CHAPTER 899: SHEN XIAN’S WRATH

"Shameless." Shen Xian’s voice was low, barely above a whisper, but it carried an oppressive weight. He didn’t look at anyone directly as the words slipped from his throat.

Shenlian Yingyue: "..."

Everyone: "..."

Those who understood the situation instantly realized he was criticizing her, calling her shameless for casually accepting something others had worked hard to obtain.

"I didn’t take anything from you. Why are you so angry?" Shenlian Yingyue rolled her eyes in frustration.

Shen Xian: "..."

"Are you pretending we don’t exist? Let’s continue our fight!" Peng Ruining shouted, completely unfazed by Shen Xian’s presence. He was determined not to let the person who had humiliated him walk away so easily.

"You still want to fight?" Shenlian Yingyue frowned. She too was eager to fight, but now wasn’t the right moment.

"I just turned my back for a moment, and you’re already provoking someone again? Human beings are such troublemakers, especially female creatures like you," Shen Xian sneered.

Shenlian Yingyue didn’t bother responding. But just because she didn’t care didn’t mean others shared her indifference.

Her companions had long disliked Shen Xian, and their resentment toward him was palpable.

"Master, this bitch talks too much. It’s hurting my ears," Xiao Li spat coldly from her left shoulder, voice dripping with disdain.

Shen Xian’s eyes narrowed. Then he smiled, a venomous, mocking smile, as he looked at Xiao Li and the others.

"Your master is shameless. What does that make all of you?" he asked cruelly.

"We love her. And many others adore her too." Shenlian Yinzhu, Zhiyi, Jun Mu Yang, and the rest responded calmly and in unison. The quiet confidence in their voices was enough to choke Shen Xian into silence.

Shen Xian’s expression twisted. Were they implying that no matter how he tried to taint her image, no matter how he attempted to defame her character, she would still be loved, by them, and by many others? Were they saying that, unlike him, she didn’t need to prove herself to be worthy of love?

He had hoped to provoke their rage. Instead, they remained composed, looking at him as though he were nothing more than an irritating sideshow. All his efforts had been meaningless in their eyes.

"Idol, are you hurt? Did someone provoke you?" Tai Hua Lei asked, worried. He didn’t believe Shenlian Yingyue would instigate conflict on her own. In his eyes, she was always gentle and kind.

He purposefully ignored Shen Xian, pretending he didn’t exist.

"No, I provoked them. I also beat their king and tried to take their Immortal Grasses," Shenlian Yingyue said with a shrug. She didn’t even glance at Shen Xian’s darkening face. Even if she noticed his expression, she wouldn’t have cared.

Tai Hua Lei: "..."

"It doesn’t matter. They’re just Immortal Grasses. If you want them, I’ll get them for you," Tai Hua Lei said quickly, trying to keep his expression calm. No matter what she did, she still seemed perfect in his eyes.

"See." Xiao Lan looked at Tai Hua Lei, then turned his gaze toward Shen Xian. He rarely spoke, but whenever he did, his words were guaranteed to cut deep.

Shen Xian nearly coughed up blood from fury.

Meanwhile, Wang Pei Zhi remained silent, but in his mind, he was furiously cursing Shen Xian’s entire ancestral line. He swore that one day, if given the chance, he’d lob a nuclear bomb straight at Shen Xian and flatten him into dust for constantly insulting his best friend.

"Immortal Grasses?" Di Xiuyu finally joined the conversation. Until now, she had been silently observing Peng Ruining, Jingling Xiuli, and Qilin Yu. Her attention had returned.

This was the reason she had come. She needed the Immortal Grasses to complete her system task. And those three individuals, Peng Ruining, Jingling Xiuli, and Qilin Yu, were also her mission targets.

She was tasked with eliminating Peng Ruining and winning the hearts of Jingling Xiuli and Qilin Yu.

"You have Immortal Grasses? Can I exchange for them?" she asked Peng Ruining, her tone neutral and transactional, as if she were discussing the price of common goods in a market.

Peng Ruining’s face darkened. The way this woman looked at Jingling Xiuli and Qilin Yu was clearly different than how she looked at him. Why was he being treated like an insignificant extra?

This was why he hated them both. His fury and jealousy had nothing to do with liking Di Xiuyu; it stemmed from the humiliation of being overlooked.

"Hmm, if you want our Immortal Grasses, leave your men with us. That ugly one, I don’t want him. That masculine one, I’ll accept. As for these two..." He turned his gaze toward Yao and Yasha, eyes glinting with perverse interest. "Let them serve me in bed."

Perhaps it was because of the burning jealousy in his chest, but Peng Ruining’s words grew bolder and more offensive by the second.

He ignored Shen Xian completely, stared at Tai Hua Lei like a merchant evaluating goods, and looked at Yao and Yasha as though they were already his toys.

Everyone’s expressions changed drastically. Shenlian Yingyue quickly motioned for her companions to retreat. She didn’t want Peng Ruining’s blood to splatter on them.

Yao and Yasha, however, remained expressionless. They didn’t care about what was said; they only obeyed Shen Xian’s commands.

Di Xiuyu’s expression tensed. She didn’t dare look at Shen Xian’s face. Having traveled with him, she had come to understand how dangerous he was. He was the hardest target in her mission. She couldn’t seduce him, couldn’t get close to him. The only time he even glanced her way was when she was being kind to Tai Hua Lei. Her charm held no meaning to him.

Shen Xian, at first, didn’t care. He regarded Peng Ruining as nothing more than an insect. But the moment he heard Peng Ruining mention Tai Hua Lei, his entire aura shifted.

"Say that again. Who do you want to serve you?" he asked softly, his voice disturbingly calm. A smile curled on his lips, but instead of warmth, it exuded terror.

Everyone froze. That soft question shook their souls with dread, even though he hadn’t done anything yet.

"King, this group of intruders doesn’t seem normal. Maybe we should just give them the Immortal Grasses and avoid trouble?" one of the Storm Rocs suggested, sensing that something terrible was about to happen.

"Shut up! I know what I’m doing." Peng Ruining snapped. Though rude, he wasn’t an idiot. But he didn’t feel he had done anything wrong. These strangers wanted his treasures; how could he hand them over without a fight? His pride wouldn’t allow it. His chest burned with resentment, and he wanted everyone else to suffer too.

Jingling Xiuli and Qilin Yu narrowed their eyes. Their gazes sharpened as they turned toward Shen Xian, recognizing the danger.

"I advise you not to speak recklessly. You don’t know what disaster may befall your entire clan if you keep provoking him," Di Xiuyu warned sharply. Her tone shifted completely, signaling danger. She didn’t want to die because of Peng Ruining’s stupidity.

Shen Xian let out a cold, gloomy chuckle. His patience had reached its end.

With a mere move of his fingers, everyone present, except for Bu Si Shu, found their bodies frozen.

They couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe properly. Couldn’t even scream.

Before they could register their fear, Shen Xian’s flawless, deadly fingers had already clutched Peng Ruining’s throat.

Just a little pressure, just one subtle move, and Peng Ruining’s life would end. Not just his, but the lives of the Storm Rocs standing around him. Even Jingling Xiuli and Qilin Yu, despite their status, would not be spared.

Because when Shen Xian was truly enraged, he did not discriminate.

Anyone near the target of his fury became collateral damage. He would slaughter them all, mercilessly.
