Entangled in Midnight: Mrs Grant wants a Divorce
Chapter 96: You Can’t Beat Me
CHAPTER 96: CHAPTER 96: YOU CAN’T BEAT ME
Mia Winslow unconsciously clenched her fist, the wound on her wrist sending a stabbing pain.
As expected, Adrian Grant chose to defend Eleanor Winslow, just as expected...
What’s so great about Eleanor?
The grief in Mia’s heart was gradually becoming uncontrollable, and a look of pain appeared on her face, as if the wound was hurting badly.
"Eleanor, you should leave first! I... I don’t want to see you! I’ve forgiven you, I don’t blame you for hurting my hand again, but... but every time I see you, the wound on my left hand starts to throb with pain, repeatedly reminding me of what I’ve been through..."
Blake Lockwood couldn’t help but roll his eyes on the spot.
What a shocking white lotus!
The guests, seeing this, were even more sympathetic towards Mia, with some pressuring Eleanor to apologize to Mia, others wanting to drive Eleanor away, and some hurling insults.
Eleanor listened calmly, with a smile on her face from beginning to end, as if she wasn’t the one being attacked.
On the big screen in the banquet hall, Mia’s Vlog from childhood until now was playing—a cute child, a beautiful adult, from receiving various awards to traveling the world, clearly the image of the perfect daughter in the eyes of elders.
But suddenly, the Vlog’s soothing violin music stopped!
The sudden silence in the environment startled the guests, who instinctively looked at the big screen.
The screen suddenly switched scenes, becoming an overhead video—Mia suddenly rushed towards Eleanor, knocking her over and simultaneously smashing a porcelain vase! The vase shattered all over the ground as Eleanor was pinned down by Mia, her hands unprotected plunged into the shards!
The bright red blood was dazzling, soaking the off-white carpet.
Eleanor looked at Adrian Grant in shock.
She had tampered with Mia’s birthday Vlog today, but the video she uploaded was filmed by her mini camera, from an eye-level perspective.
And this overhead angle clearly belonged to Adrian!
Why was he doing this?
Was he willing to get involved in this matter?
Adrian lowered his gaze to her, said nothing, and turned back to the big screen.
The bright red blood, no matter how many times he’d seen it, still stung his eyes.
The two-minute video finished playing, and then repeated, looping.
"What is this? A recording?"
"Mia pushed Eleanor? Impossible, right?"
"Eleanor’s hands are also bandaged... the video couldn’t be fake, could it?"
"The angle shows everything clearly! Oh my god, Mia’s hand wasn’t Eleanor’s doing?"
...
"Turn it off! Turn it off immediately!"
Yvonne Vance was the first to react, rushing to the control panel to turn off the video, only to find the computer unresponsive, the video wouldn’t shut off, so she had to resort to pulling out the power cord directly.
The world was silent again.
Deadly silent.
Mia stood there, dumbfounded, not understanding how this video appeared.
"Sister, don’t you have anything you want to explain?" Eleanor kindly reminded, "Everyone’s here, it’s a good opportunity."
Mia opened her mouth, but her throat felt clogged, not a single word could come out.
Her face turned pale, her delicate makeup couldn’t hide the ugly and panicked expression, her injured left hand trembled unconsciously, a shiver of fear emanating from deep within her soul.
"Eleanor, when did this video happen?" a wealthy lady cautiously asked Eleanor.
They had previously helped Mia verbally attack Eleanor!
"Isn’t there a timestamp in the top right corner? Last week." Blake Lockwood was the first to speak up, "Ladies and maids, being kind is good, just afraid of being used as a pawn by others."
At this moment, Eleanor’s bandaged hands attracted the attention of everyone.
The amount of blood in the video wasn’t small, and the Winslow family actually left Eleanor, whose hands were bleeding, home alone!
"Even if it was a stranger injured, one wouldn’t ignore them, it’s really too much!" someone couldn’t stand it anymore.
"Eleanor, you installed cameras in my house without permission, that’s illegal!" Yvonne Vance was the first to challenge Eleanor.
Eleanor didn’t mention that the video was Adrian Grant’s, chuckled lightly: "Auntie Vance, the villa you’re living in now was bought by my mother before she died, the owner of the property has always been me and my dad. If we’re talking about whose house it is, it should be mine."
And you and your daughter are just occupying it like cuckoos in the nest!
Eugene Winslow, who was originally mingling with male guests on the other side, came over as soon as he heard something had happened.
"Enough! Isn’t this embarrassing enough?!" Eugene reprimanded Yvonne.
He didn’t dare to blow the matter up, the angle of that video clearly was from the camera installed by Adrian Grant!
Who could’ve thought it would capture such a scene!
And he didn’t expect that his gentle and kind eldest daughter would lie, and be exposed in front of everyone in such a manner, utterly disgraceful!
Eugene looked at Mia with disappointment, not wanting to look again.
Mia’s legs gave out, stumbling a step, falling directly to the ground.
Ho-How did it end up like this?
How could there be a recording?
Yvonne immediately helped her up, feeling distressed, but couldn’t utter a word of comfort.
The murmurs around them continued:
"Did Mia lose her mind, actually rushing towards Eleanor on purpose!"
"It’s one thing to seek your own demise but causing harm to others! Not just harming others, but also deceiving us! Too malicious!"
"Eleanor, I’m sorry! I apologize for what I said earlier!"
"Eleanor, I—I... huh, where’s Eleanor?"
When the guests realized, wanting to find Eleanor, she had already silently left the scene.
The night wind brushed against their faces, carrying the chill of late autumn.
"Why not stay and watch the show?" Blake asked Eleanor, "They’ll definitely apologize to you, a bunch of fair-weather friends!"
Eleanor looked at the full moon in the sky, speaking in a light voice, "I don’t need the apologies of fickle people."
The only role these fair-weather friends played was to act as sharp knives turning back on Mia!
"Eleanor!"
Pearl Morgan, holding her skirt, breathlessly chased after her.
She appeared shocked: "Did you plan this all along, waiting for this banquet to put Mia to death!"
If that were true, Eleanor was terrifyingly patient!
"Yes." Eleanor made no attempt to hide it, "So Pearl, you won’t beat me."
Pearl shivered, once again finding the courage to ask Blake, "What about you? Are you planning to use this tactic against Vivian Quinn too? Do you know that Vivian slept with Trevor?"
Blake seemed to hear a joke.
Pearl trying to use her to deal with Vivian—she was too naive!
"Pearl, I did indeed marry Trevor, but I don’t love him. I’ve just considered these two years as getting a free lay, no loss at all." Blake shook her head ruefully, "But what’s Vivian worth? If she could climb into Trevor’s bed before you, doesn’t that make you feel very unwilling?"
As Eleanor was about to walk away, she suddenly saw a figure in the distance.
Jude Winslow in a suit, a cigarette in his mouth, squatting by the roadside, his posture lonely and downcast, like a homeless puppy.
