bed too?"
Adrian Grant, with obvious reproach, called her by her full name, "Eleanor, Mia hurt her hand."
"What do you mean?"
"Mia said you pushed her, now her left hand is in pain."
