CHAPTER 93: CHAPTER 93: LESS THAN A MONTH PREGNANT, THE BABY IS STILL SMALL

Blake Lockwood accompanied Eleanor Winslow to the hospital for a bandage change.

The doctor prescribed a new ointment, and Blake Lockwood went to the first floor to pay and pick it up.

Eleanor Winslow felt stifled in the examination room and walked to the corridor platform to get some air.

Just as she wanted to return, she stepped back and bumped into someone—

"Sorry, sorry..."

Mid-apology, she turned around and saw Adrian Grant’s face.

The words stopped abruptly at Eleanor’s mouth, and she looked at him coldly, her face clearly questioning, "What are you doing here?"

"Here for a bandage change?" Adrian Grant asked calmly.

Eleanor regarded him defensively, not wanting to speak, but Adrian blocked her only path, forcing her to reply reluctantly, "Yes."

"Why isn’t anyone with you?"

"Blake went to settle the bill."

Eleanor didn’t want any misunderstanding that Blake Lockwood hadn’t taken good care of her.

Adrian Grant held a cup of hot cocoa and asked Eleanor, "Would you like some?"

Eleanor liked hot cocoa but didn’t want Adrian’s.

"Young Master Grant, you’re blocking my way." She internally cursed herself for coming out for a walk; wouldn’t it have been better to just sit obediently in the examination room!

Adrian seemed not to hear her words and lowered his eyes to look at her hands.

Her well-wrapped hands were laid out in front of her, round and looking somewhat comical and cute.

Seeing him observe her hands, Eleanor suddenly thought of something and said, "On the day I got injured and came to the hospital, the Purple Jade Bracelet you gave me was inconvenient to remove. The doctor worried it might worsen the injury, so I had it smashed. That bracelet was quite valuable, so I’ll consider it a part of my divorce settlement; that’s enough. I don’t need any other assets."

It was a reminder for Adrian to quickly organize the paperwork and sign the divorce agreement.

The Purple Jade Bracelet was just one of Adrian’s gifts to Eleanor, and her reminder made Adrian recall that he had indeed given her such a gift.

He didn’t care about the gift’s value but felt a painful sting in his heart when he heard Eleanor say, "I had it smashed."

She truly didn’t care about the gifts he gave!

Adrian couldn’t help but wonder if it were a bracelet given by Jonah Grant, would she try to preserve it?

"Zia—"

"Make way!"

Just as Adrian was about to speak, Eleanor suddenly saw a figure and, disregarding her injured hands, pushed Adrian aside. Fortunately, Adrian reacted swiftly, promptly dodging, and in an instant, Eleanor ran out.

Eleanor saw a familiar silhouette.

"Ma’am, please be careful!"

Nurses hurriedly warned as Eleanor jogged down the corridor.

The woman not far away turned instinctively upon hearing the commotion.

Seeing Eleanor, she raised her eyebrow unexpectedly, no longer exhibiting the embarrassment and dejection from the previous banquet, showing instead a touch of smug superiority.

"Eleanor." Vivian Quinn caught sight of Eleanor’s hands, "Oh, injured?"

Eleanor slowly halted, panting gently, her gaze openly fixed on the test report in Vivian’s hand.

This was a private hospital with four departments on each floor. Earlier, Eleanor had seen Vivian coming from the obstetrics and gynecology department!

Vivian followed Eleanor’s gaze to her hand, seemingly holding some kind of trophy, and smiled, "Want to see this?"

Vivian deliberately adjusted the angle of the report, allowing Eleanor to see two words: Pregnancy.

"You found out?" Vivian asked with curiosity.

Eleanor pressed her lips together, not speaking, her gaze towards Vivian cold.

Vivian touched her lower abdomen and chuckled, "Eleanor, you should also be aware that getting into bed isn’t something I can do alone, just like Mia Winslow and Adrian Gra—"

Before Vivian could finish the word ’Grant’, she noticed the tall man striding over, the hem of his long trench coat fluttering in the wind with his swift steps.

"Discussing me?" Adrian Grant seemed to wait for her to finish speaking, but Vivian could detect a deep coldness and intimidation from his simple glance.

"No, no, Young Master Grant misunderstood." Vivian froze completely, not daring to breathe.

Adrian withdrew his gaze, frowning at Eleanor, "Why run? Don’t you know you’re a patient? What if you fall?"

Eleanor ignored Adrian and asked Vivian, "Trevor Hawthorne’s?"

Vivian took a deep breath, regaining some confidence, and touched her hair, "Otherwise? It’s less than a month old, very little baby."

Eleanor stared at Vivian’s flat belly and narrowed her eyes.

In that instant, her demeanor was truly intimidating, causing Vivian to retreat a few steps, hands protecting her abdomen.

"Eleanor, what do you want? I warn you, the baby inside is Trevor Hawthorne’s first child—it’s precious!"

"Is it?" Eleanor said with a smile that did not reach her eyes, "I hadn’t intended to do anything, but your words gave me inspiration."

"Eleanor!" Vivian cried out in fear, pointing at Eleanor and saying to Adrian, "Young Master Grant, you heard her, you heard what she said! If anything happens to me, it’s her fault!"

Adrian seemed not to hear Vivian’s words.

Whether he heard or not, unknown.

Eleanor took two steps forward, scaring Vivian into retreating repeatedly.

"Miss Quinn, I didn’t say anything, don’t splash any dirty water on this patient." She paused, her smile fading, "But you should know how despised and criticized illegitimate children are in this circle."

Eleanor wanted to suggest that she should stop.

Vivian seemed to hear something amusing, "Illegitimate children also depend on whose they are? I’m somewhat tired, Eleanor, goodbye."

...

When Blake Lockwood returned with the medicine and found Eleanor, her face looked really bad, and then he noticed Adrian Grant nearby.

Blake looked at Eleanor and then at Adrian, seeing Eleanor hadn’t sent Adrian away, it wasn’t appropriate to say anything, so he pretended not to see Adrian—she harbored resentment over the fact that Adrian answered Eleanor’s call but didn’t rush over to help her immediately!

"Why the unhappiness?" Blake asked Eleanor gently.

Blake thought Eleanor’s unhappiness was due to Adrian’s appearance, but at the moment Eleanor looked at her, she immediately understood it wasn’t.

"Because of me?" Blake quickly understood, "Did you see Vivian Quinn?"

Eleanor stood up, speaking with concern, "Blake, you..."

"I saw her entering the obstetrics and gynecology department when I went to pay." From Blake’s tone and demeanor, no emotions could be discerned.

Before Eleanor could utter a comforting word, Blake smiled cheerfully, "It’s okay, she managed to get into bed with someone right under my nose, making a person isn’t essentially different. You’re aiming for divorce; I’m just in time for it."

Adrian had been looking at Eleanor’s file and only then raised his eyes to look at Blake Lockwood.
